Lola, lethal weapons, those 4 paws!

I hope everyone has had a great week. We have been.... well, busy again!:joyful::cool: I just can't imagine not being on the go. ;) It keeps us out of trouble, and makes for great times! I often think back on the weeks happenings, and wonder how in the world did we do all that! It was the same this past week. Even with the added care for Elsa, we have mange to maintain a week of adventure, and fun. It has been a good week. :):):) Sorry I couldn't get this posted yesterday, just no time....

And first up today.... Elsa News. She is doing fairly well. :joyful: We are one fluids every otehr day, and will continue in that mode unless it appears that she needs them daily. We re-ran her BW on Thursday, and her BUN was down to 73 from 92, Creatnine was still at 4.3, ratio at 17, down from 21. So.... some improvement after a week of just fluids. The vet has asked that I add an AB to deal with her mouth, as that really is such a mess. She was able to remove clumps of surface tartar, but alot remains that we cannot take care of without a dental. She is not a dental candidate, due to her CDF/CKD. We hope that the AB's will deal with any underlying infections, hopefully clear thins up some. so, bring on the Clavamox. So far she is tolerating tat well. I have also asked for some anti-nausea meds as she appears, at times, to have some minor nausea issues. Pepcid has also been added to the mix. She has also put back on some of the weight she lost, YAY!!!!! She remains active, doing Elsa things. For the past three mornings she has made sure I get up in the morning. The kitty choir, with Bug and Lola as back up singers, has returned! last night, for the first time in over two months she slept with me, on the pillow. It was so nice to see that portion of her routine return. She continues to eat well, though at times I do have to encourage her, hold the bowl for her, etc. Amy - that so made me think of you with Trixie! :):) Keep on truckin' Elsa, we all hope for many ore days with you. :)

Elsa, 2014

It has been a week in the pool! It has just become the norm for us, we go each week, and just never tire of it. It proves to be such fun for both boys, and their excitement with it all has not wavered. Nicholas's swim classes continue, Mondays and Wednesday this week. Nicholas continues to do well, working on learning side breathing, elementary back float and stroke ,and the beginnings of breaststroke. He just loves class, and can't wait for his lessons to begin. He literally runs to class when it is time. :):joyful: Outside of class he still is our little energizer fishie, loves swimming in the big pool, and will often forgo the beach area play for the 6 and unders. He'd rather be in deep water. William continues to do well, and has gotten very comfortable in the water, on top and down under. He likes to float, and will do so, on his tummy in the shallow beach area. he's also started to do some jump ins. Cool! This week he was once again scooting along the bottom, floating on his tummy, using arms and legs to move about. He's learning that jumping in can be fun too. How fun! Lessons ought to go well for him too, when he is eligible. We are grateful for our time in the pool. It has all enabled to boys to explore anther aspect of growing up, one they really enjoy. Our swim days this week were Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday Night.
GO NICHOLAS! GO WILLIAM !!

Nicholas: Underwater, his second home....

P1350254.JPG

William: Slide and a ball, best ever!

And.... yes! We are still doing the Friday Night Burger Feast after Nicholas's swim time. Nicholas loves it, and continues to look forward to it each week. We have this running bet on how many extra pickles (I always ask for extra as he LOVES pickles) we will actually get. It varies, anywhere from 2 to 10. This week, tally was 8. So.... in the interest of actually having extra pickles I started to bring even more a couple of weeks ago. I swear Nicholas did his version of the Mannie Fuds Dance once he saw them. ;) I love Friday Nights! What a fun time.

