6/20 Condo------>has it really been this long since we posted?
Good Morning LL and long time no chat :-D

I'm back from work and with my kitty, he was pretty happy to see me yesterday, he got all purry and uses this pitiful meow for the first few hours after i come home. DGP's say its his meow when he's acting like a big baby

Leo was a very good boy this last week, apparently we've had some pretty bad storms here on Monday/Tuesday with tornado warnings all over the place, an F3 touched down a few hours south of here. DGma said Monday nights storm was so scary her and DGpa took all the animals and went and hid in the basement, Leo was so nonchalant that every time they brought him to the basement he would just walk back upstairs to lay by his dish and wait for fuds. Everybody else was so scared they were litter boxing their pants! :o  Then the power was out for a full day at DGP's, good thing Leo can provide for his DGP's with mice, no one would go hungry with him around  I came home yesterday with 5 fish that i caught, and Leo and his brother Toban ate almost a full fish yesterday, they had a lot of northern pike and a bit of walleye.......yum!

Leo and i came home to find that the power was out for 2 days here due to the bad storm, a big tree fell down in the backyard and knocked out my internet, cable and phone lines.......its like living in the dark ages here!!! Yikes!! :o Thank goodness for cell phones with a personal hotspot :-D From what everyone on the news is saying, is that so long as you don't open your fridge/freezer your food should stay good, its not the food i'm worried about, it was the $100 worth of insulin i have sitting in the fridge, i hope its still good. Rolling blackouts will continue as power lines get fixed up, and we are being advised to use only what you need to for power, and its stinkin' hot here too of course. Its absolutely unbelievable how dependant we have become on power, people were going crazy here when the power was out. I'm glad i was at work.

Leo is doing good, he seems to be feeling better, but he has become very picky once again. I had to mix up a special blend of 5% and 10% to get him to eat this morning. Otherwise we had a good test, shoot and feed with some outdoor time before it gets too hot. Our trip to Colorado is in 2 weeks! I still have lots of things to do before we leave, it will be a busy week.

Sorry our condo is so long, i hope all the kitties are doing well!

H Tracy, welcome home and so cute with Leo talking up a storm when you arrived home. It's probably half so happy to see you and the other half "where have you been Mom?" Wow on the storm; it sounded very scary. Leo was the calming force there. Yum on all the fresh fish for Leo and Toban. The trip to Colorado will be here before you know it. Have a great Friday, Tracy.

Re: 6/29 Leo AMPS 266

Hi Tracy & Leo,

Wow, life up there sounds like one weather event after another! It is a good thing Leo was around to catch meals for everyone else when your dad's power was out!!

I didn't realize that you are leaving for Colorado in 2 weeks. How is the fire situation in Ft. Collins now? (the worst fires seem to have moved to the Colorado Springs area). Good luck getting everything done before you leave. Do you have to go back in the field first?

I'll be interested to see how the Frio cooler works for you. I bought mine for electrical emergencies and have never had to use it. The colder the water that you use to soak it in, the cooler it will stay. But don't expect the insulin to stay as cool as it would in the 'fridge. The Frio keeps the insulin at safe temperatures, I would say somewhere between 50 and 60 degrees F. (I had a mini thermometer in mine when I was testing it, but no insulin. Make sure you follow the instructions closely. The Frio has to be able to breathe for the evaporative cooling to be effective, so don't put it in a case or anything; they suggest just carrying it in your pocket.) When we travel by car we use a smallish cooler, put the insulin in the bottom, wrapped in bubble wrap, a small cardboard box, and a paper bag or newspaper. We put other stuff in on top (Rusty's travel food; our food), put a folded paper bag on top of everything, and put the cold blocks on top of the bag (and another bag on top of the cold blocks). The insulin stays at 40 degrees F. for the whole 6+ hour trip.

Thanks for visiting us. No, Rusty did not bring the tooth home, so the tooth fairy missed us!

Re: 6/29 Leo AMPS 266

Welcome home, Tracy! It sounds like quite a week there while you were gone. Leo, of course, kept it all together. :-D :-D :-D

Are you still without power? Paws crossed that the insulin is still fine. And yes, no checking on the fridge until the power is back on. We are all anticipating the trip along with you. Leo will do great! I hope the fires will be contained when you have to be there.

139 for PMPS, i fell asleep and woke up to a hungry Leo who hadn't been fed or tested all afternoon!! What a horrible mom i am, good thing he forgave me after i sprinkled fortiflora all over his supper. Plus i don't think he was too upset with me, he was sleeping right beside me all afternoon.

Yes we do have power Ann, so far no blackouts! But i did end up throwing out all my salad dressings, miracle whip, sour cream and cheese out of the fridge, i just didn't want to risk it.

Ella, i activated the frio and so far its cool but not super cold.

Welcome home, Tracy and Leo. :-D Nice PMPS, Mr. Leo. You are quite the hunter. Good thing there are so mice for you to keep up your skills. Yikes on all the storms! Out of the frying pan and into the fire though, going to Ft. Collins. Jeesh! I hope the fires are under control soon. There are electric coolers that plug into the dc outlet in the car.

Welcome home! Good idea to throw out the fuds...there is no point in taking any risks like that. Yikes, 2 days without power! I hope no one there was injured or experienced any serious damage.

Have a relaxing and wonderful evening, Tracy!!

PS "Litterboxing their pants" soooo totally made me    !!!

Glad you are safely home. Leo looks great tonight. Was there a reason his dose has been going slightly up then down then up?

I hope the fires clear before you get there...that would not be much of a vacation.

On the treat ball.....how does anyone think the cats will lose weight if they are getting treats every time they whack it?

Hi Tracy -

Been checking on the fires, and talking w/ a friend who used to be w/ the US Forest Service in CO. She said they had a bug that killed off many of the trees in the area west of Ft. Collins (near Rocky Mountain National Park), and that the dead trees are fueling the fire. She also said that because most of it is forest land, the fire-fighting efforts aren't as large as the populated areas like Co Springs. Ft. Collins is on the plain adjacent to the front range. The fires are in the mountains, so there will be smoke and probably "air quality days" when we're there, but there shouldn't be fires IN Ft. Collins. The woman at the hotel told me they're about 11 miles away.

When you put your hand on the list of stuff... please share the link. I tried to PM you on FB, but it kept getting locked up. It was out (the Acro closed group) for a while last week, so not sure if it's more of the same. Let me know if the passports don't arrive and if you end up coming alone. I get to Denver just before noon on Sunday.
