Whew!! What a day it's been!! I need a couple of strong adult beverages!!!
Started out great....Miss China was back in the lagoon where she belongs.....then it got pretty crazy.
As I was on my way to the vet (about 20 miles out of 60), I got a phone call from one of the ladies in DM's building....she said mom had fallen and they couldn't get her up. At first I said I'd be there as soon as possible, but then realized the road I was on had noplace I could turn around for at least another 10 miles, so I called 911 and sent them. Of course they decided she needed to go to the hospital so they transported her.....luckily to the hospital in the same city I was on my way to with China!! Got her to the vet and told them what was going on and asked if they could hang onto her for a little while so I could go see what was going on at the ER. They were very nice about it, saying I could leave her overnight if I wanted (of course I couldn't since they don't have any insulin and I wouldn't trust them to give 1.25 anyway).....so off I went to the ER, leaving her there to have the senior blood panel, SDMA, clean her ears and trim her nails....and TRY to get a urine sample....her bladder was too empty to tap so they hoped she'd supply them with a sample (she didn't)
Mom was OK....no broken bones, but a little banged up and bruised. Sat and waited and waited and waited, hearing absolutely nothing. Mentioned to the nurse that I had to go pick up my cat and if we didn't hear something soon, I'd have to leave, go get her, take her home and come back later for mom....still didn't get any update....finally, I walked out and said I was going to go pick up my cat (after hearing her say to mom "I don't have time to worry about a darn cat") and IF they were releasing mom, I could either come back and get her in 30 minutes or I'd have to come back later on around 7:30 after taking her home and doing T/F/S.....all the sudden.....Oh, well she's been released....I'll have her paperwork ready in about 5 minutes!!....so finally got mom, headed over to the vet (on the other side of town) and picked up China, and now we wait for the bloodwork results (probably Thurs)
In good news, China's BG when we walked in the door after all that was only 148....and she's back on duty at the lagoon now!!
I guess maybe that Answers food was the culprit and it just took awhile to effect her and then took awhile to work it's way out.
Mama is happy....but very very very tired!!!
And when I got home, the strips I'd bought on Ebay were here....800 for $144...SCORE!!! (the electric company isn't going to be happy when they don't get paid this month, but I couldn't resist a deal like that!)