The week was busy.... three days of adventure after adventure. Weather was great this week, with sunny skies and temps in the 75/80 range, so we were able to spend alot of time outdoors, from the play park at Meadowdale Park, the beaches of Picnic Point and The Lake at Rattlesnake Park. Picnic Point and Rattlesnake Lake were places we sued to visit last year, and for whatever reason had not been back to in some time. It was great to go again, the boys loved them both, so we will have to see if we can work them both back into our g to spots. Both are close to home, more or less, which is an added plus. Just as an FYI: no rattlesnakes at that lake, I have no clue how it got its name.:confused::) On Thursday and Friday Nicholas went beach swimming out in the waters of Juanita Beach, and the lake at rattlesnake Park. What fun for him! The lake is known for its fish population. We saw many small fishes, hundreds (!!), swimming at waters edge. Nicholas could see them while he was swimming. At one point there was one of the bigger ones that jumped out of the water, right next to him. What an awesome experience for him. :joyful: William was content to remain in the beach water break with his buckets and shovels. He did venture out a few times up to his knees. He had such fun with that. Good times for both boys. Wednesday, after Nicholas's swim, we were also able to spend some time with the boys Grammie Connie. I am so grateful to her for helping me with William when Nicholas needs to be in the pool. She is a god-send. Boys love it there too. It truly was a great week!

Nicholas and William: swimming with the fishies!

For my own personal time, I continue to hike the local trails here when I can, Saturday last week, and Tuesday. They have been good local hikes, a nice time out in the woods. Sunday I traveled over Snoqualmie Pass, to hike Cooper River. WOW, and what a treat! Cooper River hike is a keeper. I really enjoyed that one. Not hard at all, but you gotta love it when trail book says a gain of 400 feet. It was more like 1100 feet, with all the ups and down, they just took ending minus beginning to get that 400, not what one actually climbs.:p:confused::woot: seshhhh... River was beautiful. I found 4 (I think) river access points, two of which let you get to the banks. Ate my lunch at one of them. Brought a cheeseburger today. lol, but YUM! The water was so clear, really fast too, some of which goes through a gorge. I found one awesome spot down from the trailhead, loved that one too, until I read that is was private property, seems two homes were perched on top of the cliff. What a bummer! oh well. I didn't out stay my welcome. Ran into one obstacle about 1.5 miles into what was a 7 mile hike. A big 3 to 4 feet round tree had fallen right across the trail. It was on a slope too, so that 3/4 foot tree was more like 5 feet to climb over. After driving all that way, already getting into that hike there was no way I was turning back. So.... tossed the backpack and the poles over and climbed over, someone had notched out a section near trails edge . so I really only had to haul myself up to that notched section, 4' maybe. My shoulder didn't like it but we made it just fine. Woot! Fun times. not. On the plus side: no more horse droppings to dodge after that. :joyful:. and so went today: a gorgeous fun filled day on really nice river. The drive over too was just great! It was such a treat to drive through some very small rural towns, I really enjoyed this drive to Cooper River. :woot::woot::woot::woot::woot::woot::joyful:

Cooper River

Normalcy in Three MusketeerVille! :cat::cat::cat: Kitties are doing well, and there really isn't much change from last week. Bug is still being cuddly, Elsa is still holding her own even with a few new issues, and Lola is still escaping. It is interesting that Bug has no desire to be outdoors. Lola however.... Elsa seems to be doing OK this morning. She's made two trips outdoors, made three passes at the fuds bowl with a few nibbles, meowed at me a few times, and is now lounging on one of Mannie's old kitty beds. Lola is currently running from window to window, plotting, I am sure, her next escape route. Bug seems to be edging her on.:smuggrin:
and for fun, a classic Mannie video. This will alwyas be my favorite. :)
Mannie and Nicholas: Lunch has been served!

Have a great Sunday everyone. It will be a busy day here today, birthdays to celebrate!:cool::cool: Yesterday was William's 2nd Birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY WILLIAM! Tomorrow is my DD's, Erin, birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ERIN!! So today we celebrate. We will have a party for William at 11, so all sides of the family can celebrate, and wish him a happy 2nd, Alot of people!. but it should be fun. Pizza, cupcakes and presents, and outdoor play. Tonight we will have a BBQ for Erin, just close family. We have great weather today, sunny skies and temps at 80. Perfect day for outdoor parties! Wow, busy busy busy... I hope I have time to come up for air! :woot: I may have to see if I can get out for a short walk before I need to set things up for William's party.

KITTIES!! Remember: BLUE, think GREEN

Happy Birthday Erin and William! Sounds like good times with the family again. :) Kids birthday parties are always a blast. And what can be better than having a party with this fantastic weather.

The Cooper River hike trips pics are awesome as usual. All the flowers, and fungi and the action shots of the river. This week I saw and had my first salmonberries (and huckleberries!) of the season.:cool::cool: Of course I thought of you and the boys.

Scritches to Elsa and the rest of the fur gang. Looks like you and I are starting to take some of the same turns in the road with our older girls. :bighug: Good news that some of Elsa's numbers are coming down and that she's gaining weight. :woot:

Thanks for reposting the Mannie classic. That one and the one of Nicholas placing the nanners on his back are my fav's.

Happy Birthday, William and Erin!

Good to hear the news Elsa. The squids have really helped Tess too. Ask you vet about Proden PlaqueOff. Serryn is trying it for Vyktor and I am going to ask my vet about it too. The only concern is that since it is rich in iodine it wouldn't be good for a cat w/ hyperthyroidism.

Happy birthday at your place! and yikes on that tree over the trail you had to leap over!

glad to hear Elsa is doing ok on just the subq's - sending my best healing thoughts her way! good to hear the kitty choir has re-emerged too.

:bighug:

@Wendy&Neko Morning Wendy! :coffee::coffee::coffee: Many thanks on the birthday greeting. I shall pass them along. :) his should be great today. Outdoors for bubbles and all sorts of fun. Can you believe this weather?? YaHOO!
THX on the Cooper River photos. I really enjoyed this one, not too much climbing (1100 feet) and the river was really pretty! We have a break between parties today so I hope to be able to walk Nicholas down to the local trailhead where there is crop of Salmonberries ready for picking. He just love those! no huckleberries for us yet. Soon though. THX on Elsa. It is hard when they start to age, Noe wishes they could turn back that clock. Elsa will be 19 on 8/1. Me too on that video, just love than one!!

@Ann and Tess - Hi Ann :coffee::coffee::coffee: THX! I love that photo, use that one alot. I shall pass on the greeting to Erin and William. I have used Plaque Off for Mannie. I think it helped, but didn't eliminate the need for dentals for him. I will have to find my bottle and see if it is still good. Anything is worth a try for Elsa, as any thought of dental is a no no. oh true on the Hyper T thing. At least we don't have that to worry about.

@julie & punkin (ga) Hi Julie :coffee::coffee::coffee: THX on the birthday greetings. I will make sure they get them. :) THX on Elsa too, at least she is stabilized, and we hope for some improvement. :) Oh yes on that kitty choir!! I knew some would remember the days of Mannie, BJ, and Elsa.

Happy Birthday to William and Erin.
party.gif

I'm glad Elsa is doing pretty good and Bug and Lola are doing good too. I love the video of Mannie and Nicholas.
How cool on the boys getting to be out in the water with the fish. I bet they loved that.

As always Michelle, I'll take a gallon of the Venti Quad!! LOL!:smuggrin: Happy birthday to William and Erin-how fast the year has passed by!

I don't know how, but I missed your last Elsa condo, I am so sorry to hear this but it sounds like you have everything in place for her already- I know Elsa is in good hands! In regard to the dental issue, I found a Dental Specialist team near shoreline, http://vetdentalspecialist.com/homepage.pml. Wondering if you have heard anything about them, it's a husband and wife team. My own vet clinic do not want to do a dental for Tiger, they are scared she won't survive the anesthesia. I'm terrirified to pursue it too, but I just know it has to be affecting how she feels and probably her kidney values. Just wondered if you knew anything about this clinic?

Beautiful pictures as always, I have not done Cooper River, sounds like fun but I hear you on the 3 foot blowdown log being more like a 6 foot obstacle you had to climb over, but hey, if it stops the horses and mountain bikers, it's all good!:rolleyes: Thank you for sharing that wonderful video of Mannie and Nicholas- I absolutely love where Mannie's big paw reaches over and grabs the treats LOL! :joyful::joyful: As well as Nicholas placing crumbs on Mannie's back! Priceless!! :bighug::bighug:

Have a fun tonight!!

Hi Michelle,
Happy Birthday to William and Erin! William is such a big boy now! I love reading about how well he is doing in the pool. Nicholas is a good example.
Elsa, we are very pleased that you are doing well and that the fluids are helping. Keep on doin' what you're doin'. Do you think a toothbrush would work to get off some of the plaque?

Cooper River looks wonderful! I'm so glad that you had a good hike there, despite the blowdown in the trail. The trail is really nice, I can see. Good weather helps!

That Mannie & Nicholas video was great to see again!

So, you will be off on the next week of adventure. Have a great week!

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Elsa: the Ethopian espresso was especially good this morning. Thank you, Kitteh Barista!

Happy Birthday William and Erin!
That is a beautiful pic of Elsa! Now I am partial to Torties since adopting my little wild Katie, lol. I wanted to catch up on Elsa news, as well as William and Nicholas, too. Elsa is one amazing kitty with her age and all; so glad to hear the fluids are going well and overall things good with Elsa.
What fun you all had this week.
Vines and prayers for Elsa:bighug: to keep on doing well with her treatments.

Good Morning LL!! :coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee: (Elsa - lots (!!) please! This bean is so sleepy...), and Happy Cheery Cherry Monday

LL! It's is I, Elsa, kitteh barista!, president and CEO of Coffee Cat! Life is GOOD! GUESS WHAT! Today is CHEERY CHERRY MONDAY!! Lola and Bug, aka Paw Prints Pizza, are making their cheery cherry pizza pies. It is after all Monday, and that is now tradition! Anybody up for a cherry pizza? so. well. anyways. Coffee time! For today, I proudly offer Elsa's special 10 hour energy coffee, and Double shot espressos, with beans from deep within the mountain slopes of Africa, AND.... for all my Mocha fans: a VENTI Quad cherry infused white mocha/mocha blend with white chocolate chips melted within, topped with a cherry whip garnished with candied cherry sprinkles and white chocolate curls. SWEET! OH! No worries, a dollop of cheery cherry and chocolate swirl ice cream, on top of a dollop of fudge, topped with crystallized cheery cherries and chocolate drizzle.... Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh....... mega good! We gots CHEERY CHERRY CHEESECAKE too! as well as cheery cherry frappes! I love cheery cherry Mondays.

Happy Cheery Cherry Monday!

Good Morning everyone! Happy Monday to L&LL. I am sorry I missed all of you over the weekend. It has been just mega busy here, what with Erin's Birthday, and William's Birthday celebrations on Sunday. Saturday I spent most of the day shopping, cleaning and setting things up for the kids at William's party, and the BBQ for Erin later on in the day. I had so hoped to have condo time, but it just didn't happen. We had a great day on Sunday. Gilliam''s party was a huge success. With great weather we were able to spend most of the time outdoors, with the kids having a blast with a bubble machine, and just playing outdoors. William Loved his birthday cake, a huge cupcake. One happy boy! We had a short break in between parties, where Nicholas was able to help his Grandpa get the small back yard pond we have up and running. He, and William, love that little pond. Nicholas was elated that he got to fill it, turn on the water fall, and just enjoy it. Bring on backyard ponds! Awesome! We also went on asalmonberry hunt at the local trails here by the house. They are in full fruit now, so off we went. I always cracks me up how much he loves berry hunting, ad we actually managed to come back with a small bowl full of salmonberries. Now we await the arrival of the thimbleberries and huckleberries on this trail. YUM!!! The BBQ for Erin was a blast. I love BBQ's, even with it just being burgers dogs and sausages. My youngest son manned the BBQ, he really does a mean cheeseburger. :joyful: and the cake. A double chocolate fudge!:joyful: All in all a very fun filled and long and awesome day. Back to back parties. I must have been crazy. :woot:
P1350823.JPG

William: And one very cool birthday cupcake!

Elsa update: Elsa continues to hold her own. Yesterday was so warm here, she was hot, and with the AB's finally on board I think she felt a little off. Appy wasn't the best, but she did eat. With the warm and the chaos of the day, things were a little trying for her. This morning it is much better. She ate well, seems chipper enough. I will be getting some anti-nausea stuff for her this afternoon to see if we can curb some of the effects of AB's, as she does seem a little, not alot, but a little nauseous. I will also add some greek yogurt throughout the day to see if that will help also. All in all, she's doing OK. Keep on truckin' Elsa! :)

Have a great Monday everyone! I am off to swim with William, and Nicholas, and the other two GP's. Seattle with a friend for coffee this afternoon. YaHOO! A fun day in the making. :)

@carfurby Morning Carla! :coffee::coffee::coffee: THX, and I will pass on the birthday greetings. We had a great time! THX too on the kitties, all is well there. Elsa seems to be holding he own, and for that we are grateful. A big yes on the boys and the fish, it was one of the highlights of the day - what a great lake!

