Yesterday's Condo

The expected bounce made it's appearance this morning. I forgot to warn DH to expect it, and when he got a 334 at AMPS, he retested and got 307. I guess I made an impression on him the last time I ranted about retesting when you get a number you don't expect - that's twice now he's done it! :-D

Cinco doesn't seem to be in a hurry to clear this bounce. A nice, upper blue would have been better than that yellow +6, but I guess I should just be grateful he didn't dive off another cliff. :o Hopefully, now that we're back on schedule, things will sort themselves out.

Sasha is definitely sneezing less. Of course, I don't know if the AB is helping, or the Atarax works better than the other antihistamines I tried, or if whatever is causing the sneezing has dissipated, but I'm glad it seems to be getting better. I guess we'll find out when the AB is gone.

I still haven't heard from the office manager at the vet. I have been running around all day and didn't have a chance to call, but I will make a point to do so tomorrow. I guess, in the meantime, I should do some research to see if there are any other boarding facilities around that offer 14 hour care most days and 24 care some days (they cut back - they used to be 24/7). If nothing else, it would give me some leverage in pleading my case.

The heat wave has begun. I broke down and turned on the A/C a little while ago. I should only have to run it for about 2-3 hours, as it will be cooling off soon. There's already a Delta breeze, but it's not strong enough or cool enough yet to keep the house comfy. They are saying 102 on Sunday.

I hope everyone has had/is having a great Fursday! Sending healing vines to all in need, and hugs to all their beans. :YMHUG:

I hope Cinco clears his bounce quickly! Good for DH, taking initiative to run extra tests...very awesome indeed!!

Wonderful news about Sasha, too. Maybe this was just a stubborn something or other that needed to run its course.

I hope you guys are staying cool and having a relaxing evening!

Yes, Amy, awesome it is! I made sure to compliment him on it this evening, too. Positive reinforcement is always good.

Cinco must have decided I didn't have enough stress today, so he provided some. Dinner was Friskies SD T&G. Not one of his favorites, but I hadn't served it in a while, and figured I'd try it. No sale. He was sniffing it when my DH gave him the shot, and then turned away. A plate chase ensued, during which I noticed he was smacking his lips like he was nauseated. :o I dished up something I know he likes and offered it. He sniffed it and turned away, smacking his lips again. I got out the Ondansetron and loaded the pill popper. He was not his usual mellow self, and after several failed attempts, the gelcap was melting. I put it in a pill pocket, but he didn't want it. So I got another dose loaded and this time I managed to get it into him, followed by a syringe full of water for good measure. He was not happy with me. cat(2)_steam I then sprinkled some Forti Flora, which he likes, on his T&G and placed it near him, hoping when the med took effect he'd eat it. Darned if the little stinker didn't sniff the air, get up and walk over to the plate and start eating!! :o  Cinco: 1 Mamabean: 0

Sasha was similarly uncooperative about pilling and I had to employ the sack for the first time in several days. Sheesh! I need an adult beverage!

I hope Cinco clears this bounce and gets back to normal, thanks for the update on Sasha. And I have to say, some of you are so lucky your DH is able to test, that has to be a huge help, especially if he thinks forward enough to re-test-you trained him well!

Yup, one of those evenings when it's time for an adult beverage. Make it a cool one, that heat sounds rough. drinking24

OK Cinco, now that you've teased mommabean enough, how about a nice high green surf tonight.

My preferred adult beverage is fresca and 1.5 jiggers of coconut rum. Talk about refreshing on a hot, stressful day!

I hope Cinco ate tonight. Goodness but nothing is more stressful than a diabetic cat that won't eat

I'm glad Sasha is better. I take Atarax when my allergies act up. I also used it for a kitty with allergies until I found the Allerplex.

Have a great night.

Yes, Ruth, those of us with a DH that helps with the FD kitty are very fortunate. People like Ann (& Tess) and Marje are doubly fortunate because their DHs got very involved and know the drill. I really respect everyone that is flying solo on this journey.

Wendy, I confess, I had two. A glass of red with dinner, and then my favorite after dinner beverage - a shot of Sour Apple Pucker in a tall glass with a couple of ice cubes and about 10 oz of Crystal Light Appletini drink mix. Mmmm.

Marje, I love Fresca (my second favorite soda - the first is Tab), but I've never tried it with rum. I've had it with vodka. Not bad. Allerplex does not seem to help either Minka or Sasha, much to my disappointment. Minka likes the taste of it but Sasha doesn't, so I gave it to Sasha in gelcaps, with a struggle. Since it wasn't helping, I discontinued it for her when we got the scrips for Pred and an AB and then the Atarax.

Cinco cleaned that plate and ate the seconds I offered. When I tested him at +3 I gave him a tablespoon more of the same (T&G with FF on top), and he ate that too. I don't know if his tummy really was upset or if he was just messing with me, but I'm glad he ate and at least got down to a blue number. I'm hoping for something a little lower at +6.
