AMBG - 100
+2 100
+6.75 78

PMBG 105
+3 108
+6.5 76 3 hours after last meal!

According to OTJ trial instructions, I should retest her in 3 hours, but I have to leave for work in 2 hours, so I will test then. I will come home on lunch to give everyone a small meal. Not sure if I should test then, depending on what her numbers are on my O-T-D test.

4 P's in place for Miss Cleo this morning. Ate a little Turducken (the grossest looking food yet), and another 1 1/2 tsp of Cowboy Cookout. She is out on catio, waiting for the sun to come up. No rain yet.

Last night I opened up a can of FF liver and Chicken (phos 598) for my civies. That was everyone's favorite. In a blink of an eye, she was inside, her little nose sniffing the air. She was looking up at "civvies" side of counter, and I thought she was going to try and jump up, without her "stairs." Civvie Simon jumped down and Cleo went over to him quickly.I saw fear in Simon's eyes cause she does not like them near her. She sniffed his mouth thoroughly, then went up to her counter, sniffed her Wellness Turkey, and turned and gave me the look. Her eyes said it all, I want the good stuff too. So, I think I am eventually going to make them all eat the low phos food. Just have to get another job

She is waiting for more food right now, but she already had a small meal so, I guess I can't feed till after I test.

Have a wonderful Monday LL, Healing & appy vines to all in need. Hugs and comforting to beans in need.

Re: 7/08 Cleo AMBG 100

I've learned the hard way it's almost impossible to give one cat something different than another cat. They can always smell it.

I hope Cleo gives you a nice green for your out the door test. The 100 is still within normal range. She's looking good this morning.

Re: 7/08 Cleo AMBG 100

I decided to treat the 100 as a 99. So, when I do her PMBG, if she is blue, I will feed a small meal, and test again in 3 hours.

She was just so hungry, and to make her wait for a +2 to eat again, when I am not even sure a +2 would show what we are looking for just didn't make sense to me. Hope I did ok?

Re: 7/08 Cleo AMBG 100

Morning Jane,

Good luck with the OTJ trial, I will be thinking about Cleo and hoping that it holds. I second that about trying to feed the cats different foods, didn't really work in my house either.

Have a good day,
Kathie

Re: 7/08 Cleo AMBG 100

Woohoooo on the OTJ trial! I can sympathize about the fuds situation. I have 5 cats...4 of whom are hardcore kibble addicts, and Trix, who gets her LC/low phos "slop". Since it has literally been impossible to convince the civvies they need to switch to a healthier diet, DH and I spend a lot of time play food police.

Have a great day!!

Re: 7/08 Cleo AMBG 100

I laughed when I read the part Cleo sniffing Simon's mouth and giving you the look.
Funny girl
I hope she'll hold the OTJ!

Re: 7/08 Cleo AMBG 100

Beautiful AMBG Cleo  I also have to agree with the food situation. I have 3 cats and had to transition them all to wet food. And then trying to feed them a different kind of food was impossible. So they all get a low carb wet food diet, which in the long run is better for all of them  And yes...I had to get a second job!!  Have a great day and GO CLEO...GO CLEO

Re: 7/08 Cleo AMBG 100

C'mon, Ms. P! You can do it! You're doing great, Jane. Small meals are the best, test when you can. :-D

Re: 7/08 Cleo AMBG 100;+2 100; +6.75 78

AMBG 100
+2 100
+6.75 78

I fed Cleo a few smalls meals after her AMBG since I knew I would not be home for a +3 test. So the second 100 was definitely influenced by food.

Ran home on lunch, tested her and fed her a small lunch, and left her some food out.

She is such a sweetie - if nothing else, this disease has brought us so much closer

PMBG 105

Not sure if Cleo's numbers are good enough without insulin nailbite_smile

She ate her first dinner very fast, and I see she threw it all up. I will wait a little while and feed her again.

Will I still have to wait 3 hours after her second feed to give her any more food?

Re: 7/08 Cleo AMBG 100;+2 100; +6.75 78;PMBG 105

Is it possible to give Cleo a little bit of food at +9 times? Then her pancreas has 3 hours to bring the numbers down and you might get a  PS. She did manage to get it down by +6.75 today. :-D

So far she is in nice normal numbers.

Re: 7/08 Cleo AMBG 100;+2 100; +6.75 78;PMBG 105

Is the main goal to get a test 3 hours after she has eaten? With no food in between?

Re: 7/08 Cleo PMBG 105; +3 108 BG test question

PMBG 105
+3 108

Cleo did a scarf and barf at her first dinner, so I have been feeding her little bits since then. All has stayed down. She just finished eating again. Should I now wait three hours and test? Will that be okay?

Thanks

Re: 7/08 Cleo PMBG 105; +3 108 BG test question

When her pancreas is working it will respond to the increase in BG from a meal and produce more insulin. That brings the numbers down and that is what you are looking for. The three hour is a guideline, not a hard and fast rule. BTW up to 120 is considered to be normal BG, we just like seeing it a little lower. We are all    junkies!

Re: 7/08 Cleo PMBG 105; +3 108 BG test question

Great job,I hate the eyes i get when withholding fuds, hard to feed all at same time time now use to be all 4 came running there not real happy with the choice of wet pete food. OH well, better for them.

Re: 7/08 Cleo PMBG 105; +3 108 BG test question

Ann's right -- it's great to have all green numbers but normal range is below 120.

With an OTJ trial, you really don't have to keep poking Cleo. The idea is that if you get a test that's outside of the normal range at pre-shout, test several hours later to see if food has caused endogenous insulin to be produced with the result of the numbers coming down.

BTW, if you are planning on switching all the kitties to Wellness, the cost per ounce for the 15 oz cans ends up to be less than the cost for Fancy Feast.

Re: 7/08 Cleo PMBG 105; +3 108 BG test question

15 oz cans? I will have to check on them. So far, Cowboy Cookout is her fav. She eats that like she ate FF. And I am not sharing that with the civvies!!

I will test her in about 30 minutes. It will be 3 hours since she last ate.

I think I will make some meatsicles for tomorrow, so I don't have to come home at lunch to give her fresh food.

AWESOME!

It's ok if you want to put OTJ Trial Day xx in the subject line each day. That way we can all count along with you :-D :-D :-D
