Morning ~O) ~O) well not sure where this yellow is coming from today, but just to make sure my meter was on, I checked against the Relion Confirm and it read at 173. Taking more than a few comparisons with new AT/new strips and the Relion Confirm, the AT is reading approx. 15-20 points higher than old meter, so I can show the Vet on Maggie's ss as noted. I'm thinking back and some of you had a meter that was reading higher than normal numbers. Anyone remember which meter and who was the maker? I remember it was Rosalie and Linda & Weezer but can't remember the meter.

Maggie is her normal purry, talkative, lovey dovey self this morning and on her 2nd breffifs of the day. No cereal/soy milk within reach this morning. Have a nice day. I have early hair appt this morning and then some errands later.

I'm sorry I'm not up on what meter it is that reads higher numbers, but I'm happy to read around and try to find some info. Hope you have a good hair appointment!

Hi Jane, thanks for visiting us. It was some time ago one of the meters was way off with their numbers, and a few of the Beans had been using the meter. I forget what the outcome was, but calls were made and letters sent to the maker.

Morning Ann - wow on the yellow. Maybe just one of those days for Maggie, and at least she is coming down. Blues Maggie, OK?

On the meter thing - I was using the Infinity meter for a while, which consistently ran 20-28% higher. This was some time ago, last year early maybe? I am so bad on dates... Ann of Ann and Tess was too. She did call the US Diagnostics folks who make it, and the maxima, and was told (I think) that it had to do with the coding in the meter in conjunction with the strips... so, bottom line for both of us: we ditched the meter. Mannie's 200's were coming in as 300's, 100's were 180's, with the Infinity - uh no..... so I stopped using it. I know people were having issues with the FreeStyle Lite too, though not too sure what those were.... ???

Barb, definitely a permission slip for me to play this morning! I sure wouldn't mind better numbers though either!

Michelle, thanks for the info on the meter. It just proves that meters can really be giving off wrong or wonky numbers. Abbott sure does not like hearing negative news on their meters. Hopefully I'll fit a wa;k in there before it gets too hot.

I hope you got your walk in, permission slips seem to be the order of the day. At least you know the AT reads just a little high.

Yeah, the Infinity sucked! I think it was the Freestyle Lite w/ the new strips, it was reading a lot lower and messed people up. The Tru meter are off too.

Hi Ann & Tess, thanks for that info on meters. Freestyle Lite rings a bell as I recall. Yeah, they sure can mess things up. I E-mailed the Vet showing him when I started the new one. Of course, I start questioning whether Mags is throwing me a curve, too. I didn't get my walk in, as it's so humid. Mags is still sleeping same spot where I left her; she just opened one eye and then back to sleep. :-D


ETA: Maggie had a poke break this afternoon, and I had a play day! :-D

Oh no Pat, :lol: :lol: I can't believe you caught me as I was so peacefully doing the meter comparison dance. I do remember my early days. I guess I fell off the meters wagon, so to speak! If you notice, this time I didn't do a meter comparison.

Yes, it must be our turn with the humidity, and we may even get some rain! :-D

Amy, yes we need to get these girls back in green shape. :mrgreen:

It was the Freestyle Lite that caused all the problems because it read lower (lots lower, like 100 points lower) and lulled people into thinking that their kitties were doing pretty well, when in reality they were doing terribly. Many of us got stung using this meter. It was much worse for kitties who ran in the higher numbers.

Why did AT change the strips for your meter? I think I missed something along the line.

Nice blues Ms Mags! If meter-mania doesn't make us all crazy in LL, then syringe delirium will! Hope you get better results with the new AT.

I'm going to give Maggie a poke free night. She's been getting annoyed lately with the pokes.

Ella, that's terrible about the Freestyle Lites. I wonder if the makers ever corrected it. I'm not sure why Abbott changed to new strips and a new meter, as the old one worked fine.

Melissa, I'm putting down the second meter except when I get a wonky number. :lol:

Maggie's numbers are definitely not the usual. The meter thing can sure drive us all crazy! The food thing also drives me crazy. I know the people at Petsmart think I am crazy with all my different kinds of little cans of food! Gotta make the kitties happy!

Oh goodness, Maggie needs some poo inspiration! ;-)

We give Zener 1/16 or less of a teaspoon of Miralax once a day. When he was having constipation and motility issues we started off at 1/8 of a teaspoon twice a day, it was too much and he would have really soft or pudding poo. Then we went down to 1/16t twice a day and now to only once a day. It's been a little bit of trial and error to find a maintenance dose for him.

I still use the old reliable accu check which has been great for mne & I think very accurate...
Also we use 1/8 tsp miralax & it does the poo trick! Have a good night- Sorry for our absence, but you know how this show takes up so much of my time--After sunday all over till late august for nthe 2nd one ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile
