Morning ~O) thanks for all the visits I missed last evening. I fell asleep at 6:30 pm as I only had four hours of sleep night before!. Thanks Josie, Mariko, Ella and Deborah for the feel better and appy vines.
Mags was eating some Gerber bf chicken from a spoon late yesterday afternoon, and I was able to water down some Wellness and syringe some food in her. I called the Vet's office and gave them an update. Her culture results from the urinalysis should be in on Saturday, so I'll talk to this same Vet again that treated her on Tuesday. She seems a little better this morning, moving around and giving me a little vocal. I may see about an appy stimulant, and Vet is looking into a pain med for Maggie's back pain.

The reason for the yellow is that Mags had some Purina N/F dry just to get some food in her for the night. I know it's bad for her diabetes, but I can increase as I had her on just a drop since Tuesday with not much food in her. I was doing anything I could to get some food in poor Mags. Her phosphorus is off the chart, so the vet is working with Mags to get it lower, I'll start on the binder soon. The Vet wanted me to wait until we got her thru the enema okay. She had a recovery day yesterday and looked so sad and tired, but today is looking a little better.

I hate to leave her for the morning, but I have an early medical appt. for a Cimzia injection, in my doctor's office, that same drive so I always leave early to avoid the gridlock. Elsa, I'll need some coffee to go, thanks. It should be a quick in and out visit as this wonderful nurse does it, and no need to see the doctor. I think there's a Petco up that way if I need anything. Mags had some Wellness and a few kibbles and some bf mixed with Miralax and her b/p pill, so I think we're good to go. Cisapride is bext. Sorry for always so long. I'll catch up on condos when I return. Thanks for all the appy and feel better vines for Mags as they really helped.
Have a nice day, Healing vines to all kitties needing them,

Ann

If I purée the wellness it really makes it a nice consistency without having to water it down. I had to do this for Sid initially when transitioning her to wet food couple of years ago. And now that is the only way she will eat...by puréeing it. That way you can get more calories in her if needed. And it's easy to put into the syringe from the big open end with a spoon.

I also "made" my own syringes by combining two different ones. I use an o-ring plunger coupled with Petco barrel that has an nice long tip to slide in the side of the mouth. The o-ring plunger helps the syringe to slide nicely without getting stuck. Sometimes if it gets stuck you push too hard and poor kitty gets a huge blast of food....and doesn't make the experience very pleasant.

One can of turkey wellness puréed = 10 syringes. That way I knew how many calories she was getting. If you like I can send you sime of the syringes. Just PM me if you would like these.

Oh yikes, I was not expecting this drop. I only gave one drop and I'm sure it was one drop. My insulin is six months old yesterday, and I haven't had a chance to order a new vial but soon. Mags wants to get out her green kini again! :?

Thanks Tena, I may be near a Petco - can these be bought at a Petco? Bt puree do you mean a blender. I actually used a little beater type thing and just added water. I'm sure I did give Mags a blast of food at first. Thanks.

Morning Ann ~O) ~O) ~O)

I am so glad that Maggie is feeling a little better today. That is good. I think too that it is nice and good that your vet is taking med changes and additions one step at a time. It is easier on these kitties, helps them adjust a little better I think. I would think that once the potassium and the phosphorus levels are better she will feel alot better too. Fixing Mannie's potassium levels did help him> good too I think that they will also address Maggie's back pain.

WOW on that +3! Surf well little one, mom's got a vetty appt of her own.

Hope your appt goes well. Thinking o f you guys today. Feel good, happy appy, and poo vines for Maggie. Be well Mags!

Enjoy the day Ann.

Looks like Maggie is missing the lagoon and taking fast track for the shores! I'm glad she's feeling a bit better today, and I'm sure with her MamaBean's love she'll be back to her old self before you know it. Surf safe for MamaBean, Mags....she'll be home soon!

I buy one syringe at Petco...its for the birds...no really...its the syringe used for birds....I use the barrel of this syringe....I like the tip on the barrel.
Then I buy an O-syringe and use the plunger from that...I like the o-ring on the plunger as it allows it to slide easily and doesn't get stuck. The larger black rubber part on the Petco syringe can get stuck over time. So let me know....I've got some extra. You also have more control over how fast you push the plunger...only giving 1 cc at a time to allow the kitty to take care of the food in the mouth. Each syringe will hold about 20 calories without the water.

Yes on the blender. I puree the heck out of it until it becomes kinda soupy. I don't need to add water....Usually want to get as many calories in using the syringe as I can since the experience isnt' the most pleasant for kitty but she tolerates it.

Re: 7/11 Maggie AMPS 215; +3 109

I hope Maggie is feeling perkier today, enemas are not pleasant. Drive safely.

I hope you get all the meds sorted out soon.

Re: 7/11 Maggie AMPS 215; +3 109

Hi Ann.....I'm glad Maggie tolerated the enema better this time and is feeling a little better today.
I hope you can get a good pain med for her back. She'll feel so much better.

See ya later

Re: 7/11 Maggie AMPS 215; +3 109; +8.5 167

Hi, just got home about an hour ago and made a couple stops taking care of errands. Thanks Michelle & Mannie (GA), Amy, Devon, Tena, Liz, Detective Poo, Ann & Tess, Jane, Barb and Michelle & Scrabble (GA) for all the Maggie vines and good wishes. Sorry not to address each one individually.
It looks like Mags didn't move from the bed the whole time I was gone. There's some Purina N/F kibble on the bed, so it looks like she ate a few kibble. She did eat very little Wellness, so guess I'll puree some. Tena, thanks, I'll pm you. I didn't find the Petco up near my doctor's office. I had to stop by the Vet's office for something, so I asked them what the Vets usually prescribe as an appy stimulant, and most of the time it's Mirtz. Mags did okay on it the first dental she had, but I didn't use it very long. I just gave her some Miralax mixed with bf, and she lapped it up from the spoon, so that's a relief she will eat the bf. I think I'll go blend some of the Renal LP and see how that goes over wih Mags. I probably should stick with the Wellness.

Re: 7/11 Maggie AMPS 215; +3 109; +8.5 167

I know how hard it is to not worry, but don't forget that one of a kitty's most important job duties is to sleep, sleep, and then sleep some more. I don't think my guys have moved from their current locations since about 9:00 this morning, so maybe Maggie is just taking her tasks very seriously! I'm glad she did eat a few kibbles and BF. At this point, give the girl whatever she wants or whatever will get her interested. Did the vet already give you the mirtz? Continued prayers and vines from here!!

Re: 7/11 Maggie AMPS 215; +3 109; +8.5 167

Hi Amy, thanks for reminding me that Mags is a cat, and that is what cats so is sleep! I think the kitties know better what's good for them than we Beans do for ourselves. No, I didn't request the Mirtx yet. They said if she's still not eating tomorrow to call. She just now did ask for some food and ate some Wellness on her own, so I think she's feeling better. She got off the bed and is sitting near the kitchen. She always feels better after fluids, too.

Re: 7/11 Maggie AMPS 215; +3 109; +8.5 167

I'm glad Maggie is feeling better and ate some on her own. Sending prayers for Maggie to continue to feel better and eat.

PMPS 94
:? I guess Mags wants a nighttime dip in the green Lagoon. I think it is partly not eating as much and I also gave fluids earlier.

Thank you Carla for the prayers for Maggie.

Amy, it was a nice surprise to see her eating on her own. She's also eating from a spoon.

Re: 7/11 Maggie AMPS 215; +3 109; +8.5 167; PMPS 94

Hi Ann......I'm happy to hear that Mags is eating, even if it's just alittle. I hate to sound like a bubblehead, but is this eating problem, from the trauma of the enema, couple days ago? Was it just yesterday? I have no sense of time.

I hope she feels better from the fluids. It did help Checkers. He looked so goofy, as the fluid, collected in his legs, like balloons.
I had to call the vet to see if that was normal. (heehee).....it was!

Re: 7/11 Maggie AMPS 215; +3 109; +8.5 167; PMPS 94

Barb, apparently the eating thing is from the trauma of the enema this past Tuesday. The Technicians said she was quite upset at them for giving the enema. She was the same way lst enema, but this one was a little worse. The Vet had me increase the Cisapride to help with her colon muscles contracting. She was getting enough Miralax, as the poo was soft that came out from the enema. Sorry to go into such detasil close to the dinner hour.

(((Ann))) What a worrisome couple of days for you. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: I'm glad Mags has started to show a little more interest in food now. I'm piling on tons of healing vines for Maggie.

Re: 7/11 Maggie AMPS 215; +3 109; +8.5 167; PMPS 94

Aww..I didn't know this enema was worse than the last. I thought it was a bit easier because they addressed her back pain. We don't care about how icky the details can be, we just care about Maggie!

Ok, Maggie...you've got a ton of love behind you....let's eat up and feel better, OK?

I'm glad to see Mags rising instead of dropping. She did eat some of the blended Wellness from the dish, not much but enough to keep her numbers up. She also had a little soft poo coming forth as I can see it now with her sani cut, but she won't let me touch her, so it's apparently still sensitive/painful there. She jerks away.

Amy, yes this one even though they addressed her pain seemed to wipe her out. She was there for the day though, as they wanted to watch her and make sure she was cleaned out.

Thanks Wendy & Neko for the healing vines. Today she's showing more interest in food. I will still ask on an appy stim.

Thanks Kathie so much for the vines and for your support. I have been thinking about you and so glad to stay in touch. Lots of hugs back to you.

Hi Ann & Maggie,

Maggie, we want you to enjoy your good fuds and hope that you are feeling better this evening. You are a super-brave kitty and we are proud of you!

Ann, I hope that every day will go a little bit better and that very soon Maggie will feel fine again. She is really being very patient. I hope that the various meds and appetite stimulants will help, and that the binders will help with the potassium. Have you tried the hard-boiled egg whites mixed into her food? You could probably puree them in a blender, too, along with the Wellness.

Thinking of you this evening.

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Maggie sounds like a very patient baby, I do think they know we are helping them and they seem to do their best to be good for us. Hope Mags starts feeling better,Your a good mom.

Hi Ann. Maggie had nice numbers today. It looks like the water at the Lagoon might be a bit too cool for surfing tonight. I hope she gets her appetite back and she gets too feeling better. Still sending poo vines along with the get better vines.

Have a great night Ann.

Poo patrol is sending appy vines too. We know how stressful poor or no appy is on the beans. :YMHUG: Ms Mags has some darn good numbers despite it all.

Hi Ann,
I'm gland Maggie is showing more interests in food, even a little bit.
I hope she'll recover from all the enema stress soon. Poor Maggie.
Sending more appy vines....

Sorry to be so late and sending healing and eating vines to Mags. The phosphorus level is probably a big reason why she doesn't want to eat. You are right that you should give her what she will eat and adjust the I Sikkim dose.

Hugs Ann. We are thinking of you.
