Well, here we are back again for another look-see at Fred's numbers. I have just posted 6/16-this AMPS.
You will see some green mid-cycle for the first time! :-D

We can keep going as we are or get more aggressive. Here's the problem....I leave for a 4-day trip on July 31st. My neighbor has agreed to feed my cats so that they can stay at home while I'm away. She has been trained on how to administer insulin - but NOT test. I need to come up with a dose that will be just enough but not too much. We can see where his numbers are as we get closer, but I don't want to experiment with doses that I can't monitor.

I was thinking .4 would be good for both end of the day, looking at his numbers over the last month. This might send his pre-shot test higher after I get back, but it won't put him into the hypo danger zone while I'm away.

We have a month. Let me know what you think. At any rate, this is a better plan than having to put him in a cage for 4 days in a strange environment, where his BGs are bound to go crazy. Fred knows my neighbor and is comfortable with her.

Let me know your thoughts! Many thanks.

Beautiful numbers! All those blues and greens. I feel like 0.4 would be a good bet for the pet sitter. Is she at all willing to learn testing? Even if it was just before shots?

I know it's tough leaving them! I think a pet sitter is a better option than boarding...he's home in his environment. I'd say let's see where the numbers are as the trip gets closer like you suggested. I'm sure others will have good suggestions too!

Just by looking at the sheet, if you could also get your sitter to come by at +3-4 to take a look and see if Fred is ok and not showing any signs of being hypo. Make up a hypo "kit" in case also.
I don't dare comment on the dose, too new at this.

Nope...I'm EXTREMELY grateful just to have her feed and shoot him for free twice a day - that's a lot!! Wouldn't THiNK of having her check him more often. If I can pick a medium dose based on his numbers in July, even if the dose is a little low, I can deal with the BG numbers going up when I get back. He's been high before, we can get him back down if need be.

Right now, I just need some advice on the correct dose. When I post the numbers nearer the end of the month, I think we'll know where to go with dosing.

Thanks.
