AMPS @ 10.5 first check was 178 which seemed "off" to me. Checked again in a few minutes;
AMPS 263 2 U
+4 212
+6 186

Very happy to have a good +6 today !
Still don't understand the 178 with two checks of AMPS this morning, then a 263 a few minutes later. I went ahead and shot based on the 263. Never has he been in the 100's in the morning.

What meter are you using? I've always used the Walmart Relion Micro and that has happened to me too where I'll get a # that just doesn't look right so I test again in 2 minutes and get a wildly different # but more in line with what I expected.

My vet said they started having trouble with the Relion Micro too with inconsistant readings so they have switched and had me switch to the One Touch Ultra Mini. I did a side by side comparison for a while which didn't prove much either way.

I am using the Bayer Contour. I have been using it since April.
Before then, I used the One Touch Ultra mini from his diagnosis late October until April.
They both seemed to get about the same numbers with a little variance, the One Touch seems to run about 10 points higher.
Venita sent the Contour and 300 strips to me from DCIN.
The One Touch strips have always been costly, but I ordered from Hocks which was about half the price of in the drugstores and Walmart, but they have gone up some there too.
I really like the Contour because it takes a much smaller drop of blood and doesn't have to be coded with each new container of test strips.
I still have the One Touch mini and a box of 50 strips for it, so I can try with it to and compare them again.
The One Touch was consistent with the vet's meter when we first got started.

PMPS was 228 2U @ +13.5

I'd be interested in your results if you do a comparison. The OT Ultra Mini takes more blood than I'm used to having to get so I waste alot of strips these day.

Very nice PMPS, I think you're on to somethins.

Interesting about the readings, I don't know what to make of it. I dream of a blue AMPS!!!!!!!!!!!   Still not bad though, and the blue nadir is nice, though I'd like it a little lower - still less than even a 50% drop. I think you just went to this dose though (?) and I guess seeing Shakes results now I'm starting to think maybe holding for a few days isn't such a bad thing. Although even on the Ls I think they only hold 3 days (?) and that's a longer acting insulin, so it seems like there would be 0 reason to hold longer than that on a shorter acting insulin. Maybe ProZinc just wins the wonky prize?

This dose looks good to me for a few more cycles. If we disregard the fur shot cycle, he hasn't been on it long and things are looking good.
