Cali goes home end of this week or the beginning of next kinda. Either I'm returning her directly to her dad or to the vet's office and they'll hand her back over. Still working on the details but she's not moving with us. Especially not after last night when she went after Autumn for no reason.

Cali was asleep in my knitting basket by my feet, Autumn was sleeping on the couch between Jon and I. All of a sudden Cali starts winding up her siren and leaps up and latches on to Autumn's throat. I move to rescue my girl and Jon dumps his glass of ice water on Cali to get her to release and she turns and attacks Jon. Long story short, Autumn got bit, Jon got bit and I got bit. Cali got escorted to the kennel with a broom where she spent the night. I will not have a cat I can not trust and that only gives you a split second warning before going nuclear. If Autumn hadn't been already on the move when Cali attack her Cali would have bit her in the face. Unacceptable !!!

Oh no... that's terrible! It looks like Cali doesn't like have to share her owners. It will be good for her to go back to her owner and be an only cat. I hope this all works out for them.

Poor Autumn. I really get pissed when my boys chase my elderly Emmylou down the stairs - they also get my wrath when they bother Alska who is feeble with bad eyesight - even if it is just play for them.

Wow - you don't need these antics while you are trying to move - that's for sure.

Actually I think its possible underlying medical issues with Cali I'm seriously suspecting she has cancer. She has lumps near her tits and her belly has always been extended and hard since she got here. Either that or she's hypoed so much being shot blind that she has mental damage. But I can't take anymore bipolar behavior from her.

All I am sure of is she's going in to the vet's as soon as they open this morning and will be seen whether I bring her back with me is yet to be seen. At the very least if I bring her back I want her on prozac and pain meds. My first concern is my babies!! They will not be attacked in their own home. Cali has already undone 4 years worth of work with my semi-ferals. Both of which are cardio kitties.

I bet you are right, Mel. Something set her off, and pain is the most likely cause. Sorry to hear you have that added stress right now.

I have to take my civvie in for a vet check too. He has lost too much weight. His BG is fine, so I am thinking thyroid. I have put it off for a week or more but its time to face whatever it is. He is 16.

Aww... poor sweet Autumn. So sorry to hear that Cali was acting up. From your description, I'm thinking you're probably right and there may be something else going on health wise with Cali, which is too bad. Hope things settle down for the fur gang. With so much going, you don't need any added stress.

Re: 6/4 Autumn amps-394, Cassanova amps-241, Cali amps-505

Well we're back from the vet's and I'm using the term loosely for the stupid ignorant @#/$!& we saw today. Cali has a whole lot going on with her besides diabetes and because she's a foster I can't do what would be the right thing for her which at the very least would be a dental or what truly probably should be done which would be to release her and send her to go play with Muse, Musette and Onyx at the bridge.

Her back legs and hips are full of arthritis, her gums are bleeding and most of her teeth are so rotten their black at the gumline. Her stomach is full of gas causing bloat. Both eyes are infected from her teeth being bad and she has growths growing in the back of her mouth on both sides which idiot child told me was gingervitis..yeah and I'm a dog person..what I saw was small cell cancer.

So I came home with eye drops (4-6 times day) antibiotics which I was told to mix into PANCAKE SYRUP!!! For a diabetic when pigs fly!!! And pain meds. METACAM which has a black box warning for use in cats!!

I can't sign for her to be put under for a dental or to be euthanized because she's not mine. The owner won't authorize because the dental will be too expensive. She could only have care up to $100 and today alone was $93. And since dad isn't back home yet the daughter won't let me put her down. So poor Cali just has to suffer until someone lets me do what needs done. For Christ sakes I'll pay for the damn dental just give permission for me to do it.

Ideally if meds and a dental don't work to give her some measure of quality of life back then lets all meet at the clinic and together send her on her next grand adventure at the bridge.

I'm just sick. I am so angry I hurt for this baby girl she deserves so much better and if they would let me I'd go through whatever she needs even if its singing her into a forever sleep. This is cruel and so wrong in so many ways.

I've requested that when my vet gets a chance that she call me since I saw a vet I've never even seen before at the clinic today and basically was ready to punch in the face before I left.

Re: 6/4 Autumn +6-255, Cassanova +6-145, Cali +6-244

I am shaking with rage on your behalf, Mel. That is so horrible! I feel so bad for that poor cat and for you and Jon. Its just not fair for the vet to ask you to foster her, and then have you handcuffed like this.

Wild @$$ question: Is this not animal abuse? what would the SPCA about it?

I sure hope your regular vet has more sense that Doogie Houser had this afternoon.

Re: 6/4 Autumn +6-255, Cassanova +6-145, Cali +6-244

Finally talked to my vet who owns the practice...she got me the bupe so good there and she's going to get the owner to sign a release for the dental as soon as we complete the antibiotics. If she can at that time remove the growths she will if not she'll do a cell scraping unless its obvious its cancer in which case she'll just not let Cali wake up. And Doogie will be looking for a new job tomorrow morning. Dr Tami hit the ceiling when I told her I was instructed to give pancake syrup to a diabetic.

One way or the other Cali will get the care she needs even if we have to run behind the owner's back. Well actually the owner's daughter's back.

Mel, this is great news, if there can be great news when the poor baby has so many problems. You and I are so much alike, and I knew that you would not just accept this nonsense that Doogie spewed. All the best to you in your efforts and God Speed to Cali

Re: 6/4 Autumn +6-255, Cassanova +6-145, Cali +6-244

Oh forgot to mention Doogie wanted to know if I knew which line was the 1ml on an oral syringe...excuse me? I'm a trained vet tech and I can dose in tenths of a unit with insulin. Please God tell me you're joking asking if I can find the 1ml line!!

Alas nothing got done on the house at all today. Sigh. And to top it all off I haven't bought a pack of cigarettes since starting vapeing in Feb...well that changed today. Regretting it already but today was just one of those days.

Oh Mel... additional ((((((HUGS))))))) for you and Cali. I'm tearing up just reading about all of this.
