And the blues continue from last night! Woohoo! :-D :-D :-D Zener did have a little puke of grass at 4 am and it was black. nailbite_smile Any ideas what that means? I guess the good thing is that the food was digested. Appy is ok this morning, all meds taken, yard patrol completed. It looks like napping is about to commence.

OT: Poor nightbean has an early morning phone call. Kitties have to be extra quiet this morning. :lol:

Black Barf???? I hope not, but that could mean blood in the vomit. I would get it checked out.

Great cycle for Zener today!..and even a dip into the green lagoon! :mrgreen: Mr. Greenie highly approves!

I occasionally get black barfs too and have never been able to tie them to anything in particular other than maybe a different protein source in the most recent meals, but Ann is right...you have to consider blood

You can get fecal occult blood strips that will test for the presence of blood, but if it only happens once, I think I'd try to not worry too much

(any chance you have iron tablets in the house he could have gotten into?)

Hey Zener....has anybody reported the lagoon shark to you? I think the lagoonmeister should watch out for him...chases us kitties right out of there! ~ China

Good point about possible blood in the vomit, Ann. We'll look for the fecal occult blood strips in case it happens again. Thank you for your inputs!

Looks like Zener has pulled on his board shorts. :mrgreen: :cool:

I've never seen black barf. He didn't eat anything outside that was black, right? I probably would call the vet, too. I am always overanxious when any of our FDs do something different :lol: :lol: :lol:

Another point is that he's a black cat. :-D At first, I thought it was a hairball but closer inspection revealed the grass. But maybe his black hair colored the liquid?

No idea about the black barf either...I hope you find the answer. In the meantime, gorgeous numbers for Zener today....keep surfin' and eatin', dude!!!

Nice numbers for Zener today. Sorry about the vomit. The only thing I can think of is blood also. I hope it's just a one time thing.

Thanks all for the thoughts on Zener's black liquid barf. It also had a lot of grass in it and possibly some of his silky black hair. The puke happened about 4:00 AM, what an effective alarm clock. :shock: Otherwise, he is eating fine this cycle and having a lot of cat naps in his beloved domain (the backyard). He does have GI motility issues from his FD, IBD and CKD so any or all of those could be a factor. We will keep an eye on his poops for any signs of blood too. Chief Inspector Crapdash will get out the magnifying glass for inspections! Yesterday's poo was impressive in size and looked as healthy and clean as a whistle, well, clean as poo can be - so says the poo patrol. Paws crossed it is a one time thing, and if not, we will keep what we use to clean it up and get in for a visit with our Vetty, Captain Team Zener.

He sure is having some lovely cycles at this dose, but then we're not really talking about that. {{{anti-jinx}}}

Ahhh, Zener, how nice of you to be a flat blue kitty and give your night duty bean some time off! Hope you're taking advantage and getting some sleep, Anne!

I hope the black barf was nothing more than a chemical reaction of the grass and maybe some of Zener's hair. He sure had a nice cycle today, and I'm glad he's eating well.
