Thank you for all the visits. I'm not going to lie, I'm very concerned about Trixie's situation. Yesterday afternoon, she started having some issues with walking again - having to stop every 10 or so feet to rest. It wasn't nearly as bad as Friday, but enough to warrant going to the vet. To be honest, we were somewhat prepared to let her go - she's just got so much going on now - but she was being so feisty in the office that we just couldn't do it yet. Long story short, the vet offered several options: x-ray and possibly re-tap; increase the Lasix; help her cross. It took us a long, long time to decide what to do...and we still changed our minds several times, but ultimately we increased her Lasix. The vet gave her an injection, and through today we're giving her 6.25mg every 8 hours, and after that 6.25mg every 12 hours (up from 6.25mg once a day).
I don't know if we made the right decision or not. Sometimes she seems perfectly fine and normal; other times, she seems tired and is breathing harder - and I don't know if that will change in either direction. But I guess we felt we needed to give her a chance, without doing anything too drastic (we knew we didn't want to put her through another tap), before we made any sort of undoable decisions. Admittedly I am both terrified of her going into a crisis, and terrified of making a permanent decision too early.
Her appy is still pretty decent and she's being social and snuggly. Right now her breathing seems pretty good. Obviously I'm making a note of that BG, but I can't let myself get too wrapped up in that right at this moment. Last night's BG was 92.
Prayers to all....
