Cleo has 4 P's in place this morning. She ate a good amount of Wellness Turkey. Cleaned her first breffis, and about 1/2 of her second. Out on catio relaxing. It is a little funny how angry she seems when she doesn't get a food she likes a lot. Real cattitude :-D

I was able to buy 14 more cans of the old style Cowboy Cookout at Petco yesterday. On clearance for 70cents per 5.5oz can!! :-D They have the new cans also, but the Cowboy Cookout is sliced in gravy..wonder what the numbers will be on that!!

Hi Jane and CLeo - just wanted to extend our congratulations on day 4 of OTJ! Also happy you found the cowboy cookout on sale - I may have to give that a try. It seems pretty popular. Maybe it would be something Bob would eat!!

PMPG 100 I Fed Max Cat Chick Supreme/phos 173/CARB 9%!! So, I tested again at +1.75 and she was 132. I will test again at +3

This OTJ trial is a scary business! nailbite_smile But, if she needs some help, I got the goods!

Wink has been OTJ for 4 months now. I watch the carb content of the food carefully because those Friskies 8% and 9% carbs can raise Wink's numbers 30 points more than the Fancy Feast pates do.

The Merrick website implies that the "new" Cowboy cookout is not a replacement, but a variation. It is in the "Purrfect Bistro" group. They also list the "Classic" flavors. http://www.merrickpetcare.com/consu...15&categories=Cat-Classic-Recipes#Cat-Classic (You have to click on "wet" and then "Classic".)

It looks to me like Petco is discontinuing the classic flavors, not Merrick.

Oh Ella, I am so happy to hear that! She really enjoys the Cowboy Cookout!!

We had very bad storms here, bad thunder/lightning, our power kept going out (thankfully just for a few minutes at a time). Cleo and the droolers were hiding. Opie & Simon spent time playing in the cubes.

Finally quieted down now. Cleo came hurrying out to eat. When I tested her at +3.5 she was even higher at 138. Should a 9% carb make that much difference in her BG? Just not sure what to do? Just test in am as usual? I fed the rest of the 9% to the civvies and Cleo is slurping up her CC.

Thanks for any advice!

No, Sienne - I bought it by mistake. Got wrapped up in the phosphorus number (173), and didn't notice how high the carb was. I printed out your list and highlighted what Cleo could eat. I highlighted the Max Cat Chicken Supreme, not realizing the carbs. :?
 
Rhiannan and Shadow did a shortcut list from Dr Piersons cat food chart. I did a shortcut of that list with only the low carb and low phosphorus. There are still some 8% and 9% carbs on this list that you will need to cross off. Here it is:
