Gabby seems better compared to last night. She wanted no part of food and I was finger feeding her baby food. The first clue that she is feeling better is that she did not refuse a treat after testing. She has an appetite and the first half of breakfast is polished off and, even better, is staying down (anti jinx). We still have liquipoo, though. She was very snuggly all night.

Re: 6/8 Gabby AMPS~250

Hope Gabby will be feeling better today. That's good she's eating better today. Maggie eats her fair share of bf as a treat.

Re: 6/8 Gabby AMPS~250

oh I'm sorry gabby did not feel well last night ... but at least she is feeling better this morning ... I hope she continues to feel better!

Re: 6/8 Gabby AMPS~250

Good for Gabby! Hope she feels better soon. It must be Stu's chicken soup. the chef has conquered again. Hope she continues to improve today.

Re: 6/8 Gabby AMPS~250, +2~272

Glad to hear that Gabby seems to be feeling better this morning and has some of her appetite back. I hope she continues to improve and liqui-poo turns to norma-poo. :-D

Re: 6/8 Gabby AMPS~250, +2~272

I'm glad Gabby is feeling better and hope she continues to improve.

Re: 6/8 Gabby AM +5.5~336 vet report

Back from the vet and I suspect that the +5.5 reflects vet stress. She took blood for a GI panel including either spec fPL or fPLI. Results will trickle back in today and tomorrow. I have ABs metronidazole for liquipoo, FortiFlora and ear goo (Animax) since Gabby has an inflammation in one ear (and yes, it has some steroid in it). Gabby also needs a dental so that needs to get scheduled once the liquipoo is gone. I wasn't thrilled about the dental since it's been only 8 mos since her last one. Otherwise, she thinks Gabby is doing well and we agreed, a fructosamine is completely irrelevant given the home testing -- although she did say I don't need to test as much as I do. Right!

I'll know more once the BW is back.

Re: 6/8 Gabby AMPS~250, +2~272, +5.5~336 vet report

Gabby wants better treats!

I hope the results come back ok, and maybe it's just a tooth or something?
What do you think?

Re: 6/8 Gabby AMPS~250, +2~272, +5.5~336 vet report

So glad these are all things that can be fixed--Get better quick Gabby--Hoping for a good poo!

Re: 6/8 Gabby AMPS~250, +2~272, +5.5~336 vet report

Hi Cheryl and Gabby! Awww, poor Gabby wasn't feeling well last night I see. So sorry Ms. Gabby. I'm glad that Stu was around to fix you up his chicken soup to help things get better.

Sending some good BW vines to Gabby. May the meds work wonders for her and may she be back to her old Gabby self soon!

Re: 6/8 Gabby AMPS~250, +2~272, +5.5~336 vet report

Hi Sienne & Gabby, We're glad to hear that Gabby is basically fine. Too bad she has to have another dental. Oh, did the vet think that you test too much?? You ought to show her Pat's ss!!
Have a good evening and Give that Gabby some nice treats.

Re: 6/8 Gabby AMPS~250, +2~272, +5.5~336 vet report

Sienne, sorry to see that Gabby was not feeling well.
I hope everything passes without anything serious and she is back to her wonderful self.

Re: 6/8 Gabby AMPS~250, +2~272, +5.5~336 vet report

ugh - liquipoo
ugh - test too much
ugh - animax
ugh, ugh, ugh

come on abba gabby time to feel better!

sorry about your teefus being dirty again. that's never fun.

are you able to brush her teeth? and if not, check out this product - it's a blue liquid called maxi-guard - you can use like toothpaste and also if you can't brush - can squirt between gums and teeth and let it absorb - won't hurt anything and may actually help.

Re: 6/8 Gabby AMPS~250, +2~272, +5.5~336 vet report

glad that all is basically ok. can so relate with the dental thing - I had Mannie back in for one after 6 months. and oh yeah - we test too much. my vet said the same thing - once every now and then would be enough... oh sure!

well cuddle with your girl - vet visits are never fun. cat_pet_icon

Re: 6/8 Gabby AMPS~250, +2~272, +5.5~336 vet report

I hope all will be okay with Gabby, and the tests come out fine, too. Sorry to hear about the dental. I know what you mean. Maggie had several teeth pulled a year ago to the same month she just had this latest tooth extracted. It was called feline oral resorbtive lesions. Take care Gabby and Sienne.

Re: 6/8 Gabby AMPS~250, +2~272, +5.5~336 vet report

I sure hope Gabby feels better soon!
Go away liquipoo..... go away!
and must say re: dental... how many times a year does a cat need a dental? Although I'm no reference 1 in 14 years  , I am curious of what frequency is ... normal.

Re: 6/8 Gabby AMPS~250, +2~272, +5.5~336 vet report

I guessI have not been keeping up with Gabby....sorry she was not feeling well but glad to hear that she is feeling better today.
Do you bring your ss to the vets? If you do then you need one for the vet's with much less testing numbers on it of course.....and you only share the real one with us.

Helene, a cat should have a dental every year....I in 14.....I guess in a dog years that would be a little closer. ;-)

Re: 6/8 Gabby AMPS~250, +2~272, +5.5~336 vet report

I hope gabby starts to feel better soon! Don't feel bad about the dental, mochas check up at the local vet last month, just a few months after her dental including 8 extractions!, we were told there was plaque and tartar build up already!

Re: 6/8 Gabby AMPS~250, +2~272, +5.5~336, PMPS~300

Sorry Gabby did not feel well, I know what a stress that can be on both us and our kitties.
Keeping my fingers crossed for you that all comes back well on her blood work!

Re: 6/8 Gabby AMPS~250, +2~272, +5.5~336, PMPS~300

The interesting thing about the, "You don't have to test so much." comment was that she didn't have a print out of the most recent SS. She saw a copy that I brought in Sept. The vet would probably have a stroke if she saw what the current version looks like!! She now has the link. I somehow doubt that she'll be sending me e-mails saying, "Don't test." And of course, should my vet opt to do so, there's always the delete key. She's really a great vet. She spent an hour in the exam room with Gabby.

She did make an interesting point. She thought that maybe Gabby was one of those kitties who did have better luck with regard to her teeth by eating dry food. She did not say we should go back to dry but did note it's more abrasive. She did agree that for a diabetic, dry is not the best. (So why did they recommend it/sell it to me before I knew better? Geez!)

Gabby was very interested in food tonight. (Unfortunately, the vet also suggested she needs to lose 2 lbs.) In fact, so interested, she had her face in Gizmo's bowl when he walked away.

Big party at Maui's tonight...an impromptu pool party...Woo-woo...
Hope you feel well enough to stop by Gabby!

hmm. *reaches for some cookies* maybe that'll keep my teeth clean ... worth a shot

Gabby eats raw food, right? Have you tried offering some raw gizzards? It's not perfect, but there's some chewing involved, which could offer a little brushing action.

hope gabby feels better soon!
i saw choy-foong's suggestion to try gizzards and gabby's resistance to them. mine had the same reaction til i cut them up into tiny pieces. i gradually made the pieces bigger. now they gobble them right up! it's a PITA to chop them up, but do-able. after all, you don't have anything better to do with your time, right?
