PMBG 87 :D:D:D:D

So we broke our run of 70s but I think this was influenced by a couple of things.

No one was home to feed him his +9 meal. At +10 DH got home and offered him food, Cinna wasn't interested and instead threw up a huge hairball. I got home at +10.5 and coaxed him into eating a small amount of LC. It was 1hr 30mins from testing time so I knew I was taking a risk that the food would bump him into the blue, but, it didn't. So I guess that's a good sign?

I sent a urine sample to the vet yesterday to make sure that UTI was gone; I called today but only managed to talk to a tech instead of his doctor. They said he has some blood in the urine and asked if Cinna had any UTI symptoms; which he doesn't really (but I also haven't been able to observe him enough to say that for sure). All the other results were good.

The previous urinalysis where they diagnosed the UTI was done 6/20 - it was also free catch, the lab printout is wrong on that part.

6/29 urinalysis results:
Blood/Hemoglobin 50 (6/20 it was 50)
RBC 9/HPF (6/20 it was 30!)

I'm not sure what to think about this, they didn't seem too worried. I'm wondering if I got this test done too soon (9 days after Dx), that he's still healing up from the UTI. These test results are better than the last.

Cinna has also lost weight, which, he's been losing since we changed his diet. I think he's at a good weight now and hope not to see him drop further. I am weighing him on people scales by weighing him + me then subtracting my weight, so, not super accurate.

I was going to see if i could get the doctor to give me a call tomorrow so I can ask more questions - any suggestions on what I should ask or expect would be really appreciated. :)

Green is green. He might be lower 3 hours after food.

I think you said the only symptom he had was drinking water excessively? When the UTI was diagnosed? Is that still there?

Congrats on day 4!!
Could you maybe talk a little about how you got to this point OTJ regarding meals? You mentioned a +9 feeding tonight— what intervals did you feed on average? Amps and pmps feeding intervals. And what feeding schedule was most successful? Thanks I could use the help!

Thanks @Bandit's Mom!

Yes, his only symptom is drinking excessively. He still is. I suspect that's more to do with the budesonide or something else because it's been that way for a long time. I expected it to stop once we got him off the dry food but it didn't, which is why I took a urine sample for testing. I wasn't expecting a UTI because he didn't really have any other symptoms. I was worried something else was wrong, like his kidneys.

He doesn't like me watching him pee, so hard to say if he was straining or not; I'd say maybe a little from the very few times I saw him. He was occasionally chirping (NOT howling or crying) before using the litter tray a few days before I took that sample in.

I took the original urine sample in on 6/20, they diagnosed a UTI from whatever they saw on there (I don't have a copy, but, the latest lab report includes the values from the 6/20 test). They didn't send it for a culture but prescripted a week of Clavacillin which we completed 6/28. I took another urine sample in yesterday (6/29) to make sure it was taken care of and we didn't need more antibiotics. Maybe that was premature and I should have waited a little longer for it to clear. They seem to think this lastest test doesn't need to be sent off for a culture or anything further, but, I only spoke to the tech so didn't really get the full details of why.

Clinically, he's doing great. He's happy, grooming himself again, purring, sometimes even playful. He's pooping and peeing normally (as far as I can tell).

I’ve always been told by my vet if checking for a uti a free catch won’t work and the sample needs to be taken directly from the cat. If a free catch is free of bacteria though there isn’t an infection present.

My feeding schedule is in the remarks section of my SS, but, I'll try and give a summary:

Feeding times:
AM+0 - after shot feed
AM+1 - I did this for a bit because he would drop rapidly by +2 and I wanted to slow that down, I stopped doing this when he was on a lower dose and didn't drop so much
AM+2 - feeding at +2 to keep him surfing the greens and not dipping too much
AM+4/+5 - lunchtime to keep surfing the greens
AM+9 - I only started doing this once he was on lower doses, it would give him a lower PMPS by kicking his pancreas into action

PM cycle looked the same but the +4/+5 is more like +3/+4.5 because I want to go to sleep lol

Interesting... I wonder if they worry about false positives on a free catch from contamination. His 6/20 looks like there was something in the bacteria section, it's cut off on the results, but, the 6/29 test is all negative for bacteria. The only thing out of place is the blood in the urine. I'm wondering if it's possible I just retested too soon, like the bacteria has gone but the inflammation is still there and hasn't healed up fully yet. That's pure speculation, I have no idea how all this works.

Thanks, that’s super helpful. Still fine tuning feeding but yes at some point I would like to leave the house lol. Prolly get a feeder soon but would still need someone here to test, my wife has not quite gotten the hang of it but she is practicing

If there is blood present but no UTI it is possible that he has FLUTD. But normally with FLUTD they have symptoms such as frequent peeing, or finding it hard to pee and only doing dribbles, blood in urine, sometimes some urinary incontinence with a flare up.
