Good morning,

Yesterday's condo

Yesterday
AMPS=221 (1u); +2=274; +10=248
PMPS=283 (0.75u); +2=292; +5.5=239

Today
AMPS=205 (0.75u); +2=270; +9=247
PMPS=221 (0.75u);

Lucy is feeling and eating fine this morning. :smile:
Still finger-feeding of course... but gave me some licks on my face as I was waking up and then followed me to the kitchen.

Knowing fully that this could be a setback, I'm doing sort of a rebound check because I felt strange about how her cycles were going.
I started it last night, and so far, no clear indication from Lucy which way she wants to go.
I was sort of hoping her number would get worse, so I can get on with going up the dosing ladder with a clear mind that I'm doing it right.
Come on, Lucy, I need that confirmation.

Sending vines to all in need.

Re: 6/3 Lucy AMPS=205

Glad Lucy is feeling good today, but I hope you get the confirmation you need. Have a great day, Mariko!

Re: 6/3 Lucy AMPS=205

I'm glad Lucy is feeling good today...that's the only thing that really, truly matters! Hopefully you'll figure out what's going on with the rebound check. Just don't forget we're dealing with FD kitties who totally have minds of their own, and no matter how hard we beans try, we may very well never figure them out :roll: :lol: !!

I hope you guys are having a great afternoon!!

Re: 6/3 Lucy AMPS=205

How great that Lucy is feeling good and eating for you. Good luck with the rebound check. I hope she shows you something soon.

Re: 6/3 Lucy AMPS=205;+2=270;+9=247

Thank you for your well wishes, Deborah, Amy and Carla.
Hmmmm, Lucy is still not telling me.

I just want to explain why I am so overly cautious about increasing and why I'm not following the TP.
I don't want nobody to think that I don't have faith in TP, because I do.

Lucy did the similar thing to me around the end of last year.
Not the same, a little different, but she didn't react to a dosecrease at all. :-x
So up I went, 1u, 1.25u, 1.5u, 1.75u and 2u.
She didn't really respond until she was on 2u.
By then I started seeing greens, but she got really sick.
The way she was sick was different from any other time, she wasn't fighting pain or anything, but she just had no energy.
She was almost dragging herself to move around.
She gets sick often, and I've always believed she'd spring back, except that time.
That was the only time I truly feared I might be losing her.
I even asked the vet if she was going to die, crying. The scariest episode.
At that time, I pulled the dose way back, made some adjustment, and she eventually settled on somewhere around 0.75 - 1u.
Maybe she didn't do all green cycles every day, but she did feel much better.
I don't necessarily believe that I overdosed her, but I do think that she is too fragile for fast dose increase, or at least she was at that time.
Maybe she'll do fine now, but I'm too afraid to find out.
So.... that is why I have the need to do the "rebound check".
Maybe it's not helping her, but I think about how she was and I just don't have the guts to keep raising her dose.

I know how kind you all are here.
I know how supportive you all are.
But I just wanted to explain myself.
I hope you understand, and don't think that I'm making Lucy suffer by keeping her unregulated unnecessarily.

Love that! :-D :-D :-D

Kitties are definitely more than their numbers, although time below renal threshold is also important longer term. Think blue Lucy! It can take a few cycles for the depot of the higher dose to drain. When you reduced back in December for the experiment, it took 6 cycles for the higher numbers to really show.

Re: 6/3 Lucy AMPS=205;+2=270;+9=247

Come on Lucy, give your mama a signal one way or another. Maybe it's the mellow yellow before a nice blue going to green streak. Here's hoping.

Hi Mariko,
I'm a big fan of everything in moderation. You don't have to go so quickly up the dose ladder if you feel it is making Lucy uncomfortable. Lucy isn't a new diabetic and she might need more time to come to grips with dose changes. Also, she might be one of those kitties who feels better and does better when her numbers are a bit higher. Sometimes you have to step back and observe, just as you are doing.
Have a good evening,

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Wendy - Thank you for caring and thank you for being Auntie Wendy for Lucy.
Elise - Thank you for your support. I hope Lucy listens to you.
Ella - Thank you for saying what you said.

I really appreciate everyone for being a friend.
Because I feel big time guilty about what I'm doing in so many ways.

Lucy is feeling fine this evening. :-D
She ate the 1st and 2nd dinner pretty well.
She's meowing for some attention, but I still have to work......

You should not feel guilty for wanting to do the best job you can in caring for Lucy. The fact that she is "feeling fine" and eating well means you are on the right path! After all, isn't that what we want for our kitties the most? Sure, we'd all love for them to be OTJ, but that isn't realistic. You know Lucy best, and you have to do what you think is right for her. We are all here to support you and cheer Lucy on. :YMHUG:

Lucy has been through a lot lately. Give her some time to adjust again. It's great that she wants attention and is eating well. Both good signs.
