well, no antics this morning, but clean plate membership status achieved for punkin (duh) and he made sure anya got there too. she wouldn't have - she is such a little kitter and left 1/2 of her food, but fortunately punkin was right there to finish things up. he's giving me The Stare wondering if he can psychic-ly control me and like a zombie, i will go to the cupboard and open another can of food.

it's not working, punkin. gotta wait for the rest of breakfast!

i'm off to my friend's mini-farm for a day of quilting today. she has new baby goats to admire!

kids! what kind? a friend of ours had pigmy goats.

we did a homecoming float of a castle one year, they used it as a playground for the goats after.

they always looked like little compost machines covered in fur with horns and legs, sooo cute!

i miss the pnw!

Julie, I just caught up on yesterdays condo.. You're such an indian giver :lol: . At least he forgave you. That had to be so funny to see the look he had on his face when you took it away from him.
Poo poo on the Acro Dx, but you are so right, You, me and Bev we'll be going through this together and i think that's going to help tremendously, not to mention ALL of our LL family here for support whenever it's needed.. That's still so cool to have the feeling that your not alone..
I want to see pictures of the goats too please!

I forgot I was waiting for you to open up a condo. I also got caught up on yesterdays posts. I am sorry about the Acro diagnosis. But I do know you have good company here and good advice. Hope you have a good time today. (((((Punkin)))))

Hi Julie. I hear that there is an acro-cat support forum. Is that right? Would you please give me the info on that. I hope you had a fun day quilting and enjoyed the baby goats. Sounds like fun.

gosh, i confess i never got out to see the baby goats. i saw them a couple of weeks ago when they were just 2 days old. so adorable!

but i did almost get done with my quilt top!

i'll post the youtube video of her adult goats that i did last year on loose lips. we were feeding them carrots and their mouths are the funniest thing ever. ohmygosh, i crack up every time i watch it, especially around the 2min mark.

rushed back to check on punkin and he's 188. the vet called while i was gone and i have an email from the veterinary dentist, so i've got to make some decisions there.

I'm sorry I'm so late to things. I'm actually in a campground now but just learned that u abd ur kitty just got the + back on the IGF 1 test. I'm one if the older acro moms and altho I didn't use lantus or lev I still keep up on what goes on. I hope the documents I write up with the help of all the others were useful to u. Also I put together a calendar if all our acro kitties n stat in touch with Dr Lynn who dies research of acromegaly. I will write u mire when I get home but I wanted to let u know I am thinking if u and ur boy and always wishing you the best

that's so sweet of you patti, thank you! i love that you cared enough to post from a campground :-D i'd forgotten about the calendar already - things have been a little overwhelming the past few days! but of course, i think he's positively gorgeous *ahem* not that i'm biased!

i've been reading everything i can find, and also "blessing" my vet with all the articles! :lol: he's a wonderful guy - i don't know his take on all of this but will talk to him later today.

thanks morgan - i guess that's our new "green" if i understand correctly.

Oh my friend, I am sorry about the acro dx, I was gone yesterday.. But, you have a tremendous amount of support here, and we all care so much about each other--No worries, we will all be here for you-
There have been many acro kitties on here who are still doing very well after yrs...
Funny thing is that punkin doesnt know anything is wrong, he's the same punkin he was 2 days ago..
And do treat him that way, he is still your sweet punkin!--I just know you'll rise to the occasion..

i absolutely love it when people say he's the same cat he was 2 days ago and doesn't know the difference! that just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy, because it's a reminder that he is a whole cat, not a diseased cat. thanks Roni! the last few days i've spent so much time on the computer ABOUT him and acro that i had to stop and remind myself to spend the time WITH him instead.

and of course, by the time we've suspected this and got the diagnosis, it's already been going on in his body for a long time. it's only new to me, not to him.

just spent 1/2 hour on the phone with the vet (have i mentioned how much i appreciate him?) he is trying to learn all he can about this and has given me some good information. I asked him about the veterinary dentist, who he knows and has taken classes from, and am going to start with her to get punkin's mouth issue resolved. I'm going to hold off on the trial at CSU - the radiation and surgery options seem to me to be too much for a kitty punkin's age. it would be too traumatic to get him there as well, not to mention expensive, and i'm not sure the benefit is enough. For the Octreotide meds, he explained to me how that class of drug (somasatropin?) that they are trying works, and didn't think there's a residual benefit. so you get 6 months of the drug paid for, but then you're on your own and it says it's several hundred dollars a month. He said it's not even used that much in humans because it's so expensive and it's hard on the gut.

so i think we'll start at the beginning with the dentist, continue with the insulin, and take it one day at a time. and enjoy those days. :-D

*brushing off my hands* no more big decisions for today!
