Good Morning, Everyone,

Rusty had a good night after his extraction and was raring to go this morning. He jumped all over the testing site and just seemed so happy. He certainly doesn't appear to be in pain. I couldn't get him to take the Orbax antibiotic last night. Made a mess. The vet is going to call me back this morning and I will ask her if there isn't an antibiotic that I can give by injection. I will also ask if Rusty has an infection, or if the Orbax is just a cautionary thing. The list of adverse reactions is scary.

We had a good test, shot, breakfast (Wellness Turkey with lots of water mixed in; all eaten; he may get another sitting soon). Rusty actually came upstairs this morning after breakfast and at present is sitting on the banquette in Edward's study!!! He has never done this!

Yesterday I got my order from ADW. I ordered a box of Terumo syringes and a box of BD. I will experiment with them after Rusty gets finished with his antibiotics (unrelated issues, I know, but I can't deal with all this stuff at once!! and in the meantime I have my good box of MJs from last summer).

bbl with, I hope, advice from the vet.

Re: 6/29 Rusty AMPS 156

Nice AMPS! Good luck with the vet. I've never had to give a cat liquid meds (that I can remember anyway), and always have success giving pills instead. If you're comfortable with pilling Rusty, that may be an alternative. Good luck, and stay cool.

Re: 6/29 Rusty AMPS 156

Hi Ella, glad to hear the good report on Rusty feeling good and eating. I hope the Vet can give you something easier to handle with Rusty. I've always had better luck with pilling Mags than the liquid. I don't blame you on waiting to experiment with the syringes, one thing at a time. :-D Have a nice day.

Re: 6/29 Rusty AMPS 156

Wow Rusty! You are great! Business as usual after an extration? You are my hero!
Ella, take your time with your QC on those syringes.
Have a nice Friday!

Re: 6/29 Rusty AMPS 156

Hi again,
I just got off the phone with the vet. She had prescribed the Orbax as a preventative. Rusty doesn't have an infection. So she said that we don't have to give the Orbax. Yay! She is pleased that he is feeling so good this morning.

It is interesting that Rusty discovered the "banquette" (a pillow that we have on top of a record cube in the bay window in Edward's study). We have had some configuration of this "banquette" for many years. Alice used to like to sit on it, and Stu did too. It's a perfect spot for a cat. Now that Rusty has decided to come upstairs during the daytime, he may enjoy sitting on it, too (he's still there).

p.s. I just noticed on Rusty's discharge instructions that the tooth extracted was the "lower right premolar 4". I can't believe I didn't see this yesterday! I thought it was on the left side!!

Re: 6/29 Rusty AMPS 156

Hi Ella and Rusty! I can't believe i missed Rusty's dental visit, its great to hear he's feeling good this morning, he probably feels like a brand new cat after that tooth was taken out. Leo didn't have to take antibiotics either after his dental and everything turned out good. Did Rusty leave his tooth for the tooth fairy?

Hope all is well with you two and have a great day :-D

Re: 6/29 Rusty AMPS 156

PS, i finally ordered the Frio cooler concept insulin carrier. It looks pretty cool, i'll have to try it out today. Thanks for recommending it! :-D

You probably don't remember recommending it to me, but you did a looooong time ago!

Re: 6/29 Rusty AMPS 156

Morning Ella,

WOWon rusty this moning. The boy is feeling good! That is great news. I am glad too that you don't have to deal with the AB's. I think it is wonderful that Rusty has decided that upstais is a good place. YAY !!!

ENJOY your day. It sounds like it is off to a great start. Good luck too with the syringes. I look forward to reading what you find out.

Re: 6/29 Rusty AMPS 156

It sounds like Rusty is doing great after his extraction. :-D :-D :-D do you hold him by the scruff while trying to give the ABs? Can you do the clothespin trick w/ all his fur? Tess has had Clavamox several time, this last time they gave us pill and she started vomiting and lost interest in food. We never had that w/ the liquid. But it can be a mess! For the bupe it's fine if he keeps his jaws clamped. You just need to get it in the cheek pocket.

Russ? You feeling good this morning? Let's do ti! Let's go try out those kayaks! -- Tess

Re: 6/29 Rusty AMPS 156

Yay! Rusty is doing great! :-D :-D I'm glad to see that. And no Orbax, phew. That is so funny that he has just decided the banquette is his new favorite place.  Kitties are endlessly entertaining.

Re: 6/29 Rusty AMPS 156

Glad he is doing so great today!!! Nice number too considering the skip yesterday!!

I'll be anxious to hear when you try the other two syringes. :-D

Tobey and Gracie are bringing their portion of the KTSS for Rusty. Tobey wants to know if you will sit and hold him and pet him today. I told him Rusty needed you more and he said but Tobes is her OTHER best boy!!! He need love too!!!

Re: 6/29 Rusty AMPS 156, +5.5 151, +9 138, PMPS 105

Hi again,

Rusty had a good afternoon. Slept some, went outside for a while, sat on Edward's porch, sat with us on the downstairs porch, ate well. He just looks and acts so much livelier (when he's not sleeping, that is). Today was a good wind-down day from the dental. Rusty is thrilled to be home from the vet's!

I had a 10-mile ride on my bike this afternoon. It was very windy and warm, but good to get out.

Thanks, everyone, for visiting us today. Off now to visit some condos,

Ella & Rusty

p.s. to Tobey, my "other" best boy: thank you for coming over to do some KTSS for Rusty. He really appreciated that massage, and I enjoyed having you sit next to me on the couch. Next time we'll bake some cimmamum cookies for you to take home, OK?

Hi Ella.
This morning I starting reading Rusty's condo from yesterday, and missed today's.
I'm sooo glad he's feeling good. Maybe the bad tooth was hurting, and it's a relief to have it gone now.
Happy happy condo :-D

Aww, I'm so glad that Rusty is feeling so well after his extraction yesterday. And I understand how hard it is to give the antibiotic to a kitty that is determined not to take it. :?
I've been stalking Cappi (BigMac's sister), all over the house and she is an expert at dodging me. Arrrgh! She had a dental with an extraction this morning.

Hey CD,
Rusty sends healing vines to Cappi. He hopes that she'll be able to avoid the antibiotics, too. Which ones were prescribed?

Have a great weekend and keep cool! Thanks for checking on Rusty,

Ella & Rusty

Hi Ella, that's great to hear Rusty is feeling so good and no side affects from the extraction or infection. Rusty is a strong boy! That's a nice PM pre-shot, too. Neat with the 10 mile bike ride, too! I also like the medium dark roasts coffees and have been trying different Trader Joe's blends when they have samples. Hope Rusty has a good night and surfs a nice safe one.

I caught her! Ha! She wasn't happy but she got her squirt of clindamycin and then some buprenex and then we finished with a big squirt of water. Now she's glaring at me from a distance.

Cappi and Rusty could be siblings, they look very much alike and apparently hate antibiotics in the same way. I hope they don't send secret messages to each other on how to avoid getting their meds. I have a feeling that tonight was the last time she will let me catch her. ohmygod_smile

I hope you have better luck with Rusty! :-D

Re: 6/29 Rusty AMPS 156, +5.5 151, +9 138, PMPS 105

Wow, what a great PMPS, almost to the lagoon! And one day after his dental, fabulous! We are looking forward to your syringe report on the comparison. Hope you all have a lovely Friday evening and are staying cool.

Rusty seems to be recovering quite nicely from the dreaded vetty day. Good that you don't have to medicate him after all.

I too am interested on your syringe report. This latest box of BDs I've been using are extra bubbly.