@Tiger and Ruth Morning Ruth! :coffee::coffee::coffee:THX on Elsa, and I hope we have all in place for her. A few more items to get into the routine, but all is going along OK. I have not heard of that dental specialist, but it is nice to know that there is one, in case we need to do something along that line. I know too that Elsa more than likely would not survive the anesthesia aspect of a dental cleaning. I am sure too, that Elsa's teeth, and it sounds like Tiger's too, are affecting to a certain degree, how they are feeling. An what to do.... THX on the pics. I really likes Cooper River, a very nice hike, and not too difficult, short of that log!:rolleyes: But as you say, it did stop the horses!!! :) no offense to all our horse people. Love you guys too! THX on the video - it is one of my faves, for the reason you say. They had such an incredible bond.

@Ella & Rusty & Stu(GA) Morning Ella! :coffee::coffee::coffee:THX on the birthday greeting, I will pass them along. A big yes (!) on William in the pool. He really likes it. Nicholas has been good with him, showing him how, on the days they are there together, to do things. William just soaks up whatever Nicholas tells him. Big Bro Rules! :) THX too on Elsa. I do have a toothbrush for her, and will soon give that a shot to see if we can help with the condition of her teeth, if she will allow me to do that. A work in progress I think. ;) All in all, she is doing OK. Many THX on the Cooper River pics, I really enjoyed this one. and that Mannie video... always will be a classic Mannie clip. THX too on the upcoming week, I think it will be good one!

@Marshmellow & Steve Morning Steve! :coffee::coffee::coffee: Many THX! I will pass on the birthday wishes. We had a great day, all major good fun! Elsa says thank you for the vines. She is holding her own, seems responsive to treatment, so we are all glad for that! :) and, you are welcome!

@Ann & Maggie11 (GA) Morning Ann :coffee::coffee::coffee: THX on the pic. I too love torties, such an attitude they have, all good too. I am pleased with how well Elsa is ding. The fluids have been a big help, sure hope that continues. We are gradually adding other tings to to hopefully help her feel even better as she ages. Man y thanks for the vines! and yupp!: Been a great week!

OMG! Michelle those pix of your yard are gorgeous! I'm jealous! It's so green! It looks like the weekend was a great success. I've tried back to back parties too, yikes!

What beautiful pictures. You truly do live in a lovely area.

I, too, missed the condo that told of Elsa's issues. I'm glad to see you have a plan in place and she's responding. I know well how that all feels. Sending tons of healing vines - L&L Land needs it's kitteh barista to stay strong and keep everyone going! Does she like Forti Flora? I know I'm always told to give it to my kitties when they are on ABs. Two of mine love it and will eat better with it on their fuds, and the other two don't like it so I have to give it in gelcaps.

Happy belated birthday to Erin and William. You lead such a full, busy life. I don't know when you find the time to type your wonderful, newsy condos, but we all enjoy them so!

Looks like everyone had a blast at the birthday parties! Rusty thinks that the giant cupcake is a good idea and may try to bake one for a kitty party in the future. Or perhaps Tess already has a good recipe for one.

Ella & Rusty

Whew. What a week for you all. First of all, huge bouquets of healing vines for sweet Elsa. Many great days ahead with a little extra attention.

Happy Birthday to Williams and Erin!!! 2?!? How is that even possible? Sounds like a great time was had by all.

Good Morning LL :coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee: (LOTS! I just love :coffee:), and Happy TUNA Tuesday!

