Sorry I was MIA again yesterday. I didn't get a chance to sit down at the computer until late afternoon, and then discovered the internet was down! It was still down when I went to bed around 2:30 am! Apparently there was some vandalism/terrorism in the Bay Area that involved slicing fiber optic cables, and large portions of the San Francisco to Sacramento area lost their internet!!!
WTH is wrong with people?????
I was able to use my tablet to get online, but I had to use my minutes to do it, so was very sparing about how much time I spent. By then it was too late to do a condo, anyway.
So anyway, here we are, plugging along. Cinco stepped right back into the same pattern on his "regular" dose without missing a beat. I had to give the shot last night, and I was positive I got it all in - no insulin smell, but when I saw his numbers, I questioned myself. Now I'm wondering if it could have been a bounce, seeing that he did come down and was considerably lower at AMPS. That made me feel a little better. I am starting to lose confidence in my ability to give him his injections. Darn fingers just don't work well enough.
I was gone between +2.5 and +5.5 today, so I don't know if he went lower than 67, but I was happy to see him in the lagoon again.
Yesterday was litter changing day, and I took the opportunity to remove the second litter box from the bar area, leaving just the giant one Cinco was using with no problem before his hot spots. HUGE ANTI-JINX, but so far, so good!
Of course, the first thing he did was get in and deposit a loose poo up against the side.
But, it was all IN the box, so I got over it. Also, he seems to be leaving his hot spots alone, and I haven't found any sign of new ones (more anti-jinx)! Paws crossed this is all behind us. The question is, what happens when/if I take him off the Zyrtec? Or is it the fish oil that's helping? I also think the latter is making his poos looser, so I've reduced his squash and increased his Forti Flora.
Minka has had a couple of so-so days in a row. Not bad enough for appy stimulants, but I had to work to get enough food into her. I did give her some Cypro a little while ago, to see if I can break the streak. She seems to feel okay - not great, but not bad. Frustrating.
Harvey's IM e-mailed me last night to say, apologetically, that they had somehow not done a culture from the urine they took last week, and could I please bring him in this morning to try again?
Of course, I did. She also gave me some food to try - Hill's d/d. It comes in duck and venison, and I was hoping this would be more successful, as he has liked the other duck and venison foods he's had. We tried the duck when we got home and he gave it a few licks, but that was all. However, he seems a little off today, so it may not be the food. I gave him some Ondansetron, and we'll see if that helps. He did like the dry she sent home, but I'm more concerned about the moist. We'll try the venison tonight.
She does NOT think that Harvey is diabetic
, based on his numbers, but thinks the Pred and maybe something else (UTI or kidney infection?) is causing the higher BGs. That's why we are still pursuing a more GI friendly diet, with the goal of reducing the Pred. She said if these flavors don't work out, it's okay to try the kangaroo, but her concern about that is, if he likes it and I can't get more of it (it is hard to find, I understand), we are back where we started. We'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
It's HOT here - 103 yesterday and probably close to 100 today. Summer appies are also in play with everyone but steady eddy Cinco. We're supposed to get a little relief from the Delta breezes starting tonight. My wallet would really appreciate that. I don't think the A/C has been off for more than 30 minutes the past two days.
Other than the summer appy, Sasha is doing well. She likes the d/d dry, too, and I think it's a good one for her, as it's for skin support, and she's always been kind of itchy. Haven't tried the canned on her yet. Too bad it's 17-19%, or I'd feed it to Cinco. Maybe for when he's diving.
News flash: Minka just came in and is eating Harvey's d/d duck moist! She likes it!
Guess the C&C kicked in. It's nice and low in Phosphorus, too, so it's a good one for her as well as Harvey. It's also got a decent amount of calories.
There was a HUGE traffic mess on the way back from UCD, which took us an extra half hour to get home. I haven't had lunch yet and am starving, so I'm going to grab something to eat, then I need to run some errands. I'll try to do some visiting tonight.
Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans.
Extra prayers and vine to Amy's DF, Marje's DM, Chris' DM, Molly's DM and Elise's DM.
