Just tested it - 446
He's also walking around the house meowing lol
Looks like he is bouncing AND hungry!
I think go back to the 5 units. He may stay high for a couple of cycles but just keep an eye on the BG, and try and get at least one test in during the cycles around the +5 or +6. Once he starts to come off the bounce you will need to test more often in case he drops lower again.
Does that sound OK with you?

Yes, will be looking very similar to 6/3 I think. I am going to feed him now & give 5u. I will definitely get at least one during the +5 or +6 mark, but not sure how many more today as I will be somewhat busy & trying to give his ears a little break from all the testing yesterday.

Should I start a new thread with today's date & AMPS # & link to this one?

I think you only need to test once during the cycle today and tonight if he stays high. Good chance to give the ears a break.
Yes, you start a new thread each day on the Lantus forum. And yes you link the previous post

Okay, thank you! One question regarding the 'snacks' - do they have to all be before the +6 mark? One day I did +4 & +8 so it was more evenly spaced & that definitely seemed to help with the hunger. But I pretty much only see people saying +2/+4 or +3/+5, so not sure if +4/+8 is a good idea or not. I just figured that way it was basically 4hrs between each feeding & wasn't 3hrs, 2hrs, then 7hrs, which seems like a big gap to me.

The reason we say to feed in the first half of the cycle is because that is when the insulin is the strongest. If you feed in the second half, you can shorten the duration of the insulin. If Channey is hungry in the second half, either offer some chicken juice from cooking (no salt) or give a very small snack with some warm water in to to fill him up. See if that works.

With the chicken I would gently poach it so that it retains the moisture. When it’s cold I would cut it up into small cubes.... Then freeze.
You could give the liquid the chicken has been cooked in to Channey. He should love it.
Ok, thanks for the suggestion - I will definitely try that!
& yes, I'm sure he will love the liquid - they always love tuna or chicken water if I open a can for something.
Sorry, I know this is an old post now, but just wanted to update you - I tried the poached chicken & they both smelled it & walked away. Neither drank the water either. o_O
