Sooooooo just to be contrary, last night Faraday did see a nadir in the 60s. Does this mean I should have my pet sitter friend do 0.75U vacation dose?

@tiffmaxee @Bandit's Mom

I'll leave a syringe with colored water in it for reference, and I have confidence she can do the dose appropriately (we're both wet lab bench scientists, so while much smaller than the syringes we normally work with, it's not a completely foreign object). I just want Faraday to stay safe over the long weekend!

Is she going to be living at your place and ensuring he eats? Or will she come twice a day to just feed and shoot? If it's the latter, 0.75U might be safer because no one is around to feed through the cycle.

@tiffmaxee ?

She's just coming by three times a day. She will be ensuring he eats though, as I'm having her feed him his full can of wet food in thirds over the course of about an hour. And the civvie is getting wet food too, which will likely be left out for her since she's afraid of strangers and likely won't eat much while we're gone, so if anything, I think Faraday might get some extra food?

It's only for 5 days. He will recover (if he doesn't decide that he likes 0.75U after all!). Better to be safe. You can have a stress-free vacation. :-)

I would feel better if you drop the dose to .75. That’s why the other day I said to have the CG err on the side of less than 1.0. It’s just 3 days. When you have been away in the past did he eat well? Even so better too high than too low.

The whole family hasn’t been out of town since Faraday’s diagnosis, but he scarfed up any and all kibble left out for him on previous trips. Just I was out of town last week for work, and he did fine then. My other cat is more likely to hunger strike when we leave, but she’s a civvie and could stand to lose a few pounds, so it’s not all bad!
