Good morning,
Last night was a bounce recovery from yesterday am cycle of low green numbers all cycle long, managed with feeding mostly 1/2 tsp of 12.5% through the cycle to keep her coasting when she dropped.
(Am I feeding snacks too much on this dose when I’m feeding every 1/2 hour to hour at most??) How would you handle active doses like this??

Hoping the depot is drained and we can see good numbers without me feeding carbs constantly to keep her from dropping.

Last night fed meal and first 2/3 snacks 12.5% so she would stay safe as we went out to dinner.
Back to the work week today, home to monitor.

Is it July already????
Have a good day all. Safe surfing :cat:

Looks like you kept her coasting pretty well all day yesterday and she didn't bounce sky high over night/early this morning.
It was a lot of work to keep her coasting yesterday, Heather. Snacks every 30-60 minutes through the cycle. I'd like to be feeding less food all cycle long. Seems like way too much food and possibly too much insulin?:banghead:

Good morning Staci,
I agree with @Heather82372 that you did a great job managing her lows yesterday AM! And she didn't have a trampoline jump! :)
I'd say that's a major victory!
I hope the reduction is kicking in and Ivy coasts nicely without you intervening every so often!

Happy July and safe surfing ;) :bighug::bighug::bighug:
Happy July, Kit. Wow! She didn't jump up high until early this am, so interesting. Just way too much feeding all cycle long. There has to be a better balance which I need to crack the code to get some better balance for her (and me). FD is so complicated.:banghead:

I hope things are balanced and calm for you and Mikan today!:bighug::bighug::bighug:

She did well yesterday.
Maybe next time she gets low like that (I mean with safe numbers on the Contour, I see a 73 and then you did not double check again, you assumed she was still higher than that?), you can try to feed her less and see what she does.
As long as she acts normally and stays in safe numbers, she is not really at risk, especially if you are home, so if you are worried you might be feeding too much and sending her too high, maybe something to try?
But otherwise she's doing well, so as long as what you are doing works for you, you don't have to change anything :bighug:

Hi Cecile, Yep, we got a 73 then when I tried to get more BG tests either not enough blood (since she claws her way out) or she wasn't having any more poking). The issue is as soon as the carbs wear off (rather quickly, she drops again). I hear what you are saying...just let her drop (but not knowing what she's going down to if I can't get a test, it makes me very concerned how low is she going and without carbs). It's a struggle.
The carbs don't send her too high, they just keep her in the range of good, green BG.
Thanks for your ideas :)

Hi Staci. I’ve wondered the same thing about amount of food. I’ve been trying a higher carb but less of it, each time. Tiger is not a big eater and refuses to eat quickly. Like Ivy LC or Mc doesn’t help him. I now do a small amount of higher carb and can keep him eating it for a longer period and the small amount doesn’t make him jump way up. Not perfect but better…

Interesting, Deb. How much do you feed him, how often? I think you use 20%, correct? @Deb and Tiger

I do use 20%. Anything lower has no effect when he’s diving down. I do 1/2 -1 tsp and watch for 20-30 mins. If he’s still diving I give it again. Usually it works but sometimes after an hour he may need it again. Usually that holds it but this is where I still have problems sometimes with it going too high. I’m still working on that part. Next time I may use his regular 12% for the last “dose” of food….i keep playing with it and have managed some longer runs of blues.
For such a big kitty he fills up quickly, he’s a grazer for sure. I still keep the syrup handy!

Hi Staci and Ivy
Just dropping by to day hello and check on our sweet girl. She's doing pretty good and very stable today. No big jumps or dives.
As always you manage her so well.
Wishing you both a good week ahead

You’re sweet, Karolina. Thank you for your support and for checking on us. Pretty unremarkable day here, yet a nice break after yesterday.
Hoping her cycles get a little more inspired but not too crazy. Tomorrow would be good in my book!
I hope you, Nestle and Peanut are having a nice, peaceful Canada Day with no loud and annoying fireworks!! :bighug:❤️:bighug:❤️

Well I’m going to throw a monkey wrench into the works but I don’t think her numbers warranted the frequency or higher carbs. A 73 on the Contour is a good normal and you know she’s higher on the C than the L. But without testing again on the C for a Lo on the Libre, such as +7, there is no justification for co tinting to feed higher carbs. JMO.

I feel like if I weren’t feeding the higher carbs, she would be going lower (on the Contour). It seems like she keeps dropping once the carbs wear off when she’s in these lower, active cycles. So I kept feeding her more carbs to try to keep her stable and not going lower.

I'm happy to hear you're having a bit of a break. We need those every now and then.

There's been some fireworks going off for the past hour but they're not directly beside us so that's good. Peanut has been really brave, he didn't run and/or hide. He's even been out on the balcony. Very proud of him :cat:

Wishing you and Ivy a peaceful night

Do you think with less insulin she'll need less carbs? Maybe that 50 she got the other day warranted another decrease with less carbs? Just a thought... ?

Thanks for the review and suggestions, Heather.
The 50 on her SS was a Libre reading, so that equates to a higher reading when tested on a handheld meter, so it didn’t warrant a reduction based on that number.
I reduced her recently because she’s been in lower ranges and I was having to keep her boosted so much with constant carbs just to hold the 60s-80s I was testing on the handheld meter. :bighug:
