It is with a very heavy heart and many tears that I am posting this on Randi's behalf. Randi is on vacation and posted the note below on Facebook.

Max was a wonder kitty. His is the spreadsheet I would refer people to who became frustrated when their cat's dose would be increasing and they saw no end to FD. Max's situation was much the same until he reached that magic dose and everything turned around.

Randi has been a constant supporter of LL and her on-going stories of Max and her other kitties always make me smile.

Fly free, Max and land softly. There are many who we dearly love who will be there to play with you and Sasha and keep you safe until you are reunited with those you love best.

My dearest friends. I have terrible news to share. My dear sweet precious boy Max has left this world and crossed to join others at the Rainbow Bridge. I do not know what happened as I am away. He was found this morning in his box and would not wake up. There was some blood in his mouth. Please light candles for my Max so that he finds his way and is reunited with his sister Sasha. Fly free my Max and land softly. Mommy loves you forever and always.

Oh no .. This is so sad .. ((hugs))) Randi, I have no words for how sorry I am .. I know your heart is breaking right now, but please take comfort in knowing that Max is at the rainbow bridge telling all the other GA's how wonderful his life was, because of you ... Fly Free Max ...
 
(((Randi))) so sorry to hear the sad news of Max! How heartbreaking and unexpected! My heart and prayers go out to you. I will light a candle for Max today. Confort vines and hugs to you,
 
Randi, my heart is heavy as I read this. max was such a legend in LL, and I know how much we will all miss him. My heart goes out to you. I hope in time all the good memories will comfort you. Dear (((((Randi))))),
We are so sad to hear this news. The big guy was such a wonderful kitty and we know how much you will miss his physical presence. I think back to all the fun times Max and Stu had together. Now, at the Bridge, Stu will see his friend again and they will share a nice dinner with all their other GA friends.
Randi, I hope that you can take comfort that Max died in his sleep, at home. He lived a wonderful, long life with you and your family. He will always be with you in his very special place in your heart.
Fly free, sweet Max, on your beautiful new golden wings, and let your mamabean know that you arrived safely at the Bridge. We are lighting our candle tonight to help light your way.

Oh Randi, I'm so very very sorry to hear this. May you find some solice, in knowing Max is at the Rainbow Bridge, playing with old friends, and making new friends.
May it not be too long, before you can find comfort in your memories of the funny and silly things he did. wings_cat

((((((RANDI)))))) I am shocked & so so saddened to read this, that your wonderful Max has gone to the Bridge...Moonie & I Loved him so, he was such a wonderful Boy who brought Joy to everyone who knew of him...He couldnt have been more Loved, Better Cared for, or Happier, than he was with you. I am crying now as I feel the Pain in your heart at this loss--Lantus Land is in mourning for the legend that was Max..I will never forget him--WE Love you...Lighting a candle to light his way to the Bridge, where so many friends will meet him there..Love you Randi!

Randi, I am heart broken.

Max showed up on FDMB around about the same time as I did with Shadoe. We were going up the dosing ladder, Max, Shadoe, and Ronnie's Luna. Luna stopped first and went OTJ, and then Max finally stopped around 6u, then dropped and went OTJ, leaving Shadoe to continue upward to her acro dx.
Max was such a big lug of a kitty; he reminded me of my Ollie, such a big and gentle guy. I hope Shadoe met her buddy Max at the bridge.
I am shocked and so saddened to hear this news.
Please think of Max and light a big candle for the sweet boy.
 
I'm so sorry for your loss of Max, Randi. It must be so hard not to have been there and not knowing what happened. He had a wonderful life though and it must have been his time to go. I hope you can start thinking of the good times soon and mourn his loss less and less as you celebrate his life more and more. Until then I wish you strength and please take care of you.

I am so very sorry for your sudden and tragic loss. Max is gone from your arms but will live forever in your heart. My thoughts are with you.

You are family to us here, Randi, and Max will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his many friends.
 
((((((((((Oh Randi)))))))))) I am so sorry to hear this. Max was such a special kitty. I can't imagine how hard it was to get such news while you are away. Be sur that Max is again with his sister and that all the GAs are welcoming him at the Bridge. Keep the joyous memories close and celebrate his Life.

