Fed regular food; Waiting :20 to retest. I always test before walking at +6, just in case. So, no walking this morning...

We've been using the two meters to compare numbers, but have been continuing to shoot by the iPet. Need to figure out how to compare the two, so can use just the Relion. But, if that was the only we were using and looking at it as a (44), we'd be pretty concerned right now. So, do you use the same hypo number no matter the meter???

Yes, I'd go with the lowest number. The nice thing is it's +6 so we could hope he would start up.

Darn, wish this wasn't happening again. His pattern seems to be that he takes a while to settle into a dose. Just wish when he settles in, it wouldn't be so abrupt.

I'll be around this morning for a couple hours and will keep an eye out for you.
 
Given you are testing with two meters--the ipet and the relion, you have to give attention to the lower number, I think. But, it is good to know that you have a second test on a different meter, that is higher and not lower!

I have always read, that human meters (the relion) read lower than animal meters (the ipet) in lower numbers. The thoughts behind this are, if a human is getting into low blood sugar numbers the meter is set to read lower to prompt the human to eat or take action to move the bg up-- almost like panicking the person. The same supposedly is not true for the pet meters-- they normally read truer in lower numbers.

BUT, since the relion was lower even in the amps reading that you have, I am not sure we can apply that logic this morning. If the two amps readings were closer, and you just had this difference at the lower numbers, then I could buy into it with this morning's low numbers better.

Just for safety and precaution-- you need to assume the relion is reading true this morning and be vigilant with your testing. I am glad you fed. Post you retest reading!
 
I would only test with the relion-- you know the ipet is okay and higher, unless you are just collecting data.

Yes feed a little and retest in 20 mins.

What are you feeding...low carb?

You are doing fine, the numbers are not scary! Just stay on top of it.
 
Yes, we're feeding his regular Wellness (Turkey today 4% carbs). Not terribly fearful at this point. Went ahead and posted, just in case his numbers didn't rise and to get confirmation of whether or not to go with lower number, even though have the higher reading.

Glad we knew about a sliding scale and shot .6 (or maybe closer to .5) this morning instead of the usual .8u! Maybe this is his way of telling us he doesn't want his shot time moved up?! ;-)

I've heard the same thing as Kim, that the human meters intentionally read lower at lower numbers so people will take action. Since the IPet read higher I think you had some room there.

It also gives some credibility to the theory that it takes 3 to 5 days for the rebound hormones to clear. This is day 4 after his hypo numbers on the 6th and his PS's have been steadily coming down to what are probably truer numbers.

Unfortunately you are probably going to see another bounce from this. :sad: I would stick with a .6u dose through the bounce.

Going forward I would always go with the lower dose for Hershey and err on the side of caution.

interesting about the meters...
tough call on which one to use
I chose the alpha track cause that is what my vet uses..
but really Hershey had a pretty good day!
