Yesterday's Condo

Another green PS!!! :D:D:D:D And look at all those "normal" number in a row (anti-jinx)!! I'm starting to think we've had another body snatching episode. I could definitely get used to this. Of course, since Cinco heard me say I needed to go out today, he just had to head down to the deep end. Luckily, DH was here and I was able to keep my pedicure appointment (she's just 5 minutes away, so I was only gone about an hour). He's still got his summer appy, but he's certainly eating enough - I think I normally overfeed him.

Minka's appy was okay today, but a letdown after the last two days. Still, she hasn't had any meds to help her eat for several days, so that's something to be happy about. And I am!!! :) Sasha is also exhibiting signs of SAS (Summer Appy Syndrome), but I manage to coax her into eating little bits throughout the day, so no worries. Harvey, of course, has his Hoover on...

So I made the drive back to Antioch and exchanged the Cover Me outfit. I haven't had the heart to put it on him yet, as it has been pretty warm today. I also completely forgot that I ordered a larger size of soft collar, so I'll be experimenting with that during the day when it's hot and maybe the outfit at night when it's cooler. We'll see. Hopefully at least one of them will do the job and we can ditch the plastic cone. Paws crossed. I will post a pic when I get him in the outfit, I promise.

@Shiloh & Rhonda, that video of the little goats was adorable!! Their outfits must have been custom made, as they fitted perfectly.

DH requested one of our favorite recipes tonight, which is fairly labor intensive, so I'd better get started or we won't eat until midnight. I hope everyone is enjoying this Caturday.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans. :bighug: Prayers and vines to Amy's DF, Marje's DM, Chris' DM and Elise's DM.

Great numbers for Cinco. I'm glad DH was able to be home so you could keep your appointment. I hope the new outfit fits. I'm glad Minka and Sasha did eat some today for you.

Yo Cinco, it sounds like you'll have a cool new outfit for your lagoon-watching assignments. You're in charge this evening!
~Rusty

Hi Tricia, I hope that the new soft collar and outfit will keep Cinco out of the cone. It's hard to watch the lagoon while wearing a cone.

"lets-continue-to-eat" vines for Minka and Sasha.

Ella & Rusty

Another awesome day for Cinco - a bean could get used to this. :D Paws crossed for an anti-cone solution.

More appy vines for your girls.

Yo Cinco glad you where at the lagoon. We had a lot of fun today.
Maybe tomorrow I will do another green purformance.
Stay close to shore. Don't go to deep.
Cuz Michael

I'm with you Tricia...I don't know what these two are up to, but knowing their past "relationship", it can't be good....LOL

Hope to see you at the lagoon tonight Cinco!! Hopefully our fearless leader will get back on duty soon too! ~ China

Thanks for stopping by, Carla, Ella, Wendy, Rhiannon, Paula and Chris. Darn, a blue PS! :(;)

Well, the larger soft collar was too big - he keeps stepping on it when he walks.

So I put the outfit on him - much to his displeasure. It's a little too small, but I think it will work. I'll have to watch him tonight to see if it presents him with any difficulties. He looks pretty funny in it.

He has no trouble stretching out and going to sleep in it! :joyful:

Sasha came downstairs just before I served their dinner, and in getting stuff out of the pantry I managed to step on her tail.

She yelled, of course, and that set Harvey off (that's his "trigger") - he attacked her and fur had flown before I got him off her. Poor little thing - trembling and growling and hissing and gasping for breath! I was terrified he'd hurt her. He was still trying to get at her as I took her upstairs. Minka was coming out of Mark's office and I quick shoved her back in and closed the door - he might have gone after her. I got Sasha in our room and shut the door in Harvey's face. She was still hissing, but calmed down after a little cuddling. She didn't seem to be injured, and there were only a couple little tufts of fur gone (darn it - she didn't have any to spare!). I left her in there and chased Harvey back downstairs. His tail was still fluffed and his eyes were wild. I dug out the diazepam that the vet gave me for him years ago. It's probably too old to have any effect, but I gave him a dose, anyway. By the time he was eating dinner he was calmed down and after the girls ate I opened the doors so they could move around. All is quiet, for now. I wish I knew how to prevent this from happening. It doesn't happen often anymore, but when it does, it's terrifying. He wears a calming collar, and there's a Feliway diffuser in that area, but it doesn't prevent it. Now Sasha probably won't come downstairs again for a long time. :(