Beyond the Rainbow

As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade.
I saw a wonderous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.
I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful--lush and green and wide!
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be!
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do.

I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright
That this place is truly wondrful, then a bright Glow pierced the night.
'Twas the Glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold.


For although we may not be together in the way we used to be,
We are still connected by a cord no eye can see.
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.

(((Randi))) ....I am so sorry. For whatever reason, Max chose to cross at this time.....but he will always be with you. He will always know the profound love you have for him.

((Randi)) What a sudden shock the board is in today learning what happened. This is so sudden and so sad - especially with you away from home. We never know, do we?

My heart goes out to you - Max was such a "big love" here on the board - and will be missed - but there must be a HUGE party going on at The Bridge today.

Please know that we feel your sadness and grief - sending many heartfelt comforting prayers and thoughts your way for the hurt that your heart is feeling right now.

Oh Randi, I'm so sorry. What a shock. I'm crying buckets with you today... I hope BigMac can comfort Max as they run off to play together.
Max was such a big beautiful boy and I loved being here as he went shooting up that dosing ladder. Then the fast slide down was incredibly exciting.

My heart is breaking for you today as I know how you must be hurting. I wish there was some magic to help you feel better. But please know that the arms of your FDMB friends are holding you close.

u already know how I'm feeling, crushed and devasted for your loss of your beautiful boy.

"our" generation during our time in LL., you, Max, Gayle, Shadoe and Luna and I, will always hold a special place in my heart.
my fondest memories of my adventures with Max was when I was ringing down the phone, via long distance, to reach your then-housekeeper/petsitter to help her with the numbers, at your house while you were on a cruise. Those were some crazy 3-way communications!

even more awesome as we all watched Max do amazing things to go OTJ.
He will always be - and still is - an inspiration to those of us struggling on the dosing ladder.

Dear sweet Max, myself and Linda were so close to having the honour to meet you, and snuggle you with hugs and tummy rubs, just 4 weeks shy... :sad:
but we will see you soon Randi, and give you big hugs.
I am so sorry this happened, how it happened.

Thank you everyone so much for all the love and support and thank you Sienne for opening a condo for my boy.
I am still in shock over the news. I called home to chat with my mom yesterday who hesitated to tell me the news. I was expecting that another family memeber had passed away when she said Max died. I replied, who is Max?? She said Randi, Max. Again I said who is Max. Finally it hit me that it was my big, beautiful orange 20 pound gentle giant, as Gayle always calls him.
How could that be? He was healthy, happy and I just said goodbye for my trip and that I would be back soon so he should not worry. He was supposed to be there when I got home on Tuesday. I do not know how I will walk into the house without him there and see how the 3 girls are managing without their brother.
Mom and a family friend brought him over to my vet and it was said that he had an aneurism. My boy just went peacefully in his sleep. With all of his medical issues over his life I never expected he would die in his sleep. 12 is too young. He is waiting at the vet until I return so I can say goodbye and make final arrangements for him.

Max was a miracle kitty here on the board. His dosing kept going up and up to 6u when he came crashing down and he has been OTJ since April 2010. I could never have saved him then without this board. Many of us had sleepless nights watching his numbers.
Although 2 years have passed since my direct active involvement here I hold you all close to my heart.
Your are family to me and my Max. I will miss him dearly.
I am waiting for him to send me a sign that he has arrived safely. I just don't know why he left me so soon. I love him beyond words could describe and even though I have 3 girls at home, Max knew he had that little corner in my heart that was always his.

Thank you all for saving my boy when he was diagnosed and thank you for sharing in my grief in losing him.

Oh Randi. Words can't begin to express how sorry I am that Max had to leave you. Such a terrible shock for you. I know loosing one of our babies so suddenly is so hard. I'm glad though that he went in his sleep. My heart is with you. I know that Tori was there to meet Max at the Bridge. What a party they must have had to welcome him home. You and your gentle giant will meet again. Hold unto that thought.

Randi - I know how heartbroken you must be. It is in the natural order that we lose our furbabies, but it is always too soon, we never have enough time, and these sudden departures are so hard to absorb.

Max is at peace, and I know his spirit will stay with you.
