Happy Caturday LL!! Bob seems good today. Increased his insulin to 3.5 units and I'm Really hoping to see some lower numbers in the next few days. First and foremost, I want bob better, but if this continues I'm going to have to sell my body to afford his insulin. I probably won't make much!!! LOL! I'm cleaning my apt and doing a curve on Bob. Hope everyone has a great day!

Re: 6/29 Bob AMPS=413 switched to Relion meter

Good luck w/ the new meter. I hope Bob starts to slide down for you today.

SS says 3 units. Your post says 3.5. Which is correct?

Yes, we notice little 'details' like that around here.

Hope you have a great day today.

Thanks Ann! I hope so too. I think the new meter will show lower numbers, but I don't think that means anything yet - I'm hoping to see some low 200's and 100's!

Hey Deb - I'm updating the ss right this second! I hope you have a great day too! :-D

Does anyone have any experience with the following foods? I picked up a couple cans of each for Bob's transition. They all seem to be under 10% carbs (if I'm figuring correctly)

Fromm Duck & Chicken Pate and Salmon & Tuna Pate
Evanger's Chikin Lickin
Lotus Chicken & Vegetable Pate

The Fromm is CRAZY expensive, but the evanger's doesn't seem to have a large selection of pates.

Thanks Deb - the Weruva looks good. Bob did show some interest in the BFF by weruva. Only thing is they all have tuna in them. How often is it ok to give kitties tuna?

Hi Dara!

Thank you for visiting. :D Unfortunately I can't add to the food conversations. Both of mine eat the Fancy Feasts pates. At the rate they eat them, I'm just glad it doesn't cost more than it does.

Insulin is so expensive isn't it? But it works so nicely on our cats. :-D

Have a great Saturday! Hopefully the cleaning goes well.

Ideally, fish a couple of times a week. But at this point, lets get him to eat the canned foods that you have and then get him on a less fishy diet. One Step at a Time.

Hi Dara,

I don't know if I've introduced myself and my little clown? My cat, Gobbles, was diagnosed on 11/17/12 and had his last shot on 5/16/13. He went OTJ after 6 months on Lantus. He is still OTJ. He's an 11 year old, one-in-a-million kitty, sporting a grey tabby coat and beautiful green eyes. He's quite a handful.

If feed my horde fancy feast and friskies canned that are under 9% carbs. If your kitty likes those, think of all the $$ you could save and put towards insulin :-D You can get the particular varieties that are under 9% at catinfo.org

Have a great weekend and keep up the good work!

I did buy some Fancy Feast too - I guess I have to stop reading the ingredients - that's what makes me want to buy the more expensive stuff. I guess paying $2.00 for one can of cat food would probably be pretty crazy. I have 3 cats! I was trying to get bob on the evo dry (which has decent ingredients as well) but I hate P&G and they've had two recalls in 3 months! Sigh.

That's awesome Gobbles is OTJ. I want it for Bob so bad, but it's been hard so far and I'm sure the dry food is not helping. WE'll keep trying and hope for a good outcome. I'm sure it will be possible with the great advice we receive here.

The dry food is definitely not helping but has anyone suggested Young Again dry as a transition! It's supposed to be zero carb.

I feed Wellness chicken, turkey, and beef/chicken and several other members do, too. I wouldn't get too stuck on the BFF with all that fish. Maybe it could be an entices?
