Tessa isn't eating again this morning. She did eventually eat 1 Fancy Feast can last night and I left another half a can out for her spread out in multiple bowls throughout the apartment so she wouldn't have to go far for food if she got hungry. She didn't eat any of that though. :(

I decided to skip the gabapentin and just give buprenorphine alone for pain management this morning. I was nervous that giving both might make her too sedated to eat. It's been about an hour since we gave that, hopefully it will kick in and she will feel up to eating soon. She didn't fight the bupe as much as the gabapentin, probably because the bupe doesn't taste so bad. I did my best to get the bupe in the cheek but she probably swallowed some of it. Hopefully enough got in to actually provide some pain relief. If she doesn't eat in the next few hours, I will probably give gabapentin too in case it's pain that is preventing her from eating.

I had to pull her out from under the bed to give insulin this morning. She was not happy about it but she didn't run back under the bed afterwards, she ran to her favorite pillow in my office and laid down instead.

She doesn't seem to be in as much pain today but is definitely still uncomfortable.

Poor baby. I think the pain killers can lessen the appetite sometimes. She had quite a lot of work done. I wonder if your vet could look at her mouth to make sure she’s healing properly? I know someone else did the surgery but that should not matter. Good you gave insulin . I hope she starts to feel better today.

Yeah, I think the pain killer is also killing her appetite. She did finally eat around 2 hours after she got insulin. I have multiple food options out for her, some with added water to make it softer and some just normal pate consistency. She ate the normal pate consistency one, almost half a can of FF so at least she has some food on board now. I am debating whether to give her the gabapentin now too, she got really zonked out on the combo the other day but she did also eat afterwards too and I've read that gabapentin has a mild appetite stimulating effect so it might be worth giving, especially if it will help with her pain.

I can ask them to look but they aren't open over the weekend so Monday would be the earliest. I am honestly pretty shocked at how poorly she's doing. She had 5 teeth removed at a regular vet back in April and ate pretty normally the entire time. She had some lingering pain that gabapentin took care of but otherwise she did great. This work was done by a specialist and I expected that she would have a similar experience afterwards but I guess not. I don't think I can really blame the vet but I am really frustrated and really hope she turns a corner soon.

I'm going to pick up some additional food options for her including some kitten food since it tends to be higher in calories. I got a bunch of fish varieties of canned food the other day but she isn't interested at all so I'm going to get duck, turkey, and chicken. She has a history of puking when she eats beef so I am going to stay away from that. I already picked up Fortiflora and have tried that and she isn't interested. It doesn't smell as strong as it used to so I wonder if they changed the formula. I might get some freeze dried treats to crush up and sprinkle on her food too just in case that entices her to eat.

Do I still give full dose tonight even if her numbers are in the low to mid 200s at PMPS? She has eaten half a can of Fancy Feast and refuses to eat more. I have tried several flavors of FF as well as Churus, other treats, I even got desperate enough to wave a piece of dry food in front of her and she just turned away from me. I am so stressed out and I feel like she's suffering and it's all my fault.

How long until PMPS? She could go up by then.

How's the litterbox action going? Just wondering if she's constipated, another reason they might not feel like eating much.

It's about +10.5 right now if my math is correct, giving the dose at a weird time is throwing me off. I did go ahead and test her and it was 255 so numbers are going up.

She did poop last night but it was smaller than usual. She isn't drinking much so she isn't peeing very much either. I actually had them check her bladder yesterday when she came in for the Cerenia shot and they said it was small so they weren't concerned. And of course she peed as soon as she got home from the vet.

She's mostly been sleeping in my office today and seems weak. I picked her up to hold her earlier and normally she fights me but just didn't really fight and just seems so weak. I'm concerned we're going to have to make an ER vet if things don't turn around soon.

I got a bunch of kitten food to try with her, I'm going to start with the highest calorie option first before I try anything else. It's 124 calories for a 3 oz can. I also got some Tiki Cat Baby Thrive which is like a Churu but high calorie at 25 calories per pouch. I'm going to give her gabapentin about an hour before PMPS to let it kick in and hope and pray that she eats. Shortly after PMPS I'll give the bupe. I want to give her a chance to eat before the bupe because I know the combo of gabapentin and bupe makes her very lethargic and sedated so I don't know if she'll be willing to eat at that point.

Decided against moving the full 30 minutes forward today since she's still barely eating so I just gave insulin 10 minutes early. Will probably get back on schedule tomorrow. Gave her gabapentin at 6:30pm, 1 hour prior to PMPS. We got her to eat a little bit of food, about 1/3 of a Fancy Feast can. Hopefully she'll eat more tonight.

I went around collecting all the bowls of food I left out today and one of them had some food eaten from it but I can't be sure that Tessa was the one who ate it. Her sister rarely eats Tessa's food but it's still possible.
