Morning All,

Well Marvin did it again, active green evening :) another reduction this morning. He is just slightly in the blue this AM, almost chickened out in shooting, However I am around to monitor so went ahead with it.

He is doing real well, with these great numbers the last few weeks I am hoping that his neuropathy will start improving, I have been giving him 2 zobaline instead of one the last few days.

I am wondering, is it possible for an acro cat that to go OTJ that hasn't had surgery or SRT? I would think no, or for a very short period.

I believe a few have, but it is pretty uncommon for an acro cat to go OTJ. Good for Marvin working the juice and giving you some nice numbers. That dose decrease run is quite impressive. The time spent in the "healing range", has most likely let his pancreas start working better and thus needing less insulin. Another possibility is the tumor releasing less growth hormone. The tumor can vary in how much growth hormone it releases.

The carbogoline is suppose to affect the pituatary gland, how exactly not sure, as from what I heard, the trail hasn't seen a decrease in the IGF-1 levels. I won't be able to afford to retest for that any time soon unfortunately to see. So somehow it is blocking the growth hormone, but not decreasing the numbers.

I forgot that Marvin had started the trial. Paul had contacted the RVC and while the sample size was small, a few cats did respond well to it while others showed little to no improvement. It very well could be that Marvin is one of those kitties that is responding well to it. Either way, I'd be doing the happy dance seeing all those reductions.:D

I have been :) Only side effect is on me, lack of sleep getting used to low numbers in the evening :) It's definitely the cabergoline, as his BG started going down about 3 days after starting and hasn't stopped.

Yes, the tumour can pulse up and down. Cats that have had the hypophysectomy surgery or taken paseriotide (the other but much more expensive medicine) have gone OTJ. There have been cases that have been very sick going OTJ. There have also been cases of kitties that were not tested for acromegaly, gone OTJ, then come back on the juice (some many years later) and then found to be acro. Were they acro the first time? Who knows, they weren't tested. We used to think acros only had high doses, but the recent research shows kitties testing positive for acromegaly with doses as small as 1 unit. Very few people test kitties on small doses for acromegaly.

It is the excess growth hormone that causes the diabetes. If cabergoline is reducing the amount of growth hormone produced, that is a good thing. That is what SRT did for a lot more money and inconvenience. SRT had mixed results in reducing the IGF-1 produced.

PMPS 110, nice cycle so far. Let see what tonight has in store for Marvin. Will Marvin let mommy sleep or will he show off and pretend he is Green Lantern.
