Hi and Good Morning; I've been up since 3 am! I am so relieved and surprised as I expected her to be high. I did feed a few hours before I tested, and now I gave her some more Chopped Grill Sophisticat with freeze dried chicken bits topping. I will test her when i get back later. It feels so good knowing that she can't go hypo on me as it's no insulin last night and this morning! Thanks everyone for all your support. Now what are you all going to do now that you can't have any fun with me for using two meters! I'm sure I can come up with something! ;-)

Should I add something in the subject line as 1st day trial?

I don't understand - what's stopping you from using the 2 meters now? You can still measure twice, cut once - oh wait... that's with carpentry... ;-)

Thanks everyone! You guys are too funny. I still have my two meters handy! I was starting to love that little Relion, so easy to use, too! I know I don't have to test until tonight, but she's looking peaked, so I think I will check. I've been gone all morning and left some food, but she didn't eat much. I know it says don't test til the next PS but...

So if I test at +7 just to check her bg, I shouldn't post it, right? I know it said "If she is 130 (Alpha Trak), at your normal test times, no need to test further until the next PS" - Does that mean the test time 12 hours from the AMPS? I can't remember how everyone did it?

Now, how on earth does she do that? :lol:

It isn't going to hurt if you test her....I mean, Ronnie and I had to give up the testing schedule we had...and we were testaholics. But seriously, they say to post the AMBG and the PMBG (12 hour apart, yes) and if one of them is a little high, test again in 3 or 4 hours to see if she brought herself down.
Stare at her a lot during those 3 or 4 hours too and do nothing else.

And I am not sure what to do if a kitty looks peaked. How can you possibly tell? You are just so funny Ann...I just don't know what to say....the OTJ trial is supposed to be FUN. A chance to see if the kitty's pancreas is functioning 100%. It is not supposed to send the Bean into a tail spin or anything.... LOL.

So, Maggie was 105 at AMBG, right? Test again 12 hours from that time. That will be her PMBG.
Don't worry! She is doing great! :mrgreen:

Oh my gosh, you have me laughing, Pat, and here I was serious about her looking peaked. Well, when I came in the door, I couldn't find her even after calling her name. Normally she greets me at the door. Well, she was in her 4th bed in the bedroom on top of some blankets and a pillow. And she could barely lift up her little head! It's nice and dark in this spot. I'm afraid I did test, and she's okay. Okay, no more staring, and tomorrow if her AMPS is okay, no further testing til the PMPS. Got it! Right! Okay! :lol:

P.S. You can test as often as you want; I did. It was fun to see all the green numbers and it was hard to stop! :lol:
I think I may have tested more on the trial than I did in the first two months of treatment. (Not proud of that fact.. :oops: )

You don't HAVE to test more than AM and PM since there is no insulin on board. Ya' know what I mean?
And staring... hmmm, sure go ahead and do that too while you are at it. Hahahaha!

Now go shopping for new shoes or something nice for yourself. Enjoy your freedom!

<---- not saying how often I tested Donovan during his OTJ trial. Nope. Or for weeks afterward :roll:.
Um.... then I started skipping the inbetween AM/PM tests. Then I started sleeping in on weekends. Then I tested PM only. Now I am only testing M/W/F PM. Aren't you proud of me? :mrgreen:

Thanks CD and Dyana! :lol: Oh that's right CD, you have a point with the testing and no insulin on board - what was I thinking? :roll: And I am not even a testaholic. I am looking for a comfy pair of shoes.

How exciting!! It really IS a little confusing, isn't it? All of a sudden, you have to unlearn the schedule you worked so hard to establish. It's a great problem to have. :mrgreen: Congrats on day 1!

Well, take a look at this...maggie is on a gum trial...now ain't that sumptin! You go Maggie!! Very happy to see this, Ann...Great day 1 ambg!

Testing...hey, don't have to test all that many times, but if you want to, go ahead. But try to wean yourself off...lol

Go Maggie! It is difficult to make the switch to being a non-tester...but well worth it!

Maggie had a good day - I just tested, and her bg is 117, not bad! She's been sleeping most of the day. She just had her Beechnut Chicken with Chicken Broth bf treat, after the ear prick, only 1/4 tsp, and some Chopped Grill for dinner. Sticking to the food diet sure helps! I'm done staring now and can relax the rest of the evening. Thanks for all the support.
 
Hey thanks everyone. You're right - it is hard to unlearn it (testing), but it does feel good seeing these numbers. She's still so good at letting me prick her ear, but it sure needs a break. It has a little bump on it, but I'm sure now it will heal.

Congrats on your first day! Maggie had a good one (bet you did too!)
