6/4, Susie, 245 AMPS, No 2 Unit Increase Tomorrow, 145 @2.5, 110 @3.2

I agree with Bhooma. I think you'd be better off giving the full 0.25 unit increase. However, if you decide to try a skinny 2 units you should be able to measure that with calipers. You should be able to also do a fat 1.75 units. I was able to get both fat and skinny measurements with calipers.

I have decided not to increase Susie to 2 units tomorrow. I have some personal concerns that deal with my 90 year-old Mom and her bad reaction to her latest chemo. I cannot be tied to Susie, if she is going low, if my Mom needs me to take her to the ER for chest pains or severe nausea. She is also having severe hip pain which requires that I drive her to doctor appointments. I will shoot for a fat 1.75/skinny 2 units. Based on my Ulticare syringes, and the fact that 1.75 units is 2.18 mm on the calipers, and 2 units is 2.5 mm on the calipers I will estimate that she will need 2.34 mm on the calipers. Sorry to disappoint. Life hands you lemons when you least expect them and don't need them. I know so many people on this site are dealing with personal issues.

On top of that, it looks like I have to find a new home for my foxhound. I received an official complaint from the Sheriff's office regarding her barking. This requires me to constantly walk her outside on a leash instead of just letting her go. This really has little impact on Susie but does require additional time. I bought her a "bark collar" which was my last resort. I don't think they are very humane but if I want to keep her I have to control the barking. I just cannot be worried about dealing with Susie going low, needing constant feeding and constant monitoring at this time. I will do the best I can with a slight increase and will take it from there. I'm still SLGS so I will live with the 7 day consequences.

Thank you, Pamela. I am now a "care giver" for the third time. My first was my husband, who passed away in 2013, now my Mom and also Susie. I think God has appointed me as a "care giver." Funny thing is, I have no children to care for me when I get old and sick. Oh well, such is life. We deal with what is given to us.

By the way, bless you for being there for your Mom through all those cancers. This is also my Mom's third. The first was breast, then colon and now lymphoma.

Oh Summer. I send you big hugs. I’m sorry that you are going through all of this. You have to do whatever you have to do. I’m sorry about your foxhound as well the Opossum in the yard the other day did not help either, I am sure. Whatever happened with the opossum anyway. Did he get out?

I never saw him leave but I think he might be living under my shed and mostly just comes out at night and that is what my crazy foxhound smells when I let her out in the morning. All in all, Kali was good. Yes, she grabbed him from the top of the fence but then she backed away. I have seen her chase my ducks in the backyard and surely could have caught and killed them but never did. I believe she is all "bark and no bite".

No one is disappointed in you. You have to balance things out to be able to take care of your Mom and Susie. I hope things work out so you can keep your foxhound. Sending prayers for you and your Mom. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
Thank you, Carla. I got my bark collar tonight so will see how it works tomorrow. I just hope it doesn't freak her out. As I said, it is my last resort before giving her up.

One of the guys who lives downstairs also had to put a bark collar on his little girl pup. He told me at first it was scary for both him and her ,but she adjusted to it and is alot quieter now. So he does not have to leave here:) Hopefully you will also have positive results:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
