So I went to test Star when the baby woke last night. I tried a few strips before I woke up enough myself to notice the battery light blinking. I guess this is another reason for a backup meter!

Also, little known fact: I have terrible allergies, including, but not limited to, cats. When we first brought Star home, I was going bonkers. But after a couple of weeks, we settled down. I learned to literally scrub my hands any time I touched her. And DH took care of most of the hands on stuff. Until dx. Last night was my turn testing, and in my efforts to stay as asleep as possible, I skipped hand washing at the end. Guess what? Yup. Still allergic.

Yeah, it's not so bad after some allergy meds and a shower. Just a good reminder to be attentive.

This time I know the going-up-at +4 isn't from any DH inspired contraband. Just Star being herself!

Maybe I should watch better what times Star actually eats bits of her food. Maybe that would help me understand why she dips early. Or maybe I don't have enough stats to say this is a regularity.

It certainly can help to track the times of food consumption...but, as you're probably learning, with FD there are no guarantees! Once you know you have a pattern figured it, it's the cat's prerogative to change the game plan.

My Trixie is usually a +2 dipper, too (early on, when her pre-shots where higher, she was a +2 diver), although she usually bottoms out around +4. Other kitties will have their nadir later in the cycle. Collecting data as you are will help you get as close as possible to knowing how Star wants to work this thing - keeping in mind that it can change at a moment's notice.

For now...it looks like Star is having a lovely surf!

Good to know kitty can do all sorts of crazies and still be "normal"! One step at a time.
