Dammit, fur shot. But in 6 mo of insulin I think it’s only our second, so I’ll take it.

UTI/pain update: he seems much happier after only one day of pain meds, he used two normal litter boxes last night and slept in our room for the first time in a long time and just seems more comfortable getting onto the floor to sit or lay- no more groany-purrs.

Looks like the increase is helping to bring your boy down, Jay Dee. Give it a little time. Glad to hear the pain meds are helping. We have all had the "fur shots". Frustrating but we survive them. Hope he continues to feel better!

@Summer and Susie and @Suzanne & Darcy Thank you! Yes we are hopeful that this dose will do the trick, and that pain mgmt may be the final piece of this big puzzle. Despite reading "it's ok" stuff about metacam, i'm reluctant to give any more - i did read some personal accounts of things that didn't go so well. He only has to wait one more week til his appt. I'll ask about bupe or gabapentin or maybe adaquan at his appt next week. I looked at his labs (The ones i have onhand are now on my SS) and unless his calcium levels come down (they were borderline high last few times), I don't think the (one that begins with a D from Chewy) will be an option for him. I guess it COULD if we give him something to lower the calcium, but if there's something that'll work without doing that, i'm happy not adding yet another thing to his food - his list is already insanely long, and it feels like i'm trying to balance the chemistry of my spa - LOL!!! My supplement game for my own self should be this strong!! :cat:

Duralactin, you can get it other places besides Chewy. But I wouldn't add it if calcium is borderline. Try some of the other options first. Hyaluronic acid (I used the Hyaflex brand) can also help inflammation from arthritis.

I ended up getting one of those pill organizing box systems for Neko. There is a point at which their meds take up too much space on the counter top.
