My DH was up at 4 am and Toeby threw up while he was up.
Not sure what that was about, but he is in good spirits today and eating.
He did not get his budesonide last night, as per his new dosing schedule.

I should get the new 0.5 mg capsules of budesonide this week, and I am hoping he can take the capsules instead of the tiny 1 mg tablets he has been taking every other day.

Sorry to hear Toeby threw up. :( Hopefully the smaller dose of budesonide every day will help with this. :bighug: Good to finally see a green number again from him though.

Hi!
I'm not too concerned.
He used to throw up so much that once in a while doesn't alarm me.
It's been stinking hot here, as I know it has been all along the eastern seaboard.
I swear, although we have central air, the cats act a little funny when it's hot and humid out... I do leave a window open for him to snuff the breeze (don't tell Al Gore! :))

Yes! 2 greens so far this morning - I am giving him a little food with every test.

I'm feeling really bad for having all of the windows shut in the house right now because the kitties can't enjoy the fresh air, but the humidity is really intense and it's already 88 degrees out (feels like 100) :arghh:.

Surf safely, Toeby!

Do you have MC, Laura? Might be time for a little smidge of it if Toeby insists on hanging out in the 50s. You want to prevent a bounce by letting him surf.

This is soooo close to being lime green.
I do have a pretty wide range of foods - I've been giving him some Whiskas that I had figured out to be 12.5% but I think I better calculate it again.
Whiskas doesn't show on any of the charts that I've seen on here, so I did it off the manufacturer's website info... it is a pate, so I kinda doubted it was 12.5% and maybe it's not.
For good measure I gave him a couple Temptation treats - 5 to be exact.

I'm home, so I'll check him again shortly

+4.5 68

Which is fine, but I have the carb content WAY off for this Whiskas Perfect Portions pate... I think it is only like 4%..
Dumb, I know.
Can someone with a better mind please look at these numbers and tell me?
The website only gives the Guaranteed Analysis: 80% moisture, 9% protein, 5% fat, 1.5% crude fibre, and 3% Ash...
I think this works out to be LOW CARB, like maybe 4% calories from carbohydrates?

I still have lots of medium carb food, as per the links provided on the forums, but I should get this straight for future use.
These are handy to feed him when I am testing him because they are small in size.

I will update his spreadsheet at +5.

+5 is again 68

I am going to give him a little bit of Fancy Feast "Turkey Feast in Gravy" "Grilled", which is how the label reads in Canada; which, according to the food charts, should be 13% carbs.
According to my notes, 10-15% carbs is considered Medium Carb.
If I have any of this wrong, please don't hesitate to correct me.

I think he is unlikely to drop after this +5 point of the day, but will give him a little of this to be sure.
He still has lots of low carb food in his dishes.

Great surf, Toeby! If he's flat at 68 I would give him LC in the future. Here's my handy dandy cheat sheet for feeding the curve and testing during low numbers:

60 or higher: LC (0-10% carb) + test in an hour
50-59 : MC (11-15% carb) + test every 30 minutes
49 or below: HC (>16% carb) + test every 15-20 minutes and then for two hours after the lowest number appeared until they start going up

Sorry but I can't help you with the carb content of the Whiskas. I did try to dig up more info online but couldn't find anything. Guaranteed analysis is not great for figuring carb content because they are usually minimum and maximum percentages. As Fed or Dry Matter Basis are better at figuring out carb content more precisely. I'd stick to the foods you can find on the catinfo.org chart so you can be a little more certain.

In the absence of HC wet food, Temptations are fine in a pinch for bringing a cat up from low numbers, but wet food where you know the percentage of the carb is a better choice always. I went from feeding Ruby 28% carb HC to bring her up from low numbers early on in our sugar journey to feeding her 12% MC or even just LC once she learned to stop bouncing. It's harder to control the effect of high carb treats as they might send the kitty sky high, which you want to avoid.
