He refuses to eat pate, regardless of brand, even if I make "gravy" with warm water. He drinks the water and leaves the rest. Sometimes he just walks away altogether without even trying. He will starve himself rather than eat the wet food, which I can't have. I have taken food bowls up for 12 hours, and left the house since I couldn't take the howling and sadness, and he still won't touch it when I come home and try to feed him pate. He sometimes entertains himself with eating a little wet food that's not really great for him, like Friskies shreds or prime filets, but he really just wants to lick gravy and eat kibble. He never eats enough of the wet to sustain himself. I have not made another concerted effort since I was sick and then playing catch up with life and work, so hopefully I can try again over the weekend, now that life is getting back to "normal." Honestly, I don't know what else to do/try, and the multiple cat household makes life difficult. I have another cat I give meds to in Temptations treats and it's a stressful situation to put Jack in the bathroom so he doesn't get the treats everyone else is having- which he prefers to the nice piece of grilled chicken I give him. He howls and scratches the whole time he is locked up, so trying to keep him in a room with just wet food or portioned dry isn't an option. I'm open to any suggestions. I've read the sticky on transitioning; last time I really tried, he just didn't eat, so I caved and let him have kibble so I could give him insulin. With the (very) multiple cat household, portioning the dry for everyone is also a challenge. I am putting less and less in the bowls, but I have 2 that are binge eating and then throwing up.
