Pretty uneventful (in a good way!) here. Timber eeked up to 109 this morning, though i had to chase him around the house to test him- he's starting to catch on and doesn't enjoy being poked it the ear!

hope all is well with everyone!! :-D :-D :-D

Re: 6/4 Timber AMBG 109

Today is a good news day! How would you and Timber like to start an OTJ trial?

Here are the instructions:

  • Test at your normal AMPS and PMPS times. Feed multiple small meals throughout the day as much as possible (small meals are less likely to overwhelm a newly functioning pancreas).

  • If he is green at your normal test times, no need to test further until the next "PS" time, just feed small meals and go about your day. If he is blue, feed a small meal and test again after about 3 hours. If his number is lower 3-4 hours after a meal, then his pancreas is working!

  • If all goes well, after 14 days, we have a party!

Sometimes the trial doesn't work the first time and we have to give a little more support in the form of resuming insulin. It's not the end of the world if that happens, we just give him the support he needs. Our goal is a strong remission and it's better to take our time to get that than to rush into remission just to have it fail later on.

If you aren't feeding a +9 minimal and can, you might want to and see if the blue AMBG/PMBG numbers will come down into green.

Good luck!! And congratulations!

Usually, we have you add to the subject line "OTJ Trial Day x" with the x being the day of the trial

How exciting, an OTJ trial. Woo Hoo! Go Timber!

If you list OTJ Trial Day # in your subject line each day, everyone can keep track of where you are and help you celebrate.

thank you everyone!! :-D :-D :-D

i'm beyond thrilled that Timber has responded so well to the insulin. i realize that we're not in the clear (OTJ) quite yet, but he's definitely doing MUCH better than he was a month ago- or 6 months ago for that matter! :-D we really thought he had developed cancer like his dad did and was winding down to the end. and now he's like a whole new kitty again! he's more alert and a lot more playful. it's like he's 5 years younger all of the sudden! so, even if he needs to go back on the insulin for a while longer, i'm soooooo very glad i found this board and all of you amazingly supportive folks! i'm not sure where we would be without you!! thank you all!!! :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:
