7/1 Merlin PMPS 419 400 @+1, 266@+2, 221 @+3, 227@+4

We are getting down to the end of this first Lantus pen. Ive been suspecting that its lost its potency somehow, even though it has been in the fridge and only been in use for a month. I think maybe tomorrow morning we should start a new pen and see if that makes a difference.

You are finishing one Lantus pen? That seems a bit too quickly. We finished the first one in about half a year and Chico was on much higher doses. Unless you have white sediments on the bottom the pen should be fine considering that you kept it in the fridge.

In my opinion Merlin finally read the rule book and started reacting to insulin as expected, you might need to consider in a couple of cycles if it is not time to increase again.

We are rooting for you two :bighug:

Thank you, Marina. Yes, all three of us have been practicing with this pen and wasting a lot of insulin. We have never shot back into the pen, so there is no contamination. It’s just been a case of overdrawing. Maybe they come in smaller amounts in the pens here in Ireland also? We were just saying this morning, if Merlin hadn’t had the overdose to recover from, he may have reacted this way to the .25. This is probably what a normal cat starting off on a small dose of Lantus looks like…?

I saw on the sticky that the 3ml Lantus pen (or is it the amount of them in the box) was discontinued in the US? This is what I have.

Could someone please direct me to, or send me a picture of .5 drawn up in the Lantus syringe? I cant remember if the plunger top aligns with the top, bottom, or middle of the .5 line…

I am located in the Czech republic and i asked in the pharmacy for ampules not the pens so that is what we are using,
i don’t know what is the amount in the pen but haven’t heard of people giving such small dose to go thru an entire pen so quickly, you must have tested a lot :p

To me this looks like a cat that needs more insulin and it makes sense cause even when he was diving he wasn’t flattening which was an indication he will need more. There is nothing you could have done differently, you had to decrease to keep him safe and i hope now the increases will help him flatten. Im no expert, just a by stander who like numbers and patterns, so don’t take my word as “the truth”

nonetheless you are doing an amazing job with him, we are rooting for you two :bighug:
