I was wanting to increase Millie"s ( the post DKA kitty) insulin but then she would start bouncing. The last few days she's been somewhat steady so I did increase her Lantus by .25. According to TR I could have increased more but Millie is not a good one to do that with. With her high numbers and tendency to bounce, it's always a bit difficult to increase. I have been ill but tried to test her a little more to make sure it was OK to change the dose, it seemed like it was. I am around some today and have someone coming by so I can get assistance testing her to see how she does on the new dose.

Is there any thing else I should do?

I think increasing was a good idea. I sympathize with you. Bouncy kitties are a challenge. If you're following TR you can increase after 6 cycles and, bouncing aside, it might be best to do so because she'll get "stuck" in the high numbers if she sits there too long. My guy will do that.

Didn't know they can 'get stuck' in the high numbers. She definitely likes it up there, lol!

I call it getting stuck but it's a case of developing glucose toxicity that makes them less responsive to insulin. It's reversible by continuing careful dose increases until the glucose toxicity is "overcome" and the insulin sensitivity returns. Some cats seem to go into glucose toxicity very easily - I have one of those.

Her system is quite stubborn with wanting to stay high. I read how folks are concerned about numbers in the 200 & 300 range where I would love to see more of those. I guess as I am more comfortable with all of this I will not be as frightened to increase her dose. Thanks for the info.