OT: I picked up some chicken at the store on my way home because it would take too long to defrost any from my freezer. When I got it out of the refrigerator, I smelled something like rotten eggs, even before I opened the package. It was on sale for $5 off because it's "best if used by" date was 6/8. I opened the package, and it looked okay, but it still smelled nasty. I had DH smell it and he said I should take it back, so I did. There's 20 minutes lost, plus the 20 minutes it's gonna take to defrost the chicken from the freezer. Late, late dinner.

Love, love, love the Cinco pic! :):)

Bummer on Harvey - have you ever tried a kitty thundershirt on him?

Yuck on the chicken! I'm glad you are taking it back. Sounds like an excuse for take-out to me. ;)

Whew!! I am with Wendy, after the incident you just had alone with Harvey, it sounds like a good night for Ezell's or other take out with a big glass of wine or two! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

That pic of Cinco is adorable- hope it works! Mega truckloads of comfort vines for Sasha; and appy vines for all! :bighug:

Thanks for the idea, Wendy, Ruth and Chris, but Mark had his heart set on chicken in shrimp sauce, so it's in the oven now. I'm going to open a bottle of wine.

@Tiger and Ruth, what is Ezell's? We don't have that here.

@Wendy&Neko, I have a thundershirt. The thing is, he only gets like this when someone makes a cat squeal, which really only happens a couple times a month, if that. Thinking about how calm his is in the cat sack, though, the thundershirt might work for him. Hmmmm.

Poor Sasha, a double whammy getting trodden on and then attacked. Wishing you a calm and peaceful evening, enjoy your meal, sounds yummy.
Love the pic, so cute.

Tricia, what a night you've had! I hope Harvey setToed down and Minka is okay. I wouldn't use the diazepam. It can effect a cat's liver if tgey are allergic and there is no warning. I was given some as an appetite stimulant forvTiffany. She wasn't eating anything on her own at that point and I was so excited. I commenented on that and I was warned about it. I never used it again. I asked my regular vet about it and he said it was true but he personally hadn't seen the reaction.

Thanks for visiting us, Suki and Elise.

Minka finished her dinner and has had seconds. Cinco is letting the waves from the lagoon nibble at his toes.

Thanks for the tip, Elise. I think it has lost it's pow, as Harvey doesn't look drugged at all. Maybe I'll ask the vet for something else.

Cinco doesn't seem to mind the outfit at all...

Awww, Cinco!!! He is such an adorable boy! He looks so cozy. Sending appy vines for the girls and peaceful vines for Harvey! That sounds like a scary ordeal. I hope you enjoyed your special dinner!

Never a dull moment at your house!

Cinco looks adorable! Makes me want to get one for Skooter even though he doesn't need it cuz it looks so cute!

Calming vines for dear Harvey.....hopefully Minka recovers quickly and happy appy vines to Ms. Sasha...

Tiffany didn't have a reaction to it so I asked the vet if that meant she wasn't allergic and he said not necessarily with one dose. If allergic it causes liver failure. Again rare but I was afraid to use it.

That pic is just too cute for words!

Sorry Tricia, Ezell's is a local fried chicken joint, very similar to the franchise Kentucky Fried Chicken. I don't eat fried chicken often, but when I have a real bad day, or on New Year's Day or the 4Th of July Picnics, we let ourselves have fried chicken. If it's too hot outside, I don't want to make it myself so we get this as take out.:oops:

My point was, when you're having a bad day, comfort food take out can be your best friend. (pizza would have worked too!) But it sounds like you cooked a very nice meal for your DH, you're a better person than I am! :bighug::bighug:
