And if you can't figure out the cold shipping or find someone in your area, try animal shelters. They might have cats that they take in who need insulin? DCIN might be able to help you find someone in your area who needs the insulin too.

Ah! DCIN is a great idea. Or the Facebook group - might be able to find someone nearby that way.

I'll probably hold onto it for a little while and then see about finding someone local (or as close as possible since local is relative in rural MN); I'd donate it but I put it on my Carecredit and I'm still paying that off (and the interest). We only have one local shelter (no kill) and they haven't had any diabetics in years according to the staff when I brought in low carb and Dx foods.

AMBG at 71 today; 13th AM in a row. She was getting all excited watching a huge grey squirrel on the deck just now; silly kitty thinks I'm going to let her outside before I go to work. Not gonna happen.

14th PM is done @54 tonight.

Funny thing; I was trying to buy lancets the size we like at Wal-Mart and for the last three weeks they have been out, so I ordered a four pack from Amazon thinking I'd be testing for a long time even if we are not having shots. Today the lancets come and it is from Wal-Mart with a different online store name, and they sent the wrong size. Grr.

14 days!!!!! I'm guessing you're waiting until tomorrow's AMPS to celebrate? I'm going to start celebrating for you early (besides, I could really use a glass of wine tonight!) :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Yep, I want an official 14 AMs and PMs, but Jaxa seems pretty confident about it. Her birthday is just less than two weeks away too, so I get to look for presents this weekend. Her new Japanese toothbrush came today though- so cute!

Oh my gosh that's adorable! Will Jaxa let you brush her teeth? I've tried with Sam, but it's been a struggle to say the least, and I haven't been consistent enough in my efforts to train him into it.

I'm not sure yet, but we are going to try. She is usually pretty chill about me touching her and grooming her (unless it involves pills) and she lets me look at her teeth without too much fight. I ordered a package that has a few long toothbrushes and several of the fingertip brushes too so the dog could share (chihuahua).

Okay, now you get your official congratulations! Hooray for Jaxa! (and for you!!!)

So exciting that she made it through all of this and is officially :otj::woot::otj::woot::otj:

You've done a great job learning and doing all that she needed to get to this point. Well done!

It will be hard to stop testing daily; had to get another in tonight (85), and I think I'll probably do a day every three days or so to start. I'm paranoid that I'll look and she'll be over 200.

You can test as much as you need to for a while. It does take a little while to trust that things really are better. I'm so so so happy for you and Jaxa!

I need to get some ketone strips and test my boy. Do you have any tips on how you successfully did your tests?
When Jaxa was sick from pancreatitis it was right after we had gotten a new puppy (who likes to eat litter both clean and dirty), so the main litterbox was moved into my bedroom. It was set up as her safe spot when she was adopted; food, water, toys and hiding spots and now litter all kept away from whatever dog we might have. So when I started testing ketones her box was about three feet from my computer and any time she had to pee I just had to grab a strip and let her pee on it. She is used to me grooming her when she is messy, and touching her all over, so it never seems to bother her if I touch her while she is in the litterbox. So mostly I was just lucky.

No test this AM so the food was left down and she still got the b12, but she seems confused by this and is laying on my desk like she is waiting for something.

This cracks me up. And totally makes sense. Cats do love their routines and when we mess them up, it can take some adjusting. Congrats on your first "no test" morning! :D

Just an update; Jaxa is on her third scheduled test day and she is doing well. She is super excited about all the baby birds being brought into the backyard for "training" by their parents this last week. Got her to eat a little FF classic pate too recently, but I swear no matter how little I give her she only eats half, and then later only half of that. Fussy cat. Her birthday is next Tuesday though so I suppose I have to forgive her.

*Just did her PMBG and that freaked me out a little at 107, so I mentioned it to my mother and was told- "Oh, I just gave her some treats about 30 minutes ago and her food wasn't up until an hour and a half ago. Oops." So it wasn't a fasting test.

Just stopping in to update; this last week she has had some soft bm issues and she vomited grass twice so I thought it wouldn't hurt anything but my budget to take her in for a check-up. We hadn't seen the vet since the beginning of May. So we got a blood test and a dewormer, and was told that she still needs to keep on track with her diet. Her blood levels are all good; even bg at Vet was @136, which is about 300 less than the last time they tested her bg. I added her tests to our spreadsheet too, though some like the Lipase don't seem to translate because the only thing that sounds right for label has values for a normal range that are completely wonky for what my vet lists as a normal range for LIPA. Well, got what I could input though.

Does your vet use IDEXX? I can't remember what the lab tab ranges are based on, but it's not IDEXX, so that might be why there is a discrepancy.

So glad to hear that Jaxa's BG is still in good ranges! Did the vet find anything else? Or was Jaxa just having one of those days?

I think it is more about her food; she is supposed to have about 5 TBSP daily for the YAZM, but she eats more than that. I think I need to start putting the food up more often and not just free feed as they have suggested on the food bags. She has been outside a lot lately, sharing water with wild animals so I am glad we got the dewormer- I worry that she could get something from the birds since they poop in their water. And she is probably stressed from almost daily visits from strangers coming to give estimates on house and landscaping projects (had two outside doors replaced in the last week too). When I buy my new house she will deserve to have her enclosed patio.

I am glad to have gotten confirmation on her numbers, and to know that her other pancreas and liver values were all good, or at least normal. Not a single value was too high or too low for the first time since her tests last December. Not sure about what system the vet uses, but both of the offices that tested her here listed the same ranges for their norms.
