Maggie did great at the vet. The vet said she looks like a different cat from the one she saw 3 weeks ago. Unfortunately, she has a lingering UTI, so we'll be doing another course of amoxicillin. I just hope it helps her feel that much better.

Those UTIs can be tough, but I'm glad she's feeling much better! Did they do a culture&sensitivity to make sure amoxicillin is the right antibiotic for the bacteria she has?

Feel better, Maggie!

No, she didn't suggest a C&S this time, and I didn't ask. She did say Maggie will be prone to UTIs because she is a CKD cat, so I may ask if I can do a week of antibiotics once a month (can't remember the term for this) to keep them at bay.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes!! :cat: :bighug:

Maggie is prone to UTIs. What is your experience using D-Mannose? Does it require increasing your insulin dose to cover the sugars in it? Thanks!

I have used D Mannose for years on myself and my cats as well as shelter cats community water ....
have had great success with it without any negative side effects. I avoid the one with cranberry.
It is even better as prevention than as treatment. I would start it as soon as possible after the AB especially if prone to UTI.
When a infection is present and kitty is already feeling awful I think AB would be called for because you don't want it getting more serious and causing other issues. It is tasteless (it does have a tiny sweet taste but cats don't register the sweet )
No increase in insulin is needed it will not affect BG
