WCR: Most Ps in place. Little girl vomited at +10 this morning. She didn't feel good last night and her appy was off, so I figured her tummy wasn't feeling well and therefore wasn't shocked when she got sick. What concerned me yesterday was that she only peed once. Normally, she's a 2-3 (sometimes 4), so that worried me. Wasn't shocked by her AMPS this morning, either. Got lots of snuggles this morning and she's chillin' right next to me for the occasional pet. Last night, she almost fell off the bed. I think she was trying to get down onto my little footstool to get to ground floor, but I heard her slip and slide, so I grabbed her. After I held her for a moment, I grabbed my cell phone to light her way. She's been losing her balance a little more often lately. :(

OT: Sister is back at the vet's office w/ kittens. Little girl's poop was better, yesterday morning, but by the evening it was runny again. So, she took both kitties into the vet this morning. They did a fecal float with both kitties and no signs of coccidia. YAY! But now what? He believes there may be a secondary bacterial infection and is treating them with Baytril (1/4 tab. per day (22.7 milligrams per day)). I don't know if I believe it's a secondary infection or side effects from ClinDrops antibiotics. :(

Sending healthy vines to all our sugar kitties and their hoomins! Blessings!

Shasta really likes those blues. Sorry to see I wasn't the only one woken up by a dark and early black and white vomit (mine was just the daily hairball). Feel better Miss Shasta.

More vines for your sister's kittens. If the ClinDrops is clindamycin, it can do a real number on the stomach flora. Some probiotics might help restore the balance.

More prayers for Shasta and the kittens! I hope Shasta's tummy has settled. I would also wonder if the kittens are experience digestive side-effects from the meds at this point...poor babies! But yay that the coccidia is gone!!

Wendy, you are right. Clindrops is clindamycin and that's exactly what I was thinking with the probiotics. I ordered some for the kitties and my sister asked the vet about it today. He said he wanted to wait until they clear up whatever is going on before introducing something new. He didn't even have "proof" that there was a secondary infection...just started treating it with Baytril. I told my sister that the ClinDrops may very well be causing the diarrhea, at this point, because it is a common side-effect of this antibiotic as with many antibiotics. She asked the vet about the side-effect and he said that ClinDrops doesn't typically cause diarrhea in animals...only humans?!?!?!?! WHAT??????? And this is a vet we've used for years and years and he's highly respected in Pensacola.
