Good morning LL! It's a sunny start for the mighty Z and another boring Monday AMPS test, feed and shoot. We LOVE those! No cold, wet surprises for bare bean feet this morning. :-D

@Michelle & Mannie - thanks for stopping in last night and celebrating our rain! The kitties were not so keen on the rain, wet paddy paws you know. But they did love the cool down and Zener had a little bounce in his step! We got about a tenth of an inch, so it was measurable rain.

@Wendy & Neko - LOVE the trade, we'll take a little more moisture please.

Our heat wave has a big dent in it and temps should hover near 90 for a few days, then back to normal with the start of our monsoon pattern. While celebrating the return of moisture and our southwestern monsoons, we also get dry lightening and gusty unpredictable winds. In the Prescott area, about 2 hours from where we live, the firefighters just got one wildland fire under control and another started on Saturday due to dry lightening. This one started in an area that hadn't seen fire in over 40 years and was full of drought killed trees with other large amounts of fuel. Sadly, in the 115F heat and gusty dry thunderstorm generated winds, the fire blew up from 20 acres to over 2000 acres yesterday and 19 wildland firefighters were trapped and killed. The largest loss of firefighter lives in Arizona and the most in the US since 9-11.

Re: 7/1 Zener AMPS 279

It's so sad to hear about the firefighters. They are true hero's. My heart goes out to their family and friends. I am sure the whole community is so deeply saddened by this horrible tragedy.

But there is some good news....weather is breaking and you guys are cooling off a bit. I hope that the weather doesn't scream and holler and cause any more havoc. Happy to hear that Zener has a pep to the step! Nothing better than that!

Re: 7/1 Zener AMPS 279

Praying for more rain for AZ and NM. At least it's in the forecast for the week.

Those were hot shots so it's even more tragic.
The saddest part about fires (all emergencies ) is people evacuate and leave their animals at home....

Re: 7/1 Zener AMPS 279

No cold, wet surprises for bare bean feet this morning. :-D
That is good news. :-D Glad all is okay in that department. Boring Mondays are good for the Bean. You can relax and have some coffee.
So tragic about the firefighters. Prayers and vines go out to their family and friends.

Re: 7/1 Zener AMPS 279

Woohoo for boring mornings!!!

I saw that many firefighters gave their lives yesterday....many prayers to their families, and everyone else affected by the fires.

Re: 7/1 Zener AMPS 279

Hi Anne. Nice that Zener is off to a sunny start of his day. I'm sure Liz will give the BIC an A+ when she returns.

We were so saddened when we heard about the 19 firefighters loosing their lives. Our hearts and Prayers go out to their families and loved ones.

Have a great day Anne.

Looks like the mighty Z has a flat yellow surf going today. If this is a bounce after getting to greens yesterday, it's not too bad . Poo patrol report is good (Chief Inspector Crapdash reporting alone while Detective Poo is away) - a nice healthy poo. If further details are needed, let CI Crapdash know, she loves the details of poo.

@Deb & Spot - we love good news about the mighty Z. ;-) We are expecting temps above normal for a few more days, but some chances of rain so not record breakers.

@rhiannon & shadow - Zener sure feels better with the cooler temps, so we have paws crossed for further monsoon development. It's not looking too promising for anything today. We hope it is starting for you all in NM too, and without the dry lightening. It was a hot shot crew from Prescott, they lost 18 out of the 20 person crew - devastating.

@Ann & Maggie - we LOVE boring Mondays, no coffee drinkers here but I had a lovely pot of tea. ~O) Zener has been lounging comfortably, enjoying having the windows open a little later this morning.

@Amy & TrixieCat - three cheers for boring mornings! :thumbup

@John - and it's looking like a flat sunny cycle, so the pokey break is on. ;-) Liz is a tough grader, so an A+ would be extremely rare!

Only one more dark until MamaLizBean comes home. Her workshop ended yesterday and she spent last night and tonight with friends in Vancouver. They live in a lovely area near Pacific Palisades Park and took a gorgeous walk yesterday evening, with er um.....droolers. :o Liz says they are small dogs and more catlike.

Re: 7/1 Zener AMPS 279;+3 252;+5.5 255

Afternoon to you, yes horrible about firefighters, I lived inn Colorado not to far form where that fire took the lives of our firefighters. hope they ca get a good grip on all this ad everyone else stays safe...

Come down Zener more stuff to do o the ground...

Re: 7/1 Zener AMPS 279;+3 252;+5.5 255

Definitely F L A T yellow. Maybe saving something for when the night bean is at her best? Dry feet are the best. I made the mistake of walking the yard in bare feet last night, found slugs. Ewww!

The story of the firefighers sure hits home. Both my DF (city) and DBIL (forest fires) were firefighters - glad they are retired now. Paws crossed for much more rain your way soon.

I hope Liz has fun celebrating Canada Day with us wild Canadians today.

Re: 7/1 Zener AMPS 279;+3 252;+5.5 255

Hi Ann, Liz and Mr Z,

Fires are really scary - as are dry lighting storms. My thoughts and wishes go out to those poor men who lost their lives and their families. Melbourne (where I live) is still reeling from the terrible fires four years ago.

