Morning and all P's in place this morning. Maggie's sore ear is looking a little better, and she didn't flinch as much this morning. I'm using #26 Thin Relion lancets and wondering if these are too sharp. I gave Maggie maybe 1/4 of the FF Turkey & Giblets last night to keep her surfing and it seems like it was just the right amount. It acts as a mc for her, as Maggie is carb sensitive. Maggie is feeling good, and she asked for a brushing. She's had two small breffifs and is now napping besides my computer. I should be able to start brushing her teeth soon, which reminds me I need to buy a toothie brush if I don't already have one somewhere. I am taking care of my 88 years young neighbor's cat for a few days or more...it's a long story but I had to call 911 for her. When her friend couldn't reach her, I had a key and went in and found her looking really awful! We had each other's keys just in case we locked ourselves out which I did on Sunday! The poor kitty hadn't been fed in over a day and a half, and litter box was filling up. So kitty is fed and clean box, and she seemed okay last night. I'll make sure and check on kitty often and get her to play. She's a beautiful Russian Blue mix and quite feisty! Hope everyone has a nice Tuesday.

Re: 6/7 Maggie AMPS 128

Hi there!

I'm home sick, so decided to check in on some condos... Maggie seems to be doing well... Are you using 26 gauge lancets on her? Those are pretty big - I used to use 30 gauge or 31 gauge on Kasha because they were much thinner.

Re: 6/7 Maggie AMPS 128

I'm so glad you got to your neighbour and the kitty in time. Hope she recovers quickly.

Glad Maggie's ear is healing and she's looking good.

Have a great day

Re: 6/7 Maggie AMPS 128

The 26G lancets are big ones - I'd go for 30 or 31 if you can.

I'm sorry about your neighbor. It is good for her that people were looking out for her and that you had her key. Wow. Wishing she will be okay. Glad you are able to watch over her kitty also.

Maggie has been looking great lately. Keep it up Maggie!!!

Re: 6/7 Maggie AMPS 128

Hi Ann...nice that you were able to help with the neighbor's kitty.....
The higher the number, the smaller the needle....I use the Reli-On 30gauge myself.
I agree with everyone that the ones you are using are rather large.....
Nice AMPS for Maggie today....hope you have a good one!

Re: 6/7 Maggie AMPS 128

Good morning Ann & Maggie!!! I'm glad Maggie's ear is looking better. I use the 30. I have used the 26 before and they seemed way to big for Tarragon, but he has little ears.

That is so great that you were able to get to your neighbor and help her and her cat out. What a good soul you are!

Hope you have a great day!

Re: 6/7 Maggie AMPS 128

Ann the higher the gauge the sharper the needle, so 30 or 31 may be better...Moonie had a bump on her ear yesterday, but it's gone now...Great amps for the Maggie!
How good of you to have rescued your neighbor & caring for her kitty..
I was told I am a rescuer, animals & people, guess we all are here--
Hope the 2 cats get along..Many Hugs & have a good day!
You did a really good deed!!

Re: 6/7 Maggie AMPS 128; +3 114

+3 114 - I think Maggie will stay in these nice low blues, hopefully!

Hi Krys, so good to hear from you; I think of you often and hope things are going well for you. I guess the 30 is too large according to what everyone is using. I had a difficult time drawing blood from the 30, but I think I will give it another try.
Hi Iorwen, yes Maggie's ear looked better. My neighbor's kitty looked confused this morning seeing me, but the second time she was up on the coffee table eating her Friskies snacks, so that was a good sign.
Hi Karrie, thanks and everyone seems to agree on the size needle. Her ear is looking better after some Neosporin and an ear break!
Hi Pat, yes Maggie told me she is trying to keep up with Raja with the numbers, but Raja is winning. Thanks, I need to remember the higher the # the smaller the needle. It seems like it would be the reverse.
Thanks Melissa & Tarragon, she's a nice neighbor and has a daughter nearby, thank goodness, but she still needs something like in home care to make sure she takes her meds. She forgets to take them.
Thanks Roni, her kitty is next door, so it's real easy to check on her. Kitsi is her name, and she seems afraid of other cats and very skiddish. Yep, I think I'd better buy some 30's lancets.

Re: 6/7 Maggie AMPS 128; +3 114

Maggie is looking terrific this morning!! And I'll echo everyone else, way to go on the rescue of your neighbor. I sure hope someone is looking out for me in case I fall and I can't get up.

Have a great day!!! :-D

Re: 6/7 Maggie AMPS 128; +3 114; +5 124; PMPS 120

I sure hope someone is looking out for me in case I fall and I can't get up.

Me, too, Patty and Champ in case I fall and can't get up! I really can't take credit for it, as it was her friend that called and was concerned and asked me to go inside, as I had a key thank goodness. I would dread going inside and seeing someone passed away!
Maggie is having a nice flat cycle today! I wonder does this mean she may go green tonight? I like her at these numbers as she seems to feel the best and energized. In the 80's she's a little lethargic/loopy.

Re: 6/7 Maggie AMPS 128; +3 114; +5 124; PMPS 120

Ann, I'm so glad that you were around to go check on your neighbor and her kitty. I sure hope they will both be all right. I use the 30 gauge also , and they seem to work just fine. It's all about what works for you and Maggie.
Her numbers look really really nice and steady today. I pray that continues for you guys and I hope you have a wonderful evening :-D

hi Ann
nice condo :)
Maggie looks great!
have a good evening!

+3 98
Hi, Maggie was self regulating herself by eating. I noticed she looked a little lethargic (just sleeping probably), so I tested and she was 98!

Hi Tena and Curry, she has been flat for a while, so I was concerned she might surprise me tonight. I've even been giving her FF Turkey & Giblets, which usually raises her bg.
Thanks so much Squirrel. I hope, too, Maggie's numbers remain steady. I haven't heard too much more about my neighbor other than that they are giving her every test under the sun, and it may be pneumonia. It didn't seem to me it was pneumonia, but you never know. I need to make a house call on her kitty next door.
Hi Ronnie & Luna, so nice to see you. How is our little Luna doing? Yes, Maggie's numbers have improved since she had the resorbtive lesion toothie removed, Now it's almost time for me to start a brushing away whatever toothies she has left in her mouth!

Hoy cow look at Maggie's gorgeous numbers today!!!!!

How very kind of you to check on your neighbor and take care of her beloved kitty while she is gone. I hope your neighbor will be ok. I'm sure the kitty is lonely.

We, too, use finer gauge lancets. I use 30, sometimes 33 but we get a better, faster poke with the 30s. Sometimes the fine ones don't get blood the first time and I have to poke more which is not good.

Have a great night!!!

Maggie is really looking good all day today. I guess she feels better since her ear is feeling better. I

It is wonderful you rescued your neighbor. I had a similar thing happen last week. My neighbor fell outside when she was walking her dog and I heard her crying out for help. Called 911 and now she is in rehab recovering from a broken hip and wrist. Hope your neighbor is better soon. If she is going to continue living by herself, she definitely needs to get an emergency response button to wear at all times when she is home.
