Good Morning LL

Nothing interesting here. Checks ate nice FF breffis. Pill in cheese/kibble ball. Tub drinks, more food.

Gotta figure out how I'm going to not feed after nadir. That would be somewhere around 3 PM, my time.
That's four hours before food again....long time for an underweight cat.

How in the world does someone cook their own dinner, with a cat staring at her? I've tried.
Isn't it enough, I have to hide, to eat yogurt, and can't bring cantaloupe in the house anymore? :YMSIGH:

Much better numbers today! :-D :-D Could you feed Checks some freeze-dried chicken after nadir? Or some other zero carb food?

You've got a challenge.
I could never abstain after nadir with Shadow since she was early ( at +2) .
So I just made it a point to pick certain times in the cycle. I just tried to not feed her after +7 or 7.5 .... and made that the lowest carb selection of the day ( when I could).

And cooking... She always hangs out with us in the kitchen so she gets a shred of mozzarella or Monterey jack which seems to keep her content until it's her turn.

I have to hide to eat bacon. ;-)

I tried yesterday, with people tuna, late in the am cycle, but he still rose. I guess I can't go by that, because I can't remember what time he got the kibble.
He doesn't like any freeze dried treats, I found after buying the huge bag of chicken liver. Grrr!
I tried to recreate the raid with bits of tuna on plate in drawer, but couldn't upload the video to Photpbucket,...too big.

Deleted pic. I meant to just post link, and can't for some reason.

Awww...love the recreated raid scene! They are just smart little buggers, aren't they?

Trix nadirs pretty early, too. I usually try to not feed her after +6ish, but there are times I cave and feed her just a little bit after that. My hard and fast rule is nothing after +10, though. Given Checks is underweight, maybe little snacks here and there would be OK. If it messes with his BGs, you could try tweaking his dose to compensate. Just a thought....like you, I'd want to feed him if he wants to eat, and that may be something to consider, since he could use to gain weight. remember..ECID!

Hi Barb, not knowing Checkers eating patterns, I can't help. However, if Gobs starts his staring crap (and I told him it is impolite to share) when I'm cooking (and he's even worse when we're sitting at the dinner table), I give him a piece of raw, uncooked chicken.

I have been feeding "dinner" at +10...sometimes I forget and he gets fed up 'til 10.5.

After a long lifetime of thinking dinner/supper is 6PM, for family, I have to totally rethink this, cuz of The Cat!

Hi Barb and Checkers! I feed my two every 4 hours...but we are on Levimir and nadir is usually around +8. I find that 4 hours is a good spacing...they are ready for a snack by then. So, I am not giving them a lot of food each time, but enough to keep their numbers steady. But, I think 3-4 hours before preshot is about right for a good preshot number...
Everyone finds a differetn feeding schedule I guess....wishing youw ell with yours!! Hugs!

I am no help on the feeding. I have never been strict on feeding times and our two have always free fed. Turnup will make herself throw up if she does not have food in the bowl, even if she isn't hungry. ohmygod_smile It's one of her quirks.

Hi Barb. Wish I could tell you how to solve the staring problem. Our furry buddies sure know how to make us feel guilty. PurrFace does the same but fortunately he'll eat chicken or freezes dried treats. Hope you find the solution.

He had no contraband....only LC food, or no carb tuna, today.
Even yesterday, I was looking for an answer to high pmps.I never did believe he got enough kibble to result in high bg.
He had scooped some out of a dish..in a drawer... with his little paw. I just needed something to blame the numbers on.

He was a bit unsure on his legs a couple of hours ago. He seemed to not want to put full weight on them. I gave bupe.


I stopped feeding after his +7. He had about a teas of LC Fancy Feast around +10. That could not possibly send him to the red floor

I'm sorry about the bounce. I hope Checkers comes back down soon. Good luck figuring out how best to feed him in the evenings.

that's only one flavor... and mine wouldn't eat that flavor....

Have you actually tried all the flavors?
I'd send you a turkey one.... or a shrimp.
Shadow hates the chicken flavor so I have either turkey, shrimp or salmon. ( and I have one bag of purebites chicken.. still sealed. )

Hi Barb,
Too bad on your feeding dilemma. I always put out a +9 snack and Rusty free-feeds and grazes in any event. I think that Pat has a good solution: put out smaller amounts every few hours. I agree with Amy that if Checks needs to gain weight/maintain his weight he needs to eat and when he eats is of secondary concern.

Have a good evening. Our heat wave came to a sudden end. Did yours?

so you haven't actually tried all of them....

Would you like to try the turkey or shrimp? if so... send me you address in a pm....and I'll mail you a bag....

it was night and day difference for Shadow from the chicken to the turkey.... so you never know... :-D