I hope the monsoon weather comes quickly and puts an end to fire season.

Hi Anne,

How tragic for those firefighters and their families. Our local news are referring to them as "the best of the best." What a dangerous profession. Hope the fire is contained now.

Glad you had another uneventful day :-D

Re: 7/1 Zener AMPS 279;+3 252;+5.5 255

Glad to hear you had another boring morning and the heat is not as bad. That is so horrible about the firefighters. My prayers go out to their families.

I hope Zener clears the bounce soon and gets back to the lagoon.

Re: 7/1 Zener AMPS 279;+3 252;+5.5 255

Hi Anne......how crazy it sounds, to hear you call 90, a relief from the heat. We have another rained-all-day, day, and temps in the 60's. After watching the news, I can't complain. As my son says, "Buffalo has a beautiful summer, it's the other 11 months that suck!"
Unbearably sad, that those brave firefighters lost their lives, helping others.

Mr Z had such a flat yellow day, that tomorrow has to be gorgeous green! :-D

Re: 7/1 Zener AMPS 279;+3 252;+5.5 255

We just got back from the citizenship ceremony for my two friends on Canada Day at Canada Place in Vancouver! :-D :-D Very, very cool! It lasted about 1.5 hrs, and had all kinds of officials there. This wasn't the small, short ceremony in a small room. It was 60 people from 30 different countries so it was a symbolic ceremony of how welcoming Canada is to immigrants. It's a beautiful, sunny day. We had a nice lunch at Cardero's on the pier to celebrate. So Happy Canada Day!

It is terrible about the firefighters. Very sad.
Liz

Re: 7/1 Zener AMPS 279;+3 252;+5.5 255

I just googled it - Arizona, near the grand canyon. :-D I could have done that before asking! Wow - more spectacular landscape photos! Do you get coyotes, rattle snakes and eagles too? Marje was telling me about them.

Re: 7/1 Zener PMPS 265

A flat yellow day perfectly matching another hot day in the low 90s F. Ugh. Boy howdy did we work it to get a safe amount down the hatch for shot time. I gave him a little cypro appy stimulant, just to be sure for later. I think it's just the heat. No one has good appy tonight.

@Linda & Lucky - yes, it's a terrible thing about the fire fighters. If you lived in Colorado then you know how our weather can be this time of year. Zener's been flat yellow all day. He does not like the heat. And neither do I.

@Wendy & Neko - still pretty flat, the heat is making us all a little wacko. It's the last dark before MamaLizBean comes home, so who knows what the mighty Z might do. Still no rain, but at least we don't have slugs!

@Grace & Angie - g'day in Melbourne! Liz has a niece who lives there and loves it. She emigrated when George Bush was president and has never come back to the US. Many of the type of firefighters that were killed here travel all over the world to fight fires, several had been in Australia fire fighting. Liz is in Vancouver BC Canada right now attending a workshop and visiting with friends. We live in Flagstaff Arizona, in the northern part of Arizona in some mountains with much cooler weather than where Marje lives in the deserts. From our front door to the entrance to Grand Canyon National Park is 90 minutes. We have coyotes and eagles where we live, but not too many snakes. You need to drop in altitude for them. You can see rattlesnakes in Grand Canyon.

@Cleo & Jane - we had an uneventful day, it was too darn hot for us to get in any trouble. The heat has sent everyone's appy to ground though, so a little stress at shot time. nailbite_smile

@carla - I should never have written in Zener's condo it was cooling off - jinx. :YMSIGH: No containment on the fire, it's gonna grow even bigger.

@Barb & Checkers - after 96F, 90 seemed cooler. We would love some of your rain here! For the most part, we only have one month of heat and that's June. And we rank above Buffalo in average snowfall! As for the flat yellows, Zener could do anything!

Hoping everyone has a calm and drama free evening in LL. :YMHUG:

Re: 7/1 Zener PMPS 265

Hi, Anne, sorry dining tonight was a struggle. The heat makes everyone slow down, even appetites.

Very sad about the firefighters. I've visited Prescott a couple of times, and that close-knit community must be going through a very hard time right now. So tragic.

It's exciting that Liz is coming home soon! I bet you and the crew will be so happy to have her back :-D
Good job being the BIC, Anne!
I've enjoyed all the creative and cute pics you've been posting on condos :-D You have quite a collection!

Wow, what a flat yellow day. Once the temps went down tonight around 9pm, Zener got much more active and started feeling better. This heat wave can't break soon enough for us all!

@Josie & Ripley - you are so right about the heat slowing everything down, including appy. The whole posse will be soooo glad to have Liz home. I pick her up from the shuttle tomorrow night around 10pm. Thanks for the kind words about my term as BIC. ;-) When we were first on the board, there was a member named Celi and her kitty Binks. Celi found the most hilarious pictures and always put them on condos at just the right time. I asked her where she found them and she said she spent way to much time on the google. So, now I do too.

One more dark and MamaLizBean will be home! :RAHCAT

Ni Ni LL. I-)