LL! It's is I, Elsa, kitteh barista, president and CEO of Coffee Cat! Life is GOOD! GUESS WHAT! Today is TUNA TUESDAY!!! In honor of Tuna Tuesday, once again Lola and Bug, aka Paw Prints Pizza, will make their famous triple tuna pies, with tuna and nip infused crust, tuna toppings, and now triple tuna infused cheese. YUMMMMMMMM! It's tradition!, and these pizza pies totally rock! and as a side benefit we have TUNA WATER too! so. well. anyways. Coffee time! For today, I proudly offer Elsa's special 10 hour energy coffee, and triple shot espresso, beans from the heart of central Ethiopia. and for my mocha fans: Venti Quad orange and vanilla mocha, laced with orange swirls, topped with chocolate whip, garnished with orange zest, slivered vanilla beans and chocolate swirls....SWEET! OH! No worries, a dollop of orange and vanilla and chocolate swirl ice cream, on top of a dollop of fudge, topped with crystallized oranges and chocolate drizzle.... Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh....... OH! forget it... no tuna mochas. BLECH!
tuna tuesday.jpg

Happy Tuesday Everyone. I hope the week is treating you well. I am off in a few to have breffis with my son, and then hike some up by Snoqualmie Pass: Source Lake and Snow Lake. It is a sunny and somewhat warm day here: 80! Should be an excellent hiking day. :)

Elsa Update: She continues to hold her own. Weight has stabilized, and we now have all components on board: fluids (150 ml every other day), pepcid, cerenia, and Clavamox( to deal with her mouth which is all needing a dental related). anywyas, she is doing OK, up and about, venturing outdoors, and just being Elsa. We will have her reevaluated in a few weeks to see what her numbers say, and go from there. Her appy is so so. I do have to encourage her, hold the bowl some of the times, but she is eating a decent amount. All in all, a big improvement over a week ago. GO ELSA!

@Ann & Tess Morning Ann, and John - THX on the yard. It is a "work in progress", as we are still trying to do the spring cleanup  I too love all that green , all that open space. We bought this house from the estate of DH DGpa, the layout and general plantings are all his work. We are lucky, most homes here do not have the yard space we do. :) Weekend was a huge success, just very tirng!;) William loved his party, had the best of times. So agreed on those back to back parties: YIKES indeed!

@Tricia & Cinco Morning Tricia :coffee::coffee::coffee:Many THX on the pics. I do like Wa state, so green, and really very nice. Lots to see and do, such variety. Many THX on Elsa, she is responding, and we hope will continue to do so. I too need my kitty barista!!! THX for mentioing Forti Flora, I had not thought of it, silly me, as it is sitting in my "kitty pantry" I will give that a try too, anything to get those fuds on board! Sure is worth the try. THX on all, we do have fun, love it all. I think I thrive on being busy, keeps me outta trouble too. Sure is fun with the boys. I will pass on the birthday greetings! :)

@Ella & Rusty & Stu(GA) Morning Ella :coffee::coffee::coffee: It was a great party, all went really well. William's was such fun. Kids all enjoyed it too. A very busty day, but a good one. I really enjoy that giant cupcake, perfect for a young kids party, kid hand size, and not a total cake mess.:rolleyes::) It worked really well! Rusty, dude! perfect idea!

@Melissa & Tarragon Morning Melissa :coffee::coffee::coffee: It has been a busy one,r an straight through the weekend too. ;) Elsa syas thank you for the vines! So far she's doing OK, and with that little extra attention we hope to have her around for some time to come. THX too on the birthday greetings, I will pass them along. I know.... was thinking the same thing... 2? when did that happen! LOL! Fun times. :)

Wonderful Elsa report!! The fluids and meds really do a lot to help them feel better...and it doesn't hurt to have MamaBean hold the plate, either :joyful:!

Happy Birthday, Erin and William!!!

As always, your energy and stamina inspire me, Michelle...have a great day!!

@Amy&TrixieCat Morning Amy :coffee::coffee::coffee: A big yes on those fluids. I have to smile some on the fuds bowl holding, it so reminded me of you and trixie. Funny how Elsa eats better when I do.:) THX too for the birthday greetings, I will pass them on. LOL on the stamina and energy. I'm just about ready to head out the door and start another fun filled three days of just that with the boys. They do keep me hoppin'!:woot:
