? 6/6 Update on Noah and OTJ trial question!?!

Good evening everyone,

Noah is doing so good and we are getting very close to being ready for an OTJ trial His numbers just seem better and better everyday! I'm so happy and cannot thank the kind people of this board enough for all the help. I remember seeing some instructions for OTJ trials, but I can't seem to find them anymore. Would anyone be able to tell me where I can find them?

I bought some insulin cartridges a while ago and I don't want to jinx myself, but I don't think I will need all of them. I have three left. I will be keeping one in case we have to restart insulin at some point, but I'd like to help someone in need if I can. I'm not able to offer advice, so I would like to give back in a small way by helping out someone who can't manage to buy insulin for their cat at this time. I'm in Canada and don't think I can ship to the US, but would be happy to ship to anywhere in Canada. I'm not often on the board, so please reach out to me if you are interested or if you know someone I can help out.

I'm sorry we didn't see this earlier.

In order to give him the best chance at a strong remission, I would suggest you leave him at 0.1u for seven days unless he drops below 50 prior to that. If he does, let us know and we will take a look at his SS and if he's still got almost all green numbers, we can post the instructions for you.

Oh yes I will definitely wait until next Tuesday to start the trial if he keeps up the good numbers. I gave him 7 days for each dose and he hasn't dropped below 50 in quite a while so I don't expect him to do it with just 0.1 unit. I just needed to order new strips for the glucometer (from the US - so I'll have to wait a while to get them) and was wondering how often to test if he gets to remission. I think I remember seeing guidelines on how often to test in the OTJ trial instructions. I don't want to order too many as I usually buy 1000, but I still have a around 200 left so I'll wait until Tuesday (hopefully I didn't just jinx the OTJ trial for Noah).

I don't think the OTJ instructions are out there .. it seems the pros wait until the member is ready to start the OTJ trial then they post in that condo. That's just my guess.

As for the strips, I would still order the usual because you need to test at least twice a day at first. Rex went OTJ on 5/25/17 and I am already on the 2nd box of 50 strips. If you think 1000 is too many, then do 500?

During the trial you test at AM & PM. If he's green no further testing but if blue you'll grab another one. Once OTJ most test a min. of once a day for a while, some twice a day and then go from there. Every bean is different.

Noah is looking great, hope he keeps it green for a week on this dose.

I still test daily, even though BFG has been OTJ for a year, he hops on to my lap in bed in the morning for his test and pokey treat before he gets his brefs. I like to stay on top of his BG, so I can jump on it if his numbers should creep up.
