Morning LL! ~O)

Purrcie is feeling a bit better this AM. He got 1/4 baby aspirin last night which does alot of good for his arthritis and aches and pains. He was in a much better mood this AM, head butting, terrorizing his sister Blossom and with an appetite. All that despite his high AMPS.

I am doing a little better meal distribution today I hope, just a little bit at preshot, then at +1.5 a little more. He did want to gulp it all down but I was smarter today and just gave him a wee bit, then a wee bit more. I'll see at +3 how this is working out.

I had to back off so much testing as he was getting really high and mighty about it. We've had such a great rapport for so many years and that is so important to me to maintain his trust and friendship. So with the background I have so far on his SS I'm going to try and give him a little more breathing room between tests unless I see he needs close scrutiny.

I did send JIll a PM last night about managing the curve through feeding so I hope I hear from her. Well I hope I wrote to the right Jill. There are two I found in the members list, one had over 2,000 posts and the other just over 200 so I wrote to the 2000+ Jill. :-D

Purrcie says he's ready for cinnamon cake at Tori's tonight! He's gotten plenty of rest the last two days and is outside right now polishing the catillac so he can take kitties for rides over at Tori's party tonight. If anybody needs a ride to the party Purrcie says he'll be glad to pick up kitties on the way.

Purrcie, could you give me alift in your shiny caddy?? Does it have a stocked bar of catnip and salmon pate? I know what you mean about the ear testing. I'm beginning to let my humom know how I feel about that! Anyway, glad you are feeling a little better and hope you keep up the smooth sailing.

Hi !! you got the right Jill - she isn't always online, but will get your PM. I had asked her the same thing a while back in regards to Mannie. Feeding the front end of the cycle has done a world of good for Mannie. He was such a bouncer, and this method has really helped to level him out some. In a nutshell, I feed as follows: at PS, usually about 1 -2 ounces, then a smaller amount at +1, again at +2, and finally at +4. It has really helped to flatten out those bounces and the curve. hope this helps...

Purrcie! you have that catillac already to go? It would be SO COOL if you could give Tori, the birthday girl, a ride in it. She would be so happy! I am at Stu's helping him finish up the birthday cake - cinnamon!! See you there! ~~ Mannie

Glad you are trying the mini meals....that shows dedication! :thumbup It's better to USE food and give them a series of mini meals at the beginning of the cycle. Good habit to get into cause it will soften the drops that so many kitties experience. Good job! LC is sometimes all you need to keep the numbers steady.
Nice blue so far today....hope a nice surf results.

Re: 7/1 Purrcie AMPS 306+3 115 polishing the catillac

loading up the first part of the cycle with mini-meals will help to smooth out those fast early drops by having food on board at onset (feeding slows the action of the insulin down). initially, i suggest dividing up a meal into 3 - 4 equal portions and then feeding at ps, +1, +2, and +3. however, there's a lot of trial and error involved here. ECID in how they respond to insulin AND food. you must learn how your cat responds to low, medium, and high carb foods (and don't forget treats) as well as the insulin. at that point, you'll be ready to tweak the feeding schedule to fit your cat's needs.

a cat with CRF presents a few more challenges because they don't always want to eat. this is has to be taken into consideration. for example, before alex showed signs of liver and kidney disease, i was able to feed as i described above. at that time she'd eat whatever was put in front of her, whenever it was put in front of her. now, not-so-much. i've had to feed at ps time and then try to catch the drop before she'd drop too low. i also know i can bump up her numbers easily with a few freeze dried chicken treats or a little bit of lc. stuff like like this is what i mean by knowing how your cat responds to food and insulin.

try loading up the cycle with food early. in no time at all you'll begin to see patterns. this will help you figure out the best feeding schedule for purrcie (love his name!).

oh geez, now that Purrcie has a pink catillac I'm never going to see Lucy again. She's a sucker for guys with cars...

Hey guys!

Thanks heaps for the feeback on how to feed the cycle! It makes sense and in the trials and errors( oh lots of those) so far I am beginning to see patterns emerging and learning what will bring him up and help level out the curves.

He won't always eat when I would like but OH! those freeze dried treats have made him interested in taking a bite or two when I know he wouldn't otherwise.

Hey, Purrcie....Spot thinks you look really spiffy in your pink Cattillac! He also thinks ti would be just so cool if you picked up all the kitties tonight to head on over to Tori's.

I think we're both doomed! Purrcie melts over blue eyes and I saw him holding up a photo of Lucy while he was slicking back his whiskers in the mirror. I heard him asking Spot about her the other night when they were leaving for Tray's party.

Oh OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! Does Lucy have a curfew?

Purrcie says (in low raspy voice like Pepe Le Pew) HO HO my cherie! I have dreamed of the day when you would ask me this!
I would be pawsitively delighted! If you do not find the bar to your liking we will make a pet stop and fill it with every detail! We can even get sugar free Kit Kats!
And I'm not kitten!

Very nice numbers for Purrcie tonight.

Mannie IS the man! He already promised to introduce Purrcie to some of the ladies and maybe even share some special numbers from his little green book!
