Gracie's Yesterday

Happy Tuesday afternoon! Many caring thoughts and healing vines to all ailing kitties and beans today.
Lovely green birthday gift for me last night....thank you Miss Gracie! She took a little detour to high blue but then surprised us by coming way back down today :shock: :shock: She's had a great morning and early afternoon and is asleep in Daddy's unmentionables drawer right now. Sweet baby!
I was at the IM specialist with Gus for HOURS and just got home. Of course, everyone fell head over heels in love with Gus. The vet did a good exam of him.....looked thoroughly in his mouth and under his tongue. On U/S, he looked at liver, kidney, bladder, pancreas, stomach, gall bladder, spleen, and large/small intestines. He said it was all pretty durn unremarkable. There was one small stone in one kidney that he did not think was any issue or would become one. He said the veins to his liver seemed somewhat enlarged and that it could either be the norm for Gus or there could be a heart issue and blood from the right atrium could be backing up. So they did an xray of his heart to see if it was enlarged (he said he'd only do an echo if there was any abnormality on the xray...good way to save $$). He said everything was normal and the radiologist agreed it's probably just Gus. He said there was no thickening of intestines....no lymph node evidence....nothing. YAY!!!!! So...he said just add a little fiber to his diet. He was impressed that his renal disease was really stable and so was his weight. After the U/S (Gus was fantastic), I knew he would be a bit stiff so I put him on the floor and I told them not to worry....if we just walked to the exam room, he'd follow us. And he did
Now it's nap time for us all!!! (Don't worry....Mike is BIC of Gracie today).
One interesting note....the vet today (Dr. M) and I got into a discussion about a vet (who is a good friend of his) to whom I had taken Gracie once and who had tried to give me metacam. This vet got really mad at me when I refused it for Gracie. I told him I was surprised the other vet had tried to give it when it had a black box warning for cats. He said that metacam will very shortly be approved for use in cats!!!!!
Thanks again for all the wonderful birthday wishes yesterday. I had a fantastic day and the best gift ever last night....a full, solid night's sleep with no interruption!!! WOOOOTTT!!!
