Re: 6/8 Max AMPS 197+1=282+2=248+3=247
it's not that uncommon to have a wonky test strip, elise. if you have too much blood or too little blood it can effect the results. If your meter battery is dying you can have weird results that just seem out of context.
as the day goes on, one thing that will help you know if it may have really been a LO or just a wonky test is if Max bounces. If he really got to LO, that's less than 20 on most meters. With Max, I can't think he wouldn't super bounce from it. As the day goes on, i now have the benefit of more tests to look at and i'm not seeing a big bounce starting. it looks like his normal day-after-greens cycle, in fact lower than day before yesterday was.
At the time, I think you did the right thing giving him HC. Next time i'd retest first to double check. If I'd been dyana looking at the test result this morning, i'd have thought you probably should reduce tonight too. Now that you have subsequent tests, i don't think he really got to LO. I would probably go back to a full 2.75 tonight, unless you see a significant rise making you think he really is bouncing.
I don't know how quickly Max responds to carbs - have you observed that? When you give him carbs to bring him up, do you see it in 15 minutes or does it take longer? i noticed punkin didn't really show the full effect of giving him carbs for 30 minutes. i'm not sure how long you waited this morning between giving the carbs and retesting, but if you can think back on it, that might help you determine if he rose from carbs from L0 (i'd assume 20) to 145 in however long you waited, or if that might say that he was higher than LO when you gave him the extra HC.
I only got a LO once, i think, and it was when my meter battery was dying. I didn't realize they wouldn't just go off - i just got weird test results. I took the meter to the jewelry dept of our local Fred Meyer (Kroger's) and they replaced the battery for me, then it was fine.
There is also the possibility of a delayed reaction, but i'd think you'd see something unusual before shot time tonight.
does any of that make sense?
