I understand how you must feel! Just think that tomorrow, you'll have a nice day for yourself!Yesterday caber 243
I see a stressful aggravating day ahead. Dad wants to go to store for "things" he must have. And he will spend hours looking, buy nothing because he has to 'think' about it and start complaining the minute he gets back to facility how he needs things.
Hugs and prayers to all.

Hope Olive likes her little increase !![]()
I hope everything goes well with your dad today! Even if it’s aggravating I think it’s so great that you take your dad out. You’re awesome
Maybe you should get some “things” for yourself while you two are out today, read: bottle of wine![]()

We have the same project! I'm also planning to redo kitchen/dining room since we bought this house! I keep postponing since a couple of years but better get going if I want to enjoy it before I die!tomorrow is my only day off. But I plan on going to building/remodeling place to hopefully get started on our kitchen. Have to take some pictures and preliminary measurements tonight.

Do you know what you're gonna do or are you at the planning stage ?
When bought this house 11 years ago, first thing to be done for me was kitchen&dining room; they were perfect for everybody but I didn't like the whole thing, color and all the rest..!Been planning for 10 yrs. I do know it's a total gut job. I want the drop ceiling out and prepapered paneling out. Most importantly the wall to wall carpet out. Would love to reconfigure layout but don't think it can be done. Keeping black appliances as they are only 5 yrs old. I know kind of cabinets, color I don't know. Floor has me stumped. I know the counter top will be white marble pattern in quartz. Fell in love with it when I was picking out my bathroom top. Need to keep it light as it's a dark area of the house.
How about you? What are you doing?
(either paint, stain or refacing?, can't make up my mind) Backsplash (actual half whole wall to be changed); new lighting; rethink whole storage, food pantry and small appliances... ! Lots to be done! If I manage to do it, I'll be very happy ... if it's nice

It's nice to hear Olive is playing and being pooped out! And oh boy, I don't have near any of those responsibilities as my parents are still young but I know how much effort, mental and emotional labour it takes to care for your parents and I see my mom do it day after day (PLUS taking care of HER kids aka me and my sisters and now my cat too!). My mom is always telling me to stuff her in a home and not to follow in her footsteps LOL! At this point in my life, where I don't have a family of my own, I feel like I would be okay with caring for her in her seniors days but she continues to tell me I'll feel completely different once I start my family.
Anyway, glad Olive is doing better![]()
OUF... you did so much work; everything has been redone! WOW...We bought this house in 2006. It was empty for the first 3 yrs as we're were to remodel it all before we moved. But ran into foundation issue and hubby didn't want to hire anyone. He spent all this time digging by hand and putting in all new drainage around house. It was a typical house of the 60's. All walls dark paneling. Blue 4" square tiles floor to ceiling in bathroom. Fiberglass insert over tile in shower/ bathtub. It was cracked and yellowed over time. All double hung storm windows that were wood (nice) but moldy and couldn't open them, some rotted. High humidity here. All but one room had ceiling fans. It was a very dark house because of paneling.
I moved in in 2009, hubby commuted for 10 yrs so was gone 4 days a week. Since then, we have resided the house, all new windows, doors, slider. New metal roof.
Inside, taken out all the paneling in master bedroom, drywalled, painted, put in ceiling fan from livingroom, new wood trim, carpet. Same for middle bedroom (green room) except kept ceiling fan. Small bedroom I painted the paneling, new carpet, new wood trim, new ceiling fan. Pleated cordless blinds in all bedroom windows. All bedrooms have closet organizers (white wire shelves and drawers). Living room painted (only room with no paneling), carpet, refinished wood trim, new ceiling fan, grommet curtains. Bathroom totally gutted and redone 2 yrs ago. Hallway paneling removed, drywall, painted, wood trim refinished. Eat in part of kitchen (dining room), paneling removed, drywall, new wood trim. It's part of the kitchen but now I need to do kitchen half.
Kitchen, dining, bathroom, master bedroom is one half of the house. Hallway separates other half. Kitchen, dining, hallway have the same carpet. I'm stuck on flooring. There isn't a good cut off place to have non carpet in kitchen and dining but carpet down hall. Definitely need carpet as the floors are really cold in the winter, but NOT in kitchen.
Once kitchen is done it's time to repaint bedrooms, sometimes connected rooms needed to change door frames when paneling was removed and drywall put in. New carpet again since cats have spit up and had accidents on them. The carpeting is 10 yrs old already. Then all new interior doors.
I was very lucky, we bought a two-storey house dating from 1895 with 9.5' ceilings and hardwood floors everywhere! Previous owners were being transferred so had to sell quickly and it was in the middle of winter, so less buyers! It's nice if your husband is good at renovating! Mine is only OK for rough jobs, nothing else..! This year, we have to change the windows, we'll start with a couple, the rest will wait for next year!OUF... you did so much work; everything has been redone! I should work on kitchen and dining room remodel but it's so funny, since Ti-Mousse was diagnosed I have trouble focusing on something else than him and his health!Maybe seeing you will get me going...
