Cleo feeling good this am: 4 P's in place; no LB overshoots (yippee), good appy.

I am noticing that she is spending less time out on the catio when my civvie, Simon, is out there. He is my biggest chicken cat. Hides the whole time for company, panics if the doorbell rings, has sent his cat food bowl crashing to the floor if he hears some sound, real or imagined. Anyhoo, I think he is silently bullying her. Lays right next to the slider door (blocking entrance?), he will come running in after her, but just runs past her, doesn't touch her. He will go to drink at water bowl while she is there. Cleo will just hiss and walk away. I don't want to make it worse, but Cleo is now my special baby, and if she wants to lay out on the catio, I don't want him to stop her. DH says I am making a mountain out of a molehill, but he is not as observant as I am, LOL, thank goodness ;-) My other civvie, Opie, is just a lump. He plays rough, but he is not sneaky/devious, and he and Cleo walk side by side around the pool. No tension there.

Well, Happy Monday with a dose of healing vines to those in need.
I have a short work week - I am off this Wed,Thurs, Fri!! Whoo hoo!

Re: 6/3 Cleo AMPS 308

I hope Cleo clears the bounce soon. Sorry to hear about Simon being a bully. I've had that happen with some of my cats and have never been able to figure out how to stop it.

Re: 6/3 Cleo AMPS 308

Maybe Simon is shy and is actually in love with her... passes right by her without touching her... nonchalantly going for a drink when she's at the water bowl.. huh?

Re: 6/3 Cleo AMPS 308

Good morning, I hope Cleo slides down for a blue surf today. Sorry that Simon is being a silent bully. My Smokey is a bit of a bully too. In the beginning she hissed and growled at Zeus. She wouldn't let him sit on the furniture, or let anyone pay attention to him. Thankfully she is better now.

Have a good day,
Kathie

So Simon is the alpha in your herd

When Gobby used to get a lot of testing, I'd test the civvies just for the heck of it....maybe Simon wants a test, as I'm sure he notices what a strong bond you & Cleo have due to FD care....

Have a great week!!!

Re: 6/3 Cleo AMPS 308

Morning Jane,
I have the same yipee for no lb overshoots today!! Sort of like a vacation! Simon, silly kitty, don't pick on your sister! One of our civies chases Ollie like that. He's better when he gets his own extra time with a bean. Kat could be totally correct, he may just be a little jealous.
I hope Cleo slides on down for you today. Go Cleo!!!!!
hugs and scritches from us

Yes, I think that he may be a little jealous. I am trying to be nice to him, even though I want to slap at him sometimes :o He is my sleeping buddy, sits on the counter with me as I get ready for work in the am, and is usually a love. He is not getting as much attention since Cleo was DX. I will have to make more of an effort to play with him too.
And, I have tested both Simon and Opie a few times, just to see how low their numbers are. I am going to try and get DH to practice on them - they both could care less, and their ears are much thicker than Cleo's, and they are just not as frail as my little ol' lady is

Hope she is surfin' safely at home.

Yes, give him the same treatment as you do your diabetic cat. Take him to the testing spot, touch and rub the ears, hold the ear as if you were going to poke it but only touch it with your finger. Put the meter up to the ear. Give a treat.

This way, if he ever needs some individualized attention that involves ear touches, he'll be used to it. I'm doing this for all my kitties since I had one that needed transdermal gel for hyperT , chronic ear infections in another cat and now with Wink being diabetic. Those same sort of test steps we go through for our diabetics are easily used in other situations for medicating a cat.

Nice blue, Cleo! You could get an animal communicator to talk to the kitties and see what's going on. Woohoo for a short week! :-D :-D

PMPS - 134

Gave Simon an ear touching at Cleo's last test, (great idea Deb) and also offered him some of her treat (FF appetizer). He turned his nose up at it, he likes crunchy stuff. Then we had a good workout with the play feather. We let Opie join us after Simon had some alone play with momma bean. Both boys are resting now.

Yes, he is just a little jealous. I will try to have play time every night!
