Yesterday, we entered a new phase in Neko's journey. Thanks to all for the support and amazing knowledge we have here.:bighug:

6/4 Recap:
AMPS 206 +9 169
PMPS 245 +9 172

In spite of all my angst Neko is still her usual self. Bursting out the door when we got home from rowing, purring on her memory foam bed while waiting for Otto, CPC with her usual relish. Momma was thick this morning. Neko gets to clean Theo's plate and I had left it on the table so he could eat in peace. Neko was very anxious until I remembered and put it on the floor. We must stick to our routines!

Looks like it's going to be another hot one today, the solarium will be popular today.

Vines to all in need today. Happy Friday.

Our kitties don't care about health issues. They are always their usual loving selves. I hope you can find ways to help Neko keep feeling good. :bighug::bighug:

Hugs to you, Wendy. You are such an awesome bean. And the knowledge on this board is unbelievable as well as the kindness and support. One of the blessings for us of Zener's diabetes. Neko, the good news is more wild boar! I'm glad DH got the doorknobs fixed, what a swell guy, very distressing to get locked in somewhere.

I hope you managed to get some sleep last night Wendy. I know when I first found out Sheba's BUN was a bit raised and her SG was a bit low, I was much more stressed about it than with the diabetes. I soon found out there is a lot I could do to help Sheba stay stable.
I was very interested in what Marje wrote.
To cut down the phosphorus level of the food, because I am doing home prepared, I did three main things.
I substituted some of the protein with cooked egg white. I threw out the bone meal and made my own egg shell powder and used it as a substitute for the bone meal. These two things alone drop the level of phosphorus quite a bit. And I cut back on the amount of organ meat I used as it is higher in phosphorus...but I still use some as it has so many of the vitamins and minerals.
I also started making sure Sheba had plenty of oral fluids every day. Her food is very soupy which she likes...well she likes it any way...she is food motivated...and I give her chicken broth as well. At night I fill her 6 compartment Autofeeder with a cube of frozen chicken stock...about 5 ml in each cube......if she is running higher I will put 2 cubes in each one. I also put a tiny tiny piece of boiled chicken in with each as motivation and she will run from the other side of the house when she hears the feeder click over.
I would check the raw food you use and see what they use for calcium. If it is bone meal I would try and find another one.
When I do use canned food for carbs I have been using Weruva as they have quite a few with low phosphorus. I found the high carb one harder, that is why I was so happy to go to the honey instead.
If you are interested in the egg shell powder or the egg whites I can tell you how I do them if you like. The ESP is not hard to do at all.
Sheba had her 6 month blood work recently and her numbers were stable.

Kitties do love their routines, don't they? One little deviation, and OMG, not good at all. Have a great weekend!

So sorry I didn't check back in later last night. I'm sure you had a hard time sleeping. I agree with what Carla said. It's the same thing my vet told me when she gave me Minka's diagnosis: "She doesn't know she has cancer. Don't tell her". Neko doesn't know anything is different. It sounds like she's feeling well, so that is huge in her prospects for staying stable.

Marje's knowledge often blows me away. How lucky we are, indeed, to have people like her, and many others, that have such a great store of this kind of knowledge are are willing to share it with the rest of us!

Sending many vines for Ms. Neko and :bighug::bighug::bighug: for you.

Any sunny day in the solarium is a good one for Neko.:) I have been doing a bit of research on lower P raw fuds and our largest raw fuds store has a 15% off sale on Sunday so I will be loading up. I am sure Neko will be fine with whatever Zu get.

Thanks all for visiting. :bighug: I actually slept well last night. The joy of early morning rowing. Plus I had been expecting something like this with her increased drinking so it wasn't a surprise. One day at a time.

Even though it's not the news you wanted to hear Wendy, knowledge is power and there certainly sounds as if there are ways to help alleviate the problem. Marje is not only the Borg Queen but the Oracle as well, amazing. Hugs to you and Neko :bighug:

She's still your sweet Neko. Look how far you've come emotionally with her since her acro dx.

I hope she got some solarium time....and maybe even a nap in the sun with mama!
